Another Monday, another flight.
I'm starting to see the same people at WallyPark. 😭
Thankfully I have a break next week. I feel like the weekends are way too short with all this travel!

It is raining for the 4th day in a row and it is cold so I am just angry I had to get out of bed.

It's rain and snowmaggedon here. Power is out, trees are down and there's deep slush everywhere.

Our power went out over night and just came back on. Thank goodness DH had a generator so the basement didn't flood. Showered at my mom's this morning and trying to enjoy the peace and quiet at the office.

2 hours kayaking, an hour playing at the beach and a very late dinner yesterday did the 11YO in. He made it until lunch at school and then gave up. He’s in bed resting and I am very much jealous.

I’m ready to throw the towel in on my work and the house. H ignored me that I thought we had a mouse in the house (which isn’t uncommon with being country/rural) but apparently the mouse was pregnant. I’m not happy at all.
And work is just a shit show again.

I have had a roller coaster 24 hours, but my sweet girl, who has a hard time with math, came home with a 💯 on both her unit test and her two timed multiplication tests today, so I’m going to ride that high.
Her tutor was so happy, too!

I decided to work from home today because the roads were cluttered from the 11 INCHES of rain we got in the last 24 hours. I'm sitting on the couch with a blanket on my lap trying not to doze off

Round ligament pain kept me awake last night, then I threw out my back loading the dishwasher this morning. I'm in a lot of pain.
Then DS2 took a nap for half of preschool this afternoon. Kid, I pay tuition. Please stay awake and participate like every other kid.

I'm home with my 2 year old who had a low fever. He is currently fighting his nap. I'm ready to go lay down too but the dishes are calling me.
I filled out an application for a home loan too. Maybe someday we'll buy a house. I'm in the fantasy stages at this time.

It’s so chilly and we don’t trust our furnace yet, we ran it the other day and it immediately smelled smokey in the house - maybe just burning off a years worth of uninhabited dust but we have someone to come look at it tomorrow. So in the meantime to keep warm I’m spooning the dog and cuddling under a big blanket, and I ordered KFC for dinner - making great choices! I had a pretty cute sick day with DS and he’s ready to go back to daycare tomorrow, he let me know multiple times today.

Just got a call from DS's school principal that he was pushed down during recess and now DS's glasses are broken.
I called H to give him a heads up, and now H is mad at me because I didn't ask the principal about the other family paying for DS's new glasses.
It didn't even occur to me to ask that question.

brux poor guy. That’s awful. Yes, the other family should offer to pay if they are able.

The school won't tell me the name. And then how would I even assess the ability to pay... If DS was the pusher, I'd work hard to find the other fam to offer to pay. But as the pushee, I'm very much a DNW to do anything more than quietly buy DS some new glasses.

We went to the beach yesterday too! It was gorgeous and go great pics of the younger two. Too bad my oldest was there or I would have a holiday card picture. Womp womp. I'll never be able to re create that light.

I don’t know that I would think to ask about paying for glasses. I guess I kind of take with a grain of salt that accidents will happen recess/ gum class when you wear glasses.

Ugh that's so hard brux. I hate confrontation so I probably wouldn't have even thought to ask that question either. As an aside, check with your ophthalmologist or wherever you get your glasses, many have warranty time periods. Both MH and my 3 year old have gotten free replacement pairs of glasses under the warranty period (my kiddo's were purchased at the eye doc's office but MH's we just got from Target). Worth a shot for free glasses 🤷♀️

The sun came out after the blizzard this morning. There are still a bunch of places out of power, but we decided to get the kids out of the house to go to the indoor put put pub foe the first time. Yummy beer and happy kids.

Oh and I scheduled my foot surgery for January. Hopefully my boss is back by then and if I get the position I applied for it will still work without a huge disruption. I can also push it back further, because there isn’t a real chance of injuring it further, but I’m ready to be out of pain.
Since I can roll around on a knee scooter, I won’t have to be out of the office for more than 7-10 days depending on pain management.
It’s still going to be a suck, but the ortho said today that chances of being completely pain free in 4-6 months is a reasonable assessment. 🤞

I has my first day of work today. I was done at 4:30 but by the time I went and picked my kids up, came home, talked with MIL on the phone (was talking with her in the car after getting the kids) it's now 6:00. I'm already exhausted thinking about doing it again tomorrow.

The annoying part is that the broken glasses are loaners from the eye doctor while his actual glasses were being repaired. Of course.
But, we just got the original ones back today (timely!) and the eye doctor said they thought we won't have to pay for the broken loaners, even though it's technically our third pair under the warranty.
DS was mostly worried that we'd be angry at him, poor guy.

When I was in 7th grade, this asshole rich kid walked past my desk, picked up my glasses that were sitting on the edge of my desk (I didn’t need them while reading/writing), snapped them in half, and kept walking.
My dad raised enough hell that they finally paid, and I mostly just wanted to crawl in a hole. This was also pre-Zenni when glasses coat $400 a pop.
Gosh, middle school is the worst.
