I read about Daemon-Rhaenyra accidentally while trying to read up on the Targaryens. I was hoping that it wouldn’t happen until the adult actor switched in as this actress is so young looking.

I knew the incest was coming - this is House of the Dragon after all, and if that grosses one out (as it normally would), then this might not be the show for some.
Trust, it was still icky to see, even though this is what House Targaryen does, i.e. Dany's parents were brother and sister. It's likely why they were so BSC a lot of the time.
I think some watchers elsewhere are responding to the chemistry between Matt and Milly, which I can see moments of that. For me, besides the obvious incest factor, is the fact that Milly (who is 22 in real life and playing an 18-19 year old Rhaenyra) looks so young compared to 39-year-old Matt.
I haven't read any of the HotD books but have a feeling Daemon and Rhaenyra will end up together at some point to have a stronger claim to the throne vs her brother Aegon.

I was not about to vomit cause it was acting and like others have said, it goes with the family. I did google how old the actress was though then felt better about it.

Even though I assumed it was coming I still hated it, but I agree part of that is because she looks young.

Incest had to come into play, it's the Targs.
I did feel a way about her coming onto Ser Criston. Major power imbalance and huge risks for him.

I feel so desensitized by the Lannisters that the incest didn’t bother me at all.
I’ve been really enjoying the show and I do love hearing that theme song again. But there is a pang in my heart every time they mention the prophesy. For what motherfucking point?!? I still have strong feels that Jon was done super dirty.

I finally caught up. I am very impressed with it so far and like it. I am still wondering what's going on with King V. His back looked so gross and now 2 fingers black. I know it's cuts from the throne but forgot the medical term. I wonder when they'll address it more/if it kills him.

I enjoy GOT and expected incest ftr. Obviously the situation was predatory, but her looking so young is what grossed me out. People were talking about chemistry and I’m just like 😵💫 because she looks the same age as my oldest, and Daemon is 40. The actress changes after episode 5, so hopefully things click better then.

I read an article about how this series focuses more on consent and women's enjoyment along with their "chemistry" and I was very head scratchy about it. Sure, maybe the women in the pleasure house were enjoying it when they were walking through, and Rhaenyra enjoyed getting it on with Ser Criston and was ready to with her Unc, but that was about the end of consent and enjoyment. Alicent sure wasn't having a good time, and both she and Ser Criston "consented"

Alicent sure wasn't having a good time, and both she and Ser Criston "consented" I think they mean more that the show is exploring what pleasure and consent mean to women and using their hypocritical world to highlight parallels in our own. Viserys and Daemon were free to have sex with as many women or men that they wanted without fear of anything; a whisper of Rhaenyra doing it was a scandal. Men battle on the field and get all the glory; women battle in childbirth and get no praise unless a living male heir is produced. They are literally sacrificed for sake of their unborn men just as men will sacrifice themselves in battle but no glory comes to women. Alicent represents the “right” progression of what a woman should Want but lord that sex is passionless. Rhaenyra is doing a lot “wrong” and having pleasurable sex. It’s putting these things up there to ask questions about women, their pleasure, what consent is actually coersion. It’s the themes much more than any one woman getting a fair shake.

Ok, I officially love this show.
It's taking all of my self control not to read the book spoiler threads on Reddit. I thought it was so cute that Criston asked Rhaenyra to run away with him...what an angel. And then he goes and commits such a heinous act?! Poor Laenor. I didnt quite get that scene...all the sudden the Red Coats are storming in and a woman screams..did Sir Criston just randomly start attacking Joffrey?
The scene where Alicent walks into the dining hall...goosebumps.
I'm going to miss young Alicent and Rhaenyra. Wish we had more time with them but I am excited for the rest of the season.

I thought it was so cute that Criston asked Rhaenyra to run away with him...what an angel. I had the exact opposite reaction. It made him seem somewhat pathetic to me. Like what world do you live in that you think she's going to run away with you because you're butt-hurt about your honor? So much so that when he stabbed Laenor's boyfriend, I was like "welp, he's a dum dum; what did you expect?" I did enjoy the chaotic wedding episode overall though - at least compared to the other episodes so far.

I took the scene with Criston attacking Joffrey to be out of love and honor for Rhaenyra. Meaning Criston in his mind was doing everything he could to protect those secrets, by eliminating the source(s).

Criston: I slept with the princess and dishonored my position. My best move now is to ask her to abandon all her princess duties, yes. That makes sense. Rhaenyra: I slept with Criston and am the heir to the Iron Throne. Criston is now asking if I want to abandon my post. I’ll feel bad for him and not accuse him of treason. Laenor: My boyfriend is a secret secret secret. I’ll kiss his dead body in the king’s castle and then cry uncontrollably thru my wedding. That’ll keep my secret safe. Alicent: Rhaenyra swore she didn’t sleep with Daemon. I believed her and defended her honor to the king. He fired my dad. Okay… now I know that she didn’t sleep with Daemon so I got it right. But, she did sleep with Criston at a time that could have been AFTER she told me she was still a maiden but I’m gonna get mega-ass pissed anyway for reasons. Lemme find my greenest dress; that’ll show everyone. Criston again: Princess turned me down. Princess is marrying a man who she has an agreement with. Man has a lover. Lover spoke to me about keeping each other’s secrets. Only logical choice is to kill lover in the middle of this wedding. I thought this episode was a mess. Perhaps just me.

If Joffrey found out, how soon until it was used as blackmail?

I looked at my H and was like is this a filler episode? It feels like a filler episode. It's so slow.
And then scream. Oh.

It seems like they all made really weird decisions. Ones that may just lead to death for some of them. If this is the last episode before the characters age again it maybe makes a little sense for them to do drastic things but also, it was weird.

Daemon grabbing her face like that was very bold, in the worst way.
The betrayal was not at all enough for Alicent to flip a switch like this. She was her bff and secretly meeting with the king for months but Rhaenyra’s lie was this big deal?

I found the Criston proposal sweet and sad initially. His reaction to her response was a huge red flag though. Fuck him for telling Alicent and not having his emotions in check.

I felt like Alicent flipping was that she realized that her dad was right about her kids being a threat that Rhaenyra would have to deal with when the King dies.

What happened to make her feel this way though? I understand the logic behind it but I didn’t get this vibe from Rhaenyra at all, and they were life long friends. Her lying about losing her virginity doesn’t equate to murdering Alicents children down the line. Alicent supporting her seems like it’d quell the flames on usurping, which would remove her children from being a threat. Imagine the amount of bloodshed and destruction that could be avoided with a normal conversation lol.

Like, it would have made more sense if other Strong child (with the bum foot) told her about the moon tea and she concluded that something happened with Daemon. THAT would make her reaction make sense: you lied, you got my dad fired, you slept with Daemon, you are plotting to get the throne and kill my kids. But Criston? Like what.

And then she came in all late to piss off Viserys. What does he have to do with this? Or was it to disrespect Rhaenyra? She seems nonplussed.
And she wears green but some wedding guest has to explain her entrance and color to the audience thus diluting some apparentlt “bad ass” moment.
Messy story telling.
