I’ve always felt like a little explanation could have happened along with the gun pointing. But it wouldn't have the same drama. We made our own drama in the 90’s!

The whole Alice in Wonderland comparison is a big part of this, but in the book, Wonderland isn't the real world. So the question then becomes, is the Matrix actually the real world and the "outside" fake?.

I'm pretty sure they could have just told him what it is. All the theatrics...

I never read the books. 20 years later, I’m still not sure I understand all of the theories.

I’ve had a few dreams that I would stay in happily, lol. For sure. There are parts of the real world I'd happily never deal with again.

Ha! Okay, I’ve read Alice but I didn’t like them very much. Certainly, as a child I’m sure I missed lots of bigger picture plot points. Also, not good at philosophy. Such a disappointment to my Philosophy 101 professor, who adored my older sister who was good at it.

Nebuchadnezzar is a weird person to name a ship after. Right?! He enslaved those he conquered.

You ever think it's funny that humans are actively trying to create VR that would reflect a Matrix like experience?

Also, we could have created a symbiotic relationship with the AIs. Especially since humans tend to form a pack bond with anything.

Yeah, I feel like people would weirdly go along with being “batteries” given the right “perks”.

Yeah, I feel like people would weirdly go along with being “batteries” given the right “perks”. If I could run my house on my own power without having to do too much work, I'd do it.

Our TVs used to be boxes, kids! They were furniture! And they had a dial to change the channel! You had to stand in a specific spot for the antenna to work so you could get your three channels to come in. And things only came on at a specific time.

Tank is one of my favorites. Here, he is in a this post apocalyptic world, and he's so upbeat.

I think the lack of culture shock helps. Tank doesn’t have anything to compare it to or miss. Plus, I feel like the computer geeks always have to be quirky and fun loving in movies.

I grew up with high wire Chinese movies and I still remember how awesome it was to see glimpses of it in an American movie. Of course, when Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon came out a few months later…
