I can't believe that October is already here, it feels like September did not even happen.
Overall, September was a good month in that I got back into a workout routine and I am finally feeling settled from the move and the new job. So I have big plans for October.
October goals:
-an increased focus on stretching and some yoga -finish the discover your power zones program (which I am loving!!) -focus on more balanced nutrition w/ a decrease in sugar (it's been out of control) and an increase on fruits and veggies at every meal
Go get em this month, ladies!

Happy October y'all! This is always one of my favorite months. The period from October-December 26th just always makes me so happy. I am looking forward to all the fun fall and holiday things. I can't believe it's here though...September was over in the blink of an eye.
September was okay. Way better for me mentally than August was but not so great on the workout/food front. This month I will plan it out better and hopefully get back in the groove.
As always this group is so motivating and supportive. I am so grateful for you all!

I can never keep up in here, so I stopped posting. I'm going to try this month.
I joined a running club. I'm on the slower end of my pace group, but it is motivating to get up early on a Saturday and run with people. I'm trying to run 3 days a week, and do strength 2 days a week. Stretching every day.
I don't have anything I'm really training for, I'm just trying to enjoy doing something for myself.

C&P from the September post because where the hell did September go? CF this morning. It was a repeat workout from 2 years ago and I beat my previous time by over a minute, so I'm happy with that. It's nice to see that even as I'm getting older I'm not necessarily slowing down, regardless of how it feels sometimes. I'm hoping to get a couple of runs in this weekend. I realized this morning that I haven't run a race in 2 years. Covid cancelled all of my normal races last year and it didn't even occur to me to sign up for anything this year. I need to get back into the groove and see what I can find. I miss the training part and the feeling of accomplishment I get from working through the training calendar.

I'm not going back to look at my goals. I need to imrpove in every area. this month goal is to survive my half marathon on 10/23. i am not running for a pr but treating it as a long run during my training for the november half. otherwise i need to incorporate more strength, less wine, and more veggies.
today is yoga for active recovery.

I keep pretending like one day I will fully join in and post more regularly vs lurking- but I am not good at it. Anyhow, I want to shout out whomever recommended HCOTF to someone last month. It pushed me to join something other than beachbody which I have started and restarted so many times I basically have all of the workouts memorized for the first 2 weeks of them, I got bored, so I would quit and restart every couple of months for the last 3 years. Peloton was super overwhelming when I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet any pay for another subscription (I don't have the bike, recently purchased a proform). Anyhow, I checked out HCOTF and the calendar, started last Thursday and am OBSESSED with it! I love the variation of the different instructors and the fact that every workout is different. Super happy with the APP and now the community on FB. I am not good at organizing a workout at all, so I need a video or a plan, HCOTF was just what I needed!

Hi.
My September goals were to lose a few pounds and finish out marathon training.
Last time I weighed myself like a week and a half ago or something, I was down about 5lbs, which is nice. I won't weigh myself again for a couple weeks until I get my diet roped back in after my race.
My marathon training completely fell apart last month so I basically gave up this past week. I just didn't have it in me to even try to recover some semblance of training. I'll run my race this weekend then reset my workout intentions.
October goals are just do workouts that make me happy and feel good, but I NEED to focus on getting workouts in before work in the morning. Also to lose a few more pounds. Whatever I can shake off is fine.
Happy fall!

I’m so proud of myself for September. I tracked my food every day and lost 4.4 lbs.
I have a getaway next weekend, and I’m going to do my best to track but still enjoy myself.
In October, I want to keep up my daily walks, and keep tracking my food.

Starting the month right with a 7 miler including 1600m intervals. I hate mile repeats. Hate.

I’ve got a 10 miler planned for today. Gonna relax for a few minutes then get FIL up and settled before I go.
No real goals for October. I have a half and committed to a 50 mile group ride. Also getting together with my old swim partner to talk about hiring a coach and getting myself back on track.

I seriously can’t believe it is October. Wow. Everyone has been crushing it!
I am KOKO. No specific goals other than continuing to get back into my workout routine. I am 10 weeks pp so still focusing on you know, functioning as a human being.
I am trying not to focus on weight, but have been slowly but steadily losing a bit of the baby weight. Maybe 0.5 lb per week. Even though I had tailored my macros to be for maintenance. I am going to continue that because milk supply doesn’t seem to be an issue, and it’s plenty of food.
Hoping to get a ride in today in addition to preschool walks.

How is it October ALREADY?
I dug up my September goals - it was a mixed bag.
I started tracking with the Lose It app a week into the month and had my first weigh-in since then (I'm doing on the first of every month as it's mid-cycle). I didn't lose anything. In fact, I gained .02, which is kind of laughably sad. But I guess I could have gained more than that.
And in the spirit of focusing on the positive, I did accomplish a lot of what I set out to do:
1 - Continue doing 5/6 workouts/week ✔️ 2 - (Re)-start the Road to Your 5k program ✔️ 3 - Do a fun run or walk as the third cardio session/week ✔️ - there are 3 runs/week in the Program as of Week 2, so that took care of itself 4 - Get back into the walks at lunchtime and in the evenings with MH (nothing that would be considered brisk, but just to get back into the habit and decompress) - I did this a few times but not as often as I would have liked 5 - Cook at least 2 meals/week which will take care of meals 2 other days with leftovers ✔️ 6 - Focus on healthier choices and portion control while still making room for snacks - Still a work in progress here 7 - Water, water, water! - Still a work in progress here 8 - Do a sleep or other meditation 3 nights/week - I don't know what happened this month - I'm not sure I did 3 total in the entire month and I used to do these almost every night. I think I've just been so tired after doing a bit of reading before bed that I just turn out the lights and there go the meditation plans.
I'm going to keep the same goals and see if I can't get some more checks. I'm also planning to do a 5k race (virtual) before month's end.

