I’m wondering about a scooter for my 4.5YO. The two-wheel Razor scooter ($20 at Target BTW) says 5+. Do you think my kid who has never used a scooter would like it? The three-wheel micro kick board scooters are so much more expensive and I’m not sure he would even like it. I would not recommend a 2 wheel scooter for a 4yo with no scooter experience. Mine started on Micro Mini scooters at 2.5yo and just before 2yo. My 6yo has graduated to the next size up Micro brand but it still has 3 wheels. I say go for the Micro and then sell if he hates it…but I bet he loves it! The Micro mini I think says up to 5 but he’s pretty small for his size. I wouldn’t mind the price if he’d gotten it when he was younger and it would last longer, although there’s always the baby.

DH’s aunt is a baker. She has some kind of domed plastic thing for cakes, but said like 10 times she wished she had a nice plater for desserts on Thanksgiving. To fit inside the dome? I’m not exactly sure. What do you think she needs? I felt like this was an opportunity too good to pass up. Is it like the glass domes, but plastic? Basically a big lid for it? I wouldn't get hung up on the size of the platter other than making sure it seems big enough to hold what she typically makes. I would opt for a little bigger to be safe. Cake plates tend to be pedestals, so I'd just look for a round serving platter instead.

Omg. My parents are impossible to buy for. I dread Hanukkah every year because it causes me anxiety. And I hate picking up something they won’t like. They are just super hard to buy for. They have more disposable income than DH and I. My mom is super modern so she doesn’t care for any of the typical grandparents ideas. They don’t drink. Or have specific hobbies that I could buy something for. They don’t have pets. I have used up all my good ideas for previous gifts. Now I am stuck. That's when they get a framed picture of the kids, maybe a homemade kid craft and a plate of homemade treats and call it good. Or maybe a calendar with pictures of the kids. Or a magnet with pictures of them of some kind (if they are magnet people. I know some aren't).

Has anyone bought a kids smart watch that they like? I’m looking for my 9 year old. He’s into the idea of tracking activity/steps. I saw some that have reminders for things (brush teeth, leave for school, etc.) and then some can make calls but I’m not sure if that’s really necessary or not? Any good ones I should look at? Everyone around my area that has one seems to have the gizmo. We got DS a garmin watch a couple of years ago and it’s fine. He is hard to motivate so he never got too into the chores aspect of it. And that one doesn’t take calls or anything. I’ve noticed the kids who have it at DS’s age (almost 9) all have older siblings and parents that have to to juggle multiple schedules and pick ups. So the calling feature seems very helpful. We aren’t there yet with DS so we are holding off but when we do we will probably get the gizmo.

Maybe it's something you can build on? Would a cozy blanket and new slippers/comfy socks go over well? Do they do plants (indoor or outdoor)? I tend to just wander aisles until I see something.

I found a place setting I want while looking at serving platters. Thanks a lot byjove. Actually I may let H use that for mine, so he thanks you.

We went from the 3 wheel Micro to the razor last Christmas at 5 years old and my (uncoordinated and fearful of physical activity) now 6 year old still can't do it. And she tore it up on the micro.

Two of mine did absolutely fine with two wheeled scooters at that age and one didn't. The two who were daredevils were the ones that did fine. They also don't mind falling and trying again, the other is more cautious and hates not being great at something right from the start.

Yea I think mine is closer to your cautious one and the two wheeler will be too risky.

She loved that thing and zipped around so fast. It was one of the best purchases ever for us. She used it until she turned 9. She had a razor scooter, too, and hated it.

Kids can go fast on them and control them so much more easily than the two wheelers.

I’m not sure the specific model DS2’s friend has but they are 7.5 going on 8 and still enjoying their three wheel scooters. My twins are very small 10 year olds and had fun on them too.

Am I just out of luck for the bluey camper this year? It’s the one thing my nephew asked for.

Otherwise I see people selling new ones on Facebook Marketplace (they are marked up but not completely outrageous) ETA you might be able to have it shipped from meijer.

If you are looking for the Peppa Pig Play and Go Camper Van, Cracker Barrel has it available on their website

Quoting myself to say I went ahead and ordered because DS would love it, but he doesn't need it - if you can't find one it's yours. I got the one without the 4WD vehicle if that's okay, we already have that from last year.

Thanks everyone! Amazon gives me an estimated arrival date in January, so that’s why I’ve hesitated ordering from there. But I do have a Cracker Barrel close by! I’ll check there. I always forget about their store because we don’t eat there. No meijer unfortunately.

I just ordered the LOL dollhouse. DD1 original one broke in the move. And it is literally one of the only things that made her holiday list every time and consistently asks for it. DH goes she is 10. But her best friend just got it. And she LOVES dollhouses. It was on sale too.
