I feel like M and C have been some level of stuffy since the school year started. There was one day that M felt like crud and we kept her home (and a mask at school the next day). But otherwise, they have been at full speed ahead. Everyone has tested negative every time. It feels weird to be sending stuffy kids to school again, especially with what we know about how one's person's mild illness is another person's severe illness. But that's the world that we're back in. I just hope that the other bugs do their runs and revert to their old mild, occasional world.

You guyyys, it finally got us!
Hubs had a sore throat Monday night, worked out Tuesday like usual, but after his shower, he got hit hard with flu-like symptoms. Wednesday he realized he checked all the COVID boxes (except fever) so he did a rapid test and it was positive.
The rest of us tested and, with the exception of A, all tested positive. R and I have had very mild symptoms that we thought were lingering cold and/allergies. Nasal congestion for me, and a lingering cough for R. Our energy level has been fine all week.
It's now Friday night and poor hubby is just up and down, mostly down, and his cough is still pretty icky 😷. I've been sleeping in R's room on a pull out couch since Wednesday just to avoid the extra germs. Alex has remained negative on tests and symptom-free.

It finally got us here too. 3 years is long enough I thought that I might be one of those magic people who is naturally immune, but no dice. Last month we went to a crowded school event and didn't mask. Both girls got super mild covid (about a 1/2 day of feeling miserable and a day or two of coughs). I had a cold, but tested negative and so assumed that I had covid too. All 4 of us stayed home all week with no family germ protection. DH didn't get anything. Then a few weeks ago we were flying across the country and figured that we had all been stewing in covid and come out unscathed, so we didn't mask at all. Ooops. DH picked up covid toward the end of the trip and I picked it up from him. We were both run down at the end of the trip and started getting a cold, but attributed it to travel. When we got home we all tested and tested negative. I went back to work wearing a mask (thankfully) and tested negative a few more times. By Friday I was feeling on the mend and took off my mask, including a 2 hour closed door meeting with my advisor. Then on Sat/Sun DH started feeling worse and decided to retest on Monday morning. I had a "different" migraine, so I tested too. Both lit right up. Like before the solution even made it to the control line. Blerg. I also realized that I lost my smell and had lost it for at least 3 days at that point. The covid math was so hard to work out, since I was already 7 days out from symptom onset. Especially since I have a lingering cough (22 days out from symptom onset) and I was still testing positive just a couple days ago. The CDC says that you can test positive on antigen tests for a few weeks after clearing the infection. My energy level has been fine throughout and the cough has just been a minor annoyance. I'm actually shocked that I didn't accidentally infect anyone that I know of. I was visiting my elderly father when we got it. I was at work right after we got back. Thankfully I was masking at work, but I was only wearing a surgical mask, since I was testing negative. We still haven't had any workplace covid transmission and I would hate it if the culprit had been me.

We still haven't had any workplace covid transmission and I would hate it if the culprit had been me. COVID math is so weird. Such an odd virus. R and I tested negative after 5-6 days of quarantine, and stayed that way. A never tested positive and was symptom free the whole time, so I guess she had some good natural immunity. Hubs initially tested negative on day 6, then retested on day 8 (per CDC guidelines) but his lit right back up again. So, he just finished the full 11 days of quarantine before venturing out again.

I have these weird feelings/memories about covid since we're coming up on a year since my family had it. It was likely from one of MH's students since the no mask on planes rule was enacted over their spring break, and he caught it the week they all came back. His spring break is next week, and I'm nervous it'll happen again.

mapleme , I missed you had it too. Sounds like you're on the upswing now and I hope that's true! Yup! It was all mild, but it definitely has lingered. I'm about a month out and I still had a lingering cough until last week. Now I just have a throat clearing congestion. And my heart rate kept randomly spiking for about a week afterward, which was annoying. But it's all pretty much good now. It's also handy, because when we were visiting the ILs, we did lots of crowded things (restaurants, grocery stores, etc) and I only saw one mask the entire time I was there.
