We got a parking pass to our state parks, which includes several beaches and a nearby busy lake. Last year I also got a membership for a closer, quieter lake, but now I’m feeling cheap and don’t want to. I think the busy lake ( stringy, that busy one) plus my cousin’s pool about 15 minutes away, will suffice? I think I’m gonna become one of those people who open water swims at the busy lake at 6am.

We spent an hour and a half at the pool Sunday then 6 hours at the lake. I didn’t rub the sunscreen in enough on my swim suit line. I most definitely have a slight burn right on my tan lined. Also I nearly died when one of the guys at the beach proclaimed “this is what 31 looks like!”. I looked at my husband and laughed. He hurt his back 2 weeks ago by putting a water bottle down the wrong way.

We're visiting my parents and in-laws in Southern California for a few days. The June Gloom weather held over for me, and I love it! There's the usual family drama, but overall, I'm so glad we're here.

I will come open water swim with you! Though wasn't there some controversy about allowing it anymore? I think if you are good with early morning family swims busy lake is great. Especially during the week. Or you could drop a mortgage payment on the pool club we started going to during covid summer and can't quit. (DN recc. though I love it). I am worried my kids will resist lake swimming now. But remember you can always evening swim at lakes after they close. The one in L-town at least. No gates.

We celebrated L's 6th birthday last weekend and it was a huge success! The weather was beautiful and the kids played in the water, and it was nice to meet all of the parents.
I normally make all the kids' birthday cakes but this time, for the party, I bought one. I regret not making a cute cake, though, so I'm going to do one this Saturday as a way to celebrate my parents' last weekend here. I'm also planning a lunch date with MH on Saturday to make the most of our last chance having babysitters.
My parents are coming back at the end of August and we booked a cabin at a lake for a week. We'll celebrate my dad's, my husband's, and C's birthday that week.

I’m thinking about taking a day off this month and getting a tattoo. I fully support you and would like to come along virtually.
