It's supposed to start raining here pretty quickly and basically continue throughout the weekend so I have some indoor cleaning/organizing projects planned. MH and J are at the farmer's market, I'm enjoying the quiet with M and my third cup of coffee. I'm actually thrilled that it's supposed to rain all weekend because that means my husband will be inside and can get all my projects done

Nothing. Which is great.

More yard work today, fertilizing our lawn and weed eating at the rent house, which is the worst. Later I'm going to a funeral with DH, and then MIL and SFIL are bringing the kids home and doing some maintenance work to our mower.

Some friends are coming to meet the baby this morning then R1 is helping a friend work on his truck later. Tomorrow is the farmers market. No other plans. Hopefully napping.

This morning the kids and I picked up free chicken wire posted on our town's yard sale group, mailed a package that had been ready to go for MONTHS, and then went to the farmers market.
Each kid got a muffin and a cookie. We're trying out all the vendors. I have one I like the best but I try to diversify.
I got a cup of lemonade for myself from one tent. Then I walked away. And left. Without paying.
I realized about 5m away, came back, paid, and was given a chunk of banana-rum cake for being so honest.
Now H is complaining that he's hungry. EYE ROLL.
Can't wait for nap time...

Here's M being cute with her romper and chocolate crinkle cookie. I actually really dislike the look of this romper, but it's really hot out.

My husband is out of town this weekend so I'm just taking it easy with L. I had a poor sleep last night because I never sleep well when I'm alone, so I'm tired and don't want to do any running around.
My goal is to finish the novel I'm reading over the weekend.

Tidying up and getting ready for our camping trip on Monday. I'm tired and it's hot and I really just want to nap.

We are less than halfway into our long drive home and it's not going well. Tomorrow will be for laundry and grocery shopping.

We went to the mexican meat market and got marinated skirt steaks and chicken legs for fajitas. So we fired up the fire pit to grill this afternoon. Omg they're so good. Plus S enjoyed swinging too.

After yard work Grandpa and I met DH for lunch, then we went to the funeral. After that DH got a call that he had to go out of town, so we called MIL and asked her to keep the kids an extra night so I could go with him. If you need me I'll be sitting in a booth eating ice cream while he works.

DH is out of town until tomorrow afternoon. This morning was a hot mess of the kiddos either fighting over cheerios or G fighting me/his morning nap. The afternoon however went much better. I tandem-wore the kiddos to check out the gymboree closing sale...only 30% off...so nothing impressive there. Man, they're heavy!! This evening some old neighbors dropped by with their 3 week old. Those tiny baby grunts...oh my heart! Now I'm just relaxing watching baseball and sipping a beer.

I had such a good day with L, he was so sweet and funny. I always dread my husband's trips out of town but today was actually really nice. Bedtime was a breeze and I'm about to enjoy a bowl of coffee ice cream while settling in to do some reading.

I ended up with plain chocolate chip, but my ice cream didn't last long, and this place is packed so I look like an ass for hogging the booth. I'm contemplating going back for a second scoop, but DH is working where he can see me now and I feel like that would be mean since he didn't get any ice cream and he's been on the roof for the last hour fixing the A/C.

We stayed local and visited the Thomas Edison estate and laboratory then got ice cream. R got her first stamp in her US National Parks passport. I'm so excited to collect these as she grows Today, we're heading down the shore. We'll just stay for an hour or two so the kids can dig in the sand then come back home. It's supposed to have cooled off so I don't think 72 degrees is swimsuit weather.

Friday D had a friend spend the night. I used that as an excuse to make cinnamon rolls for breakfast yesterday. So yummy. Then they met one of DH's buddys and another kid to do some pitching/catching and batting practice. Then D had karate. Quick lunch and then they went to see the new Spiderman movie while G and I ran some errands. We met D's friend's parents at a pizza place to eat and watch some baseball.
Today we have nothing planned. It's going to be great.

Saturday we hung out at my parents' place most of the day. It was nice to catch up and the girls enjoyed their visit. Today, we went to a local nature preserve/park and had a picnic lunch followed by outdoor play in their "Discovery Grove" area. And then S made an amazing dinner from random stuff we had (dairy-free cheesy grits w/ meatballs and homemade tomato sauce from tomatoes we grew). Then the girls turned feral and we sent them to bed early. A is sleeping and R is still playing solo in her dark room. Overall a good weekend, but there will be wine tonight!!

We finished up the projects we've been working on with my dad this week and my screened-in porch is finally re-screened and re-trimmed and the doggy-door and new screen door (that the dogs had broken through) are installed. Super excited that it actually looks nice and we can get to work decorating and getting some new furniture for in there. Saturday we went to a cool concert with my parents - Hans Zimmer, the movie composer, did a touring show with a huge orchestra/band/choir and they played pieces from his movies, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Sherlock Holmes, Crimson Tide, Inception, Wonder Woman, Man of Steel, The Dark Knight trilogy and Gladiator. Highlight was the performance they did of music from The Lion King, which included Lebo M., the original South African vocalist who sang the opening of Circle of Life and other songs. I got a little choked up, honestly. It was a really cool and dynamic show, hard to describe. If you are a fan of film music, I would highly recommend seeing his tour. Yesterday we hung out with my parents again (their last day) and went out for sushi for dinner to celebrate my birthday. It was really nice. Nugget finally said "Amma" and "Ampa" last night, which they were very excited about. Sad they are going back home, but it was such a good visit and Nugget enjoyed spending time with them. rugger, "going feral" is the perfect description for how kids turn when they are overtired! We call Nugget "the beast" when she gets overtired and suddenly goes from normal to giddy-violent and tries to claw your eyes out.

We had a decent weekend, J was working so it was mostly just M and me.
Saturday we met a friend/former coworker of mine at the science museum with her two kids (5y and 8y). M was obsessed with her 8y daughter, and they ran around holding hands which was adorable.
Later, after quiet time (and M did not nap), M had a complete screaming breakdown, somehow related to the unicorn emoji. It went on for about half an hour beginning I threw her in the car and took her to drop in daycare for a couple of hours. It was great, I relaxed a little and picked up the house, and she played and ate dinner there.
When J got home he decided to make adult beverages with the juice from our watermelon, and they were awesome. When we ran out of juice, I attacked the watermelon with the immersion blender, which worked like a charm.
Sunday we had church, and I helped out with children's church for the first time, which ended up being pretty fun. Sunday afternoon we went swimming for a bit.
