Magnatiles are the best. DS still plays with them at almost 9.
They have new sets with animals this year and I am tempted to get them. They are so cute!

I am at a completely loss (DS is 6) BUT I brought him to my brothers the other day and he and his cousins (age 6-9) alll were going crazy over the little tykes big waffle blocks. They were building chairs and other structures to sit on and having a blast. They spent the WHOLE time I was there doing this. So that’s on his list at least. We have these and they are a favorite. If you think he will want to build forts and things like that, I'd definitely recommend a second set.

Dangit, I thought this was going to be a thread with ideas for ourselves. 😂 I never have any idea what to ask for.
I stocked up on a couple coding robots on Prime Day for my 5 and 7 year olds, and they always love makeup or nail art kits.
I think my almost 4 year old and 2 year old could really benefit from some sort of indoor energy burning toy. I think I could benefit from it as well 😴

Those are going on DS2’s list. Magnatiles are by far our most used toy. Even if they aren’t directly playing with them they will grab them to add to their other activities.

I feel like DS never uses his Magformers. Are Magnatiles better? Or would it make much difference if he's already not into the one?

Maybe he needs a larger set of wooden blocks.

He has a small set of blocks, but I think the M&D set would be a nice addition. He got his first real Legos for his birthday, and he enjoyed it for about 30 seconds and was over it.

Ariana grande’s actually smells good and I borrow it sometimes

My 3 (ages 8, 10, and 12) prefer their Ezy Rollers to their scooters. They get lots of use. I looked at these last year, but I waited too long to pull the trigger. My kids all have winter birthdays and will be 13, 11, nine, and seven. I was thinking of going for the drifter pro? What do you have, if you know.? Drifter Pro would be perfect for the older kids, but not sure if it’s too big for the younger kids. We have 1 Ezy Roller and 2 Drifter Xs. The Drifters are favored and they come with 3 bars that allow you to adjust for length of the Drifter/adjust based on kid height, so my youngest has been able to ride the Drifters too.

I need a suggestion for a small gift for my grandmother. I want to do something that honors my grandfather with it. I’m at a loss. I got her a wind chime with his information engraved on the pendant for mother’s day and an Apple Watch for her birthday/christmas combo (but early), but I would like her to have something small to open. She moved halfway across the country suddenly last month, so my plan on giving her a case of homemade wine was thwarted since we can’t ship it. A lot of people have given her framed/canvas photos of him and them. He always gets her precious moments, so I thought of that, but I don’t like any of the bereavement ones Any ideas? TW** My grandfather died of covid complications in April. They were married almost 52 years. She will be 70 in December. She suddenly listed her house and sold it for cash next day last month and has moved from PA to KY to live with my aunt and her family.

My DS is 7 and still plays with them all the time. He got them at probably 3 or 4? Now he builds “headquarters” for his super heroes with them. We actually have Picasso Tiles, which are less expensive. I feel like they would work interchangeably with Magnatiles sets, too?

If anyone is looking for a simple card game for kiddos of a wide range in ages, I highly recommend “Taco vs Burrito”. I would say good for 6 or 7 and up. (There’s a little bit of strategy involved so probably too hard for younger than that w/out help.) My newly 9 year old got it for his birthday and everyone in the family, even the 15 year old, enjoys it. A game lasts around 15 minutes.

I was going to say precious moment or willow angel thing. I wish you could get something he wrote to her and have it engraved on something. I would check Etsy they have necklaces and things I’ve been looking at

DH just asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I mentioned I want that pasta from The Sporkful. I know piratecat mentioned getting it. I can’t believe I spent $30 on 4 boxes of pasta, but I’m really excited.

Ugh. I go here now. Even my dad (who does not Christmas shop, but consumes a lot of news) was raising the alarm about shipping delays and production issues at Christmas time. So I asked the kids to start thinking about what they want.
So far, DD (10) wants a new bike (she’s outgrown hers) and a Juan Soto jersey. She could also use winter clothes.
DS (7) has no clue what he wants yet ☹️
I’m going to read back through this thread and get ideas.
