Apparently, I have very strong early morning sushi feelings.

Fair point, OR. I've come to accept my "un-American" aversions to hot dogs, American cheese, pb&j sandwiches, and Blueberry pie. We'll just do lunch table tradesies and everyone will be happy

Sushi is amazing, you all are missing out. I would eat sushi every week if I could afford it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Theoretically, you make a good point, though. Why would one keep something on their list that they can only afford to eat very rarely? Also I find it insane that you all are like, "YOU NON-SUSHI PEOPLE ARE DOING IT WRONG", and yet some of you same people distain bananas or beets or mushrooms or hot dogs - and that's, of course, totally logical. Whaaaaaaaaaa? This is true. And sushi isn't for everyone, but I feel like everyone should try it once. I'm also in the "I'll try anything once" camp though when it comes to food.

We have sushi nights and make it at home. We can't afford it other than special occasions but still enjoy it at home.

We do California rolls and I'll chop it up and mix it with mayonnaise and sriracha to make a crab salad type roll.

See I feel like sushi isn't sushi unless it's raw.

I disagree. I don't prefer raw sushi. But there are a ton of veggie and cooked rolls that are just delicious.

I wouldn't use grocery store fish though.

Tuna can be eaten raw straight out of the sea, whereas most other fish (like salmon) need to be deep frozen for 2 weeks before they can be eaten raw. If a market has sushi grade salmon presumably it has been handled correctly, but tuna is just simpler (and easier to find).

Donuts. There isn't anywhere in town that makes really good donuts.
Safeway does good Apple Fritters, but I can replace donuts with other baked goods.
Although, I may go and pick some up for the ladies at work tomorrow now that it's on my brain.

We can get sushi here that is pretty good, but we've been pretty picky and haven't actually eaten it in a while. SO is pretty anti-fish due to Fukushima.

A sushi trip still isn't complete for us without hamachi Kama (BBQ tuna collar) or ikura (salmon roe with raw quail egg), so I'm on a different spectrum.

FFSC: I also feel like 90% of people who talk about loving sushi come off as super pretentious so that colors my opinion of the whole issue. But I suffer through this from almost all "foodies," and I know it's my issue, not theirs.

I'd give up the tacos. I can't live without BLTs or sushi and I do love me some donuts.
