jaygee I get it. We are heading to the beach in a few weeks. DD 2 will be 4 in August and she has never ridden on the rides at the boardwalk. DD1 had probably been 10x when she was that age. I’m hoping our number look ok and that I feel comfortable with her riding them this year.

While the twins speech struggles and other developmental issues for sure could/would have happened without the pandemic, all the professionals I have talked to have said that the pandemic has profoundly affected infants, toddlers and preschoolers and their development on a broad scale. So perhaps my twins wouldn't have as bad of a speech delay, etc. if we had made different choices due to a non-covid world. Who knows. I think the pandemic has affected every child age group and development in different ways, unfortunately. Just another reason to have simmering rage at all those who made it as bad as it was, and still is.

overboard, are you alright? Haven't seen you on in awhile and just hoping you're keeping busy in a positive way. Hey, I’m ok. We went on summer vacation and we all came down with Covid after. We are all finally feeling better. I also started a new job that’s keeping me super busy. Virtual hugs to everyone have a tough time right now. We are still trying to get a diagnosis for my middle child, and I’m feeling pretty worn down.

I know it's such a long, hard journey but I'm wishing you many more moments of light and hope ahead, and sooner than expected.❤️

My 2014 is struggling more than my 2012. My 2015 is a whole other parenting challenge, but he missed a lot of out of school interactions due to locations. My 2017 is TBD, but has missed out on more than I prefer.
Word vomit ahead wrt 2014 When I’ve had to meet with teachers or faculty at school about various incidents, I’ve always reminded them that their K year was when Covid started. Their 1st grade year was practically virtual or very separated by individual classes and they got close to a small group. When they assessed how to switch up the groups, they didn’t consider how they mixed the groups back up. It was a shit show with no social management of all of this stuff that now 7/8ys we’re figuring out, when they would have been from 5y-7y. Not sure this is making sense. Maybe this particular group just has more kids who think they are slick or just don’t know how to interact with the larger group, but woo I’m tired.
I remind them every time though, because it isn’t something any of us have managed before. Sometimes it needs to be a group thing and not an individual, especially with this generation.

I lasted six months in my old position. I worked with an awesome team, but I learned that I don’t function well without a quiet work space.

Ahh clucky that is absolutely what I’m seeing here with my incoming 2nd grader. Last year was really hard socially because he just didn’t understand social cues and how to engage with other kids appropriately. He had a small group of friends but has a hard time knowing how to interact with a larger group. I see a lot of difference in how my other son’s grade interacts. They are more fluid with how they play as a large group.

I fell down some outdoor stairs onto rock/gravel and banged up my knee and elbow pretty badly. And now I'm paranoid because the fertility doctor said no "jostling" this first week after our transfer. In my brain I know its probably fine but anxiety doesn't listen to my brain.
I didn't realize there were so many 2013 kids here. My Feb 2013 kid has some struggles but I don't really know what's "normal" for this age or what could be pandemic related since she's my oldest.

I have a very random question for you all. We'll be shipping DD's trunk to camp. UPS is quoting us 2-3 days from day of shipment to delivery. How far in advance would you actually send it?

I would be extra cautious and ck with camp if it arrives before she does what will they do? Some of our camps if it arrives early camp marks it return to sender. Also some of our rural camps have to go into town to ck their mail where their ups deliveries also end up and they don't go every day. Camp also might know how deliveries are running on time early or late.

I’d plan to ship it 5-6 days in advance under those circumstances. How long is she going for? I wish my eldest had any interest in sleep away camp!

PSA for anyone super into Halloween decorations, Home Depot has released theirs, including the super popular 12 ft skeleton and the 12 ft pumpkin man. They always sell out really fast so I thought I'd pass it on in case anyone else here is interested in that sort of thing. 🎃

That way you can send her with a few extra supplies in her carryon if it’s running late. I hope she has an amazing time. Summer camp is the best!

I watched it and enjoyed it ok but I knew going in what it was going to be. I read a review that said it’s “Austen given the Fleabag treatment.” Lol.
