Heyyyy!! Omg work has been insane. Today is the first time I've felt caught up enough to take a BMB break. This pregnancy is flying by! I have a RCS date set for 10/18. I have bought nothing for the nursery and feel way behind all of a sudden. This is how I've felt for the past few days - way behind. Being a STM, I know he'll be fine with clothes, food, and a place to sleep. But I'm ready to have his nursery done and organized for the sake of my sanity. Yes, exactly. I'll just feel better having it complete. I also scheduled a maternity/newborn photo package and they do the newborn pics in your home. That's what I'm feeling the most pressure from.

thatgirlrachel, another Gerber prefolds fan for burp cloths. The nicer burp cloths that were branded as such were just too much more expensive to justify getting them. DS didn't really have many issues with reflux/spitting up so I'll just be reusing them - they should still be in decent enough shape. (Though I haven't looked at my stash in a while to confirm. I need to do that and look at my newborn and 0-3 month outfits.)

What does everyone prefer for burp cloths? With DD, I loved the Gerber prefold cloth diaper inserts. They were really absorbent and just held up great. Those seem harder to come by this time around. They also make the flannel burp cloths, but I really preferred the diapers. This is my plan. My local Kroger has the Gerber prefold as does BRU. I may order some random kind off Amazon, but the diapers are my plan.

Happy birthday little CoachTsWife! I'm glad your little guy had a fun party arimaythea. I don't Fahrenheit well but pregnant people don't need to be hot unnecessarily. I have central air now but didn't when I was pregnant with DD and it's unbelievable the difference it makes. I was so unbelievably swollen with her from the instant it got hot out until she was born (sept) and this time I'm not swollen at all! cythe I don't cat but my BFF has two and they put tin foil in the bassinet for a month or so before their little guy was born and the cats figured it out quick and avoid it like the plague now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I ended up using little receiving blankets with DD as burp clothes because she had reflux and spat up an insane amount. Better coverage and I had so many of them! We also cloth diaper so I have a ton of prefolds I can use too
I do the research and purchasing of baby stuff but I make sure DH and I are both proficient at assembling and using everything. I am a stickler for car seat safety and since DH does drop offs on the days I work and occasionally my mom needs a car seat so I made sure he knows all the rules and how to install etc. Our main car seat is auto tightening/click tight but the back up ones are the standard strap to tighten and sometimes I need his brute strength to get it right

We got back from camping last night so DD and I went to the carwash and vacuumed out the van this morning and finished unpacking (it started pouring as we got home yesterday so we only unpacked the necessary things as the van doesn't fit in the garage with the roof rack on). Now I am spending the day doing laundry and relaxing

cythe, before DS was born I put aluminum foil all over all of the baby stuff. It freaked my cats out and they never tried to go near the baby stuff again. I had read this somewhere and it worked for us. My cousin tried it and it didn't work for her cats. Not super helpful, just something that might work. CoachTsWife, hope he is having a very happy birthday! arimaythea,I am totally side-eying this 80 degree business. I feel like 70-72 degrees is the standard, accepted standard for a reasonable temperature. Some people like it a little higher (74) some prefer a little lower (68), but 80 just sounds crazy to me. In all the buildings I've managed our standard setting has been 70-72. Most hotels set this as the standard as well. If you're cold you can always put on a sweater or socks or a blanket or something. If you're hot, there's only so much you can do that is socially acceptable. I'm probably a little too worked up over this, but I'm so hot right now and it's so hard to cool off. Glad your husband is supporting you. Re: baby gear- pro tip, practice putting the car seat into the base and taking it out and practice folding and unfolding the stroller BEFORE the baby comes. I did not do this last time and almost had a panic attack in the parking lot for DS's appointment because I couldn't figure out how to get the car seat out. Passed the 1 hour GTT. YAY! It's a cold, rainy day here and I stayed up too late last night watching GOT. I just want to nap.

CoachTsWife Happy birthday to your DS! Hard to believe our babies are two already. arimaythea Happy belated 2nd birthday to your little guys as well! Also, I'm sorry your ILs are being awful about temps, 80* is way to hot. Happy your H is being supportive though. : ) cythe That is some serious attitude, I love the "this is now mine" facial expression, lol.

Feeling fairly well rested, despite how late I decided to stay up last night. Took DS on a walk, and to the park. He somehow managed to fall out of the slide about halfway down, and landed face/head first into the wood chips. He's completely fine, just a few scrapes on his face, but nothing major. He cried for maybe a minute, luckily we had his beloved blanked along so that helped him calm down pretty quick. Then he asked for nuggets, so we headed home after that. Now it's nap time, and I've just devoured an entire package of cheesy tortellini.

@thatgirlracheal DD didn't spit up much so we loved the Carters ones that were sold at Walmart... I got the prefolds too but never had to use them. I think my SIL kept them because I couldn't find them when I was going through my baby stuff.
Neither of us practiced with any of the baby stuff before DD showed up, it was a bad scene. He also did the car seat install and insisted he read the instructions. He did not and for the first two weeks of her life she was not strapped in the car seat correctly. I was at a baby store and the lady noticed something was wrong and showed me how to fix it.

I got 2 packs online at BRU. DD was a huge spitter upper (later figured out she had a milk protein intolerance) so I had to get all new ones. I also love aden and anais burpy bibs- great for a burp cloth and they turn into great coverage bibs when LO starts eating solids!

I have a meeting with HR today regarding my maternity leave. There are 5 teachers in the school district due in October!!! 3 other teachers had babies this summer, and another 2 have already announced early 2018 babies. I don't envy the higher us trying to find coverage for all of us! There are 16 of us in my department...and 6 of us are having/had 2017 babies. And we don't really have coverage, persay. It's been an interesting year... Hope your meeting went well!

It's been a relaxing day today. For someone who's supposed to be taking it easy, I've been pretty go, go, go since last Tuesday. I intentionally did nothing today, and thankfully DD was happy with that. It's supposed to cool off a bit tonorrow, so it'll be a good day to walk and maybe a trip to the park with DD.

DD has an A&A snuggie (actually she has two but one's a backup). She loves her "puppy" and it has been a huge help in any transition: sleep training, stopping nursing, going to daycare, big girl bed... I have already been scoping out what baby#2 snuggie will and I think my one big non-justifiable purchase for this baby will be a new set of "A&A silky soft swaddles". Love me some A&A too!
