Look, we told everyone to go say their goodbyes to my grandma and it took her another 20 days to go. Meanwhile, my husband’s grandpa was told he’d fade away over a few weeks and he died that night. Death is such a weird and also very human experience, so I hope that all the Monday morning quarterbacking about who knew what when is just a thing for tabloids to discuss and that all the actual human beings involved are okay with how the actual human death went. This so much. Besides which - Harry is not the only grandchild here so I just can’t get that worried about when he was told. As long as it was before the news went public. There are so many factors and variables we can’t possibly know. It just doesn’t matter. |

I agree with swellist . I know this is the stuff everyone likes, but eh. I don't need to assume anything nefarious with notification timelines. Yes I assume this is just the media doing their thing for the next week until we start to see the Royals again |

(I don’t even know if anything has been substantiated as to where they are and I sort of assumed the kids and Doria got flown over because I can’t imagine being away from my babies that long) |

I am absolutely not diminishing the emotions that come with losing a loved one, I know how hard it is, even when they've lived a long and wonderful life. Starting off his reign with an extra week of "mourning"/vacation must be nice Idk, I wasn't even close with my father and I took all my bereavement time. I was exhausted. Absolutely, but I'm surprised his approval rating shot right up, unless maybe people would prefer he just peaced out 😬 In general I think people should get all the time they need for bereavement. Most people won't get 2.5 weeks |

But also he didn't get 2.5 weeks. He traveled and worked all last week. This week is his week off. |

If it wasn’t clear my post was just to illustrate that the media is trying to come back to “Harry arrived late and he was barely told before the whole world, everyone hates him” whereas in reality I think it all unfolded logically and their (the media’s) angle should come across as desperate and malicious. I don’t think “we” are assuming nefarious behavior here are we? At least not in this instance |

I read 17 Carnations by Andrew Morton. I remember it being pretty good, but it was years ago. I'm planning to read this when it comes out in paperback in November (I've read excerpts): Traitor King: The Scandalous Exile of the Duke & Duchess of Windsor by Andrew Lownie. My book club read The Duchess by Wendy Holden last year and it’s the same subject, but fiction, and was a fun dive into all of that. One of the few meetings where we actually talked about the book for our full time. |
