First episode is on Disney+. I'm enjoying Steven's confusion and the flashes of time he switches personalities. I love that he stole that cupcake truck. His poor fish though.
He thinks he's been sleep walking. He doesn't know he's got multiple personalities.
I want to know how the villain "weighs" people. I'm sure that woman was a good person. And what exactly does the scarab do?
I admit that the Egyptian Pantheon is not one I know especially well. So the background of these gods and goddesses is relatively new to me as well.

I watched it yesterday, I don’t think I’ve seen Oscar Isaac in anything before but he’s incredible. I figured there was some type of alter personality thing happening, but I also know positively zero about moon knight. I’m dying to know the significance of the fish’s fin being different sizes and the pet store lady saying he had just been in. You’d think he’d come back after a week and he thought it was a day, but it’s the opposite.
Cackled at “the idiot is in control again”. Sir, the idiot controlling my body is always in control, so count your blessings. Lol. Sounds like the Egyptian gods can inhibit a human, and call the person their avatar, but Steven has two other voices in his head, Mark and the one who keeps calling him an idiot?
I felt so bad for him though when he found out he accidentally stood up his date and was trying to order steak. Poor dude, I felt some sad things at that scene.
Anyway I loved it, as per, can’t wait for next week!

And that "Mark" replaced the fish and bought it at that same store, trying to tell the lady that he needed one with only one fin. H is also of the opinion that Steven Grant isn't the original or primary personality. Time will tell, I'm sure.

I finally watched last night. I really enjoyed it. What a trip. I’m not my in a lie, having nightmares as my primary PTSD symptom, some of the scenes were triggering. So I will have to keep that in mind as I go forward.
I was also curious about whether Steven is the primary personality or if Mark is.

Episode 2 done. I'm more convinced that Steven is not the original or main personality. Mark has a whole life with a wife and everything. We've yet to see anyone Steven knows outside of the museum staff and the street performer he likes to bother.
I feel bad that they lost the scarab, but I'm dying at him "putting on the suit" and it being a three piece suit. All dressed up to go to the brawl.

But yes, he's sort of adorable with his crazy ineptitude.

H tells me that the 3 piece suit is actually canon for one of the alternate personalities who's a lawyer. Which if I had known would have been a great little easter egg, I suppose.

I liked this episode but I don’t love the weird ass god thing. Lol. I don’t know why but the way he looks just is so fucking disturbing and weird. I know that’s probably the point but ugh I want it to be less unpleasant to look at lol.
I agree that Mark appears to the the primary. The coincidences with Stevens interests with Leila’s (is that the name?) interests, Mark having a wife to begin with, etc. I am curious about the history of Mark becoming one of the avatars to start.

Another interesting episode. I feel like we are supposed to root for Mark and kinda Kanchu (sp?) because the alternative is siding with the guy who essentially wants to be the next Thanos, right? But the “good” side is still complex here since it sounds like Mark has been wrecking havoc as an avatar.
Wonder when/how Layla will find out about the avatar stuff.

Do you mean that Khonshu wants her? Because she definitely knows about Mark already. H made mention of how ableist the pantheon was. Because Khonshu's avatar isn't in "perfect health", his claims are disbelieved. I'm surprised the other gods couldn't feel that Arthur has hooked into Ahmet's power. I loved that we got to see Steven nerd out on all the ancient Egyptian things, though.

Yeah I was referencing how he’s brushing off the comments about him hiding things from her which I took to mean that Khonshu pursuing her or more about the god stuff in general. I also agree I like the Steven nerding out and making the star lol. I’m assuming we also are learning that there may be a second alter, since neither Mark or Steven knew what had happened in the earlier scenes?

In canon, the third main personality is a Jake Lockley. But I believe he has others. Who knows where the show will take it?

So episode 4 was a trip. Also, the majority was really really dark. H and I were having a heck of a time trying to see ANYTHING on screen. Then the psychiatric hospital bit was really bright. I know that's a common trope, but it was interesting to watch. I don't know. I have more thoughts but not sure how to categorize them right now.
Did love Steven nerding out on being in an actual tomb.

I agree that it was very dark lighting for a lot of the episode.
So Steven and Mark are two separate people or they are the same person but they are being kept in some kind of alternate reality where they are separated? Is it all in his mind still, and they altered his mind to make him see it this way? I have so many questions based on that last scene and where this is going.
Also can someone remind me why the statue that was buried with Alexander the Great was sought after? Is that the god that Ethan Hawke wants to release?

I think the psychiatric thing is all in his mind. We'll see more next week (I hope). And yes. Like Khonshu was trapped in a stone effigy last week, this is Ahmet's. I'm not sure exactly how the gods can be released from them, like if it just needs to be broken or if thy have to have some big ceremony.

Ep 5 was amazing. I'm so blown away by the acting. Although I'm a little COME ON MARVEL when Steven went overboard. I was expecting for a second alter to be discovered in the other sarcophagus in the psych ward and for that be what balances the scales. Am v sad that losing Steven was how Marc got to the field of reeds. And v sad at seeing his past. Damn, the pain in this episode was almost too much. I like when shows do the "which is the real reality" episodes. There's one in Buffy that was really good too. This one seemed super inceptiony, like it got me right up until Dr Harrow called his mother and it being a dead line seemed very much like that wasn't reality either.

I think I am still confused on which is reality, lol. Was I supposed to know for sure by the end?
Idk. This last episode was so so dark. I had horrible nightmares after, I think because it triggered for whatever reason. What an absolutely awful and heavy thing to carry with you.

Just watched the finale. Wish there was more, but it felt like they appropriately concluded it all. I love that Layla is her own force and was very against being anyone's avatar. See Marc, she can answer for herself. But when she took Taweret up on it, I loved it. Taweret is a much different personality than Khonshu for sure. I loved the outfit she got, though I do wonder at wings coming from the Hippo goddess.
Love that Stephen is back. I knew they wouldn't get rid of him entirely (or at least hoped it). I did laugh that he's still tethering himself to the bed though.
And I was right that the third personality was Jake Lockley! He's a much darker one than either Marc or Stephen.

I would also like to add that H wondered why Layla didn't just start freeing some of the other trapped gods. I commented that it would be difficult to know who would be on what side here.

I enjoyed this as a finale. I am still a little confused, I think, lol. Am I correct that the entire timeline was reality as far as the gods, the fighting, etc, and that everything that happened in the "asylum" places were just in his head?
Anyway. My H had the same comment about smashing all the gods, haha.
And then are we to assume that Ethan Hawke is put into a facility because he was left for dead, and now the Jake personality is going to kill him?

I think Khonshu can't personally kill him and since Marc/Stephen declined to, they put him in a facility. But Jake is a little less inclined to mercy. I'm thinking all the Marc/Stephen asylum bits were in his head, but like with the Buffy episode, you're supposed to be left open to interpretation about what's "real", etc. Also, I find it interesting that the Egyptian pantheon are actually gods and the Norse/Greek/Roman ones are more aliens/Eternals. Like sure they are immortal/long lived, but the Egyptian ones seem to be actual gods with actual god responsibilities and avatars. I wonder how the other pantheons might work out.

athn64 That is a good point about the gods being different for various mythologies. I didn't think about that. Also are we the only two that finished it? lol. It certainly was a heavy series and very different.