For September I wanted to build consistency and I finished the Build Your Powerzones program so I think that was a big win!
For October: - Follow the HCOTF calendar for the month - Power Zone Pack Challenge (4 rides/week) - 800g challenge
This morning I started October off with a 20 min Glutes/Legs and 45 min PZE + stretch.

My Sept goals were to focus more on me and I think I did ok with it. Met my therapist and I’ll start going to her monthly or every 2-3 weeks. I wish therapy wasn’t so expensive. For activity, I want to ride 5x per week and add strength 3x per week. Like cnf I’m going to need to train myself to get up early before work or it’s not going to happen. I always feel better on workout days but woof to getting up at 5 for funsies. For food, h and I need to cut down on grocery costs. Like big time, it’s insane. So I think smaller meat portions or more meatless meals might be a place to start. And maybe cancelling the Costco membership because that place always works out to a $300 visit and I don’t know what happened.

Happy October! This month I just want to get through Chicago, and hopefully feel pretty good going into November for New York. Veggies, hydration, minimal alcohol (definitely nothing for a 2 week period before each race.)
I need to keep up with PT, and I’m hoping to feel good enough to do some legit speed work between Chicago and NY. I’m trying to just enjoy these races and feel proud, even though my training hasn’t gone as well as I would have liked.

My September and October goals are the same - follow the HCOTF as much as possible. We’re leaving for Disney in two days so I’ll be starting the month off with a break but that’s ok, I’ll get back to it when we return.
Today I did: - 10 minute core with Olivia - 20 minutes of barre with Hannah - 20 minute lower body with Chase - 30 minute 90s walk with Andy (Andy is another 1980 baby so his music choices are always a home run for me. Also, he was in good form on this one. He was less golden retriever and more weird stoner kid lol. I say that with affection)

I did an easy 5k this morning. I was in much less pain than I’ve been in in a while. Hoping to maintain or improve until next weekend!

What’s the 800g challenge? It's basically just trying to get in 800g of fruit and veg (around 6 cups) per day. It's not like a pass/fail challenge though, more like just striving toward it for each day.

Would any distance runners here be interested in a free VERY lightly used pair of Nike Alphafly’s, women’s size 10/ men’s size 8.5 ? I wouldn’t recommend them for regular training, but primarily as a race shoe.
They are the obscenely priced carbon plate Nikes.
I got them right when they were released earlier in the pandemic when I needed some joy, with the intention of breaking them out when racing began again. But, I’ve done a couple of runs in them, and for a number of reasons, they don’t work for me. They are super cushy and bouncy though. They have less than 25 miles on them.
(Don’t worry, I will be using my OG obscenely priced Nikes, the Vaporflys.)

I have high arches and supinate and my very quick research says these should be okay for that.

I was considering canceling my membership for the same reason, so I did an experiment where I took everything that I bought during a big Costco trip and calculated how much it would have been if I had gotten the same brands/quantities at Kroger. Costco ended up being over $200 less than it would have been had I bought everything at Kroger.

I got my workout in during lunch.
- 5 min pre-run warmup with Matty - 30 min EDM run with Olivia (Week 3/Day 3 of Road to Your 5k ✔️) - I ran outside as it's another gorgeous day. This was a challenging run for sure and it made me feel good to hear Olivia breathing hard as she took us through jog/run/hard run/sprint intervals. - 10 min Bodyweight Strength with Robin (Week 4/Day 4 of Road to Your 5k ✔️) - a good mix of single-leg bridge holds, clamshells lifted off the ground, toe touches, squats and walkouts to push up ladder at the end - 5 min post-run stretch with Chase

I did a 10 minute climb ride with Alex (beat my 10 minute PR! Not really saying much since I rarely do those and they are usually cool downs, but I will still take it lol) and then a 20 minute 90s ride with Denis. Denis is just so soothing, and I liked this playlist.
Food is kind of up in the air, especially because I think we are getting takeout for dinner. Probably sushi because that’s what we both usually want.
B- bagel breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese, lots of coffee with pumpkin spice creamer and collagen peptides
S- ABC bar from Trader Joe’s (with almond butter- pretty good!)
L- leftover Lillie pasta bake
S- probably Built bar because I’m addicted and it is perfect for my sweets craving in the afternoon
D- sushi, wine

I did okay for my September goal given all the other life events going on around here. Hopefully we can avoid sickness this month!
For October, I hope to get in more peloton classes, and generally eat healthier and do less take out.
