I'm working from home today, which basically means I'm everyone's snack bitch and not getting anything done. MH is at his office and I'm the only one at my office that has power. Good times.

Hi! This morning was rough. For the first time L did not want to go to school. I carried her crying to the bus stop and then she clung to me crying while I basically forced her on the bus. A did well at preschool drop off but I could hear my niece (also 3) screaming from the other end of the school so I went to help her with her youngest so she could basically force my niece inside and run. Whew!

Morning. I had some work appointments, i still had the sniffles (no other symptoms), so I took a self test again (negative) and asked my coworkers if they were okay with me sitting there. This is not going to be fun… I have colds very very easily, being tired results often in me losing my voice and the worst seasonal allergies, so a runny nose and a scratchy throat is just me for most of the year. I mean not working I’ve had about 14 Covid tests (not including the at home ones) 🤦🏼♀️.
I made onion soup for tonight and will turn in early I’d dd2 allows me…

Nothing too exciting today. I have the 2nd interview with the company I talked to yesterday, at 1130. H left this morning to drive to Waco and get his service truck. I'm looking forward to some evenings by myself (after Evie goes to bed).

Hello from the Lowe’s parking lot. V had her first dentist visit this morning and I had my first cleaning since getting my braces on. She did much better than I was expecting. Of course she fell asleep pretty quickly after getting on the road so now I’m stuck in the car. I got lunch, ate that and now I’m waiting for her to wake up. The toilet seat in my master bath is loose again and driving me insane so I’m going to buy a replacement.

mwhip good luck today! trtlcrzy do you know what the estimate is for how long you need braces? Both my kids have jacked up teeth so they'll both need them. Cass asked me if she could get Invisaline instead of braces. Sorry kid! Unless child labor returns and you can start working no can do!

Wow, L is testing the limits today in full on toddler mode. He’s finally starting to talk more but when you don’t know what he’s saying he gets so mad. And the constant repeating and zero patience is making me want to pull my hair out. I gave him lunch which he refused now he’s demanding cereal and a banana. We settled on a pouch and I will be putting him to bed ASAP. I’m going to blame this on the 2 year molars coming in, because I sure hope there is a valid reason.

The kids are at school and I'm trying to get work done early so I can exercise and chill. 1 assignment done, 1 to go.
MH and I were talking about kid activities this morning. M's TKD class is going to cost a shit-ton of money. It increased a lot from last year and I was telling him I think this is the only year we can do it. He starts off on a tangent about activities in general and wishing they'd be into an instrument because that would give them a lifetime of enjoyment for little cost. I just stared at him and thought "dude, where is your insight?" He has guitars and a keyboard. The only time the guitars get touched are when a maid dusts them. Despite me paying for many years of keyboard lessons he never plays and has never taught the girls like he said he would. He commented that the horseback riding lessons are a waste of money with no return. I remarked that they get pure joy out of it and maybe when Cass is an adult she'll have something to do with horses for her career. And if not, I don't think every hobby needs to have a return other than the joy you get out of it. I'd like them to play an instrument too, but they have shown no desire at this point and I know plenty of people who never picked up their recorder again after 4th grade.

I don't think the interview went well. I'll be really surprised if they make an offer. I hate, HATE, the typical interview questions, although I know they offer insight into an applicant. But they're so hard to answer sometimes. Like, what are your weaknesses/what do you need to work on. Dude, I don't know, I'm trying to sell myself here! And then when they said the lady who I would be taking her position was 'sweet.' I was like, no one has ever used 'sweet' to describe me. Oh well, at least I was honest.

Hi. Busy work day for me. Should be a slow afternoon.
I made that spaghetti squash last night and I liked it a lot. I’ve never cooked it before. I sautéed some kale, red pepper, and onion to go with it and it was yummy. Definitely doing that again. Pretty easy cooking wise, too.

mwhip I once got the question ‘how would your coworkers would describe you? And I answered (truthfully) with ‘sweet’. The look of the interviewer 😂. I did not get the job.

I cleaned out some bookshelves and craft drawers today and have a nice pile of donations to drop off. Josie is starting tap up again tonight, and super excited to see who's in her class.

mwhip I hope they can appreciate your honesty. I haven’t interviewed in a very long time but one summer I worked at Bath and Body works and they asked all these ridiculous questions like “describe your perfect day.” It was so not worth the $7 an hour I made. I also remember my friend telling me in high school she went on an interview for a music store and they asked “if you knew your best friend was stealing from the store, would you report them?” She answered “absolutely not.” She did not get the job.

I had an interview for a co-op job at The Boston Globe when I was a sophomore in college. It was my first interview ever and had no idea what to expect. The first question- “how would you view what the Globe does?” I said “Aren’t you a newspaper?” It didn’t get much better from there. They called my advisor and said I needed some work on my interview skills.

I have a 2nd interview with the VP of the company I talked to last Friday, this Friday, over lunch.
So what do you all say when you are asked for your weaknesses? I never really know how to answer that.

I never really know how to answer that. I care too damn much and I'm way too devoted to my work. J/k. Sorta. It's such a stupid question because I think no one wants a truthful answer. A good way to answer it is say something along the lines of "One of my main weaknesses used to be not delegating work enough/having difficulty advocating for myself/asking for help when needed/whatever, but I've been working on this and am a lot better at this now." So basically pick some mild issue, but say how you've addressed it. I never ask people this question when I do interviews because I think it's so stupid.

Last week power went out at my work on my day off and they all just took off home and didn't work the rest of the day (despite having remote capability). Why doesn't that happen on my office days?

Play up what some may consider a strength on the employer side, too considerate of others- like taking time off when others are off, etc. something like that.
