DD3 is sick - she slept horribly the last few nights and kept sticking her hands in her mouth (one of you suggested teething, right?), so I started to suspect teething, too. Then last night her temp shot up to 103, so nope, not teething. This morning we went to the pedi and she did a swab for scarlet fever (pretty common around here, even though in my mind it's classified as an 18th century disease that killed people. Today you have to treat it quickly and for a relatively long time with antibiotics, but otherwise nbd), which was thankfully negative. Just a virus. So we're hanging out at home today, and I hope it clears up quickly.

No, scarlet fever can develop from strep throat, but here, at least, it skips pretty much straight to scarlet fever with a sudden, high fever and a rash together with the sore throat. They have another word for strep throat (Angina), which DD3 had this spring. I never heard of any friends getting scarlet fever in the US, but here I know tons who have had it.

Must be a different strain of the streptococcus bacteria that is more common there or something? I know one kid who has had scarlet fever here, but that's it. Does she have a bad rash then as well? No, but the rash usually comes a day or two after the fever. She asked if she had a rash anywhere and checked out her hands (I assume also ruling out HFM because I told her DD3 was sucking on her hands and fingers a lot, which she usually never does), but then did a swab and quick culture and it was negative. I'm guessing it's also some other strep strain. She definitely used the word for scarlet fever today, though, and not the word for strep, which is what she used in April when DD3 had strep. I dunno - I just always immediately think of Little Women whenever anyone says their kid has scarlet fever.

Success! Sort of. I called H's benefits company last week, but they only answer the phones Monday to Friday 6-6, and I called at like 6:05 Friday night. So I had to wait until today to call back. I talked to them until they needed to verify some stuff with H, and after that was verified he put me back on. We needed them to send us a password, and since he doesn't have an email address on file with them (weird), they have to send it in the mail. 7-10 business days.

I just planned a much needed date night for H and I. We haven't been to the luxury movie theater in a couple of years. You can order food and drinks to your seats! I might just move in.

Today is my last day of my camp. Thank goodness. I'm super nervous because the kids are performing their reader's theater piece today for their parents and...it's going to be mediocre at best. But, by 12:15, I will be done and loading up my car.

Has anyone seen the show Extreme Weight Loss on ABC with Chris & Heidi Powell? The show isn't on anymore but they recently came out with a transformation app to help people get into shape and now they are coming out with a food delivery service. They literally live like 5 minutes from my house and DS goes to the same school as their kids. They posted on Instagram that they are looking for local people to try out their food delivery service TODAY and asked people to comment on their post if they are interested in trying it out. I hope they pick me!! FX!!!

They've been redoing the siding in our complex since the end of May. They started on our house today. I woke up to no power in my bedroom or bathroom, and the sounds of siding being pulled off the wall behind my head. I'm tired and grumpy. And I have to move my van out of the driveway so they don't damage it.

This sounds amazing! There is nothing like this where I live. I need to move. dizzycooks Have all the fun! I managed to swindle a weekend at my mom's with no H or baby. I'm repaying the favor and dogsitting her two at her house while my parents go away for the weekend. H at first didn't really understand. He kept implying he and J were coming too. No H. No you are not. It's going to be glorious. He will be fine and J will be fine.

Camp is over and I took a looooong nap this afternoon. Heaven.
H's mom comes tomorrow to stay until Monday. We had the house cleaner come today so I'm not freaking out right now :-)
We are trying to think of things to do with her. There are days when she's going to be here where the temp is forecasted to be 104-106. 😳. We will all melt.

One of my neighbours' kids took off this morning. She's 6. She got grounded yesterday, so she ran away because she was mad about that. She's been gone for a couple of hours, I think. Her mother, understandably, is losing her shit. She's a sweet kid, she plays with S a lot. Her mom has looked everywhere she can think of, when I left she was going to check at the school playground.

They found her. She was hiding in our bushes. And while her mother was at the school waiting for the police, she went to another neighbours house to play, and his dad took her home, because her sister had already told him that she had run off. She's grounded at least until school starts, and I don't blame her mother one bit.
