J has a class all day Saturday and Sunday, so I talked my mom into coming for a visit. I’m so excited to see her, we always have so much fun.

Our day started with me combing two huge mats out of N's hair. She had had two braids in it overnight on Thursday and they looked good yesterday morning so I just left them in. Then the top of her hair got tangled in velcro and I had to cut some of it out. It was just before we went for a scooter ride so I just plopped her helmet on. Then she went for a walk later in the day and wore a cap. And somehow, by the time it was bath time the base of each braid was horribly tangled (I didn't realize how badly). My husband then proceeded to wash her hair with the braids still in. So when I saw her hair after her bath I soaked each mat in leave-in conditioner, put her to bed, and had a cry at the thought of chopping all of her hair off. I've never seen anything like and I still don't understand how it happened. ANYWAY, I was able to comb most of it out this morning but a lot of hair came out in the brush and I had to cut a couple of knots.
I'm getting a haircut tomorrow. It is desperately needed. Right now it's down to my mid-back and I'm thinking of cutting it to collar bone length.
Other than that, the only thing on the agenda is N's baseball on Sunday.
A vent: MH's job creeps into the weekends more and more lately. It's starting to get me down because even though he spends time with us, I can always sense his underlying anxiety about getting back to his computer and it gives me anxiety, too. He had several articles that he needed to write, but they've all been written now and it's still the same.

Today I'm going with my mom and bestie for supplies for Ws birthday party (it's not for another month but we got money today that I had earmarked for it). Tomorrow is supposed to just be a chill hang at home/clean up day. Then Sunday we're supposed to go check out the property and we're having a rib cookoff at the campground - my parents, uncle, and us are all getting a rack of ribs to do our own way and then they're going to go on the smoker to cook.

We are at my MIL's this weekend. First time we have left our house overnight since we moved in! It's in the mid 60s here with a cool breeze and it's a refreshing change in temp. MH and I are heading out for the afternoon for lunch and stopping at a couple breweries. I'm excited to sit outside in the sun without sweating!

milano, I’m jealous of your mild weather. There is a heat advisory here today, heat index expected to be 102-105.

My work day doesn't start until 2 (boo). The girls and I have played Monopoly and a fun game from our Spanish language box. I'm really digging the Talkbox.Mom system, so hopefully I can convince S that we should keep ordering the boxes

Kids off headed to their dads for the week. I’m planning on binging Netflix and finishing my book in the hammock. And maybe having some friends over Saturday night for a bonfire and drinks.

We're having cooler weather too! Actually wearing sweatshirts with shorts today. I had a pelvic floor therapy consultation this morning. I have a lot of work to do, but I loved the PT and feel good about our course of action.
R is at the in-laws and E and A helped me clear out and organize the play room. Nothing big planned this weekend besides hanging out. Next weekend we're babysitting my 3yo nephew and 10 month old niece while my brother and SIL attend a wedding near us. We'll have 5 kids under 6.5. Luckily my girls are pretty "easy" (compared to baby/toddler) so it will hopefully be fun!

Working at home with the big kids today. They've been tolerable. J is supposed to be coming home early so he can take them to the bike path and then pick up the baby on the way home to allow me some peace to finish up work.
Tomorrow we have a first birthday pool party. Hoping to take L in the morning beforehand to be fit for her glasses and get those ordered.
Sunday will be low key. Likely cleaning this wreck of a house and getting H in the nursery.

It’s hot AF here. Our Dinnerly box for this week never arrived so we have nothing for dinner. 😩
I’m finishing up work, then I guess I need to grocery shop. Our house is truly a disaster. I need to do a lot of laundry & clean up. Sunday is DS1’s final swim lesson of the summer.

Feels like fall here too.
Currently watching the women’s soccer game and having a beer.
P has a kindergarten meetup in the morning. Then I’m dropping them off at my ILs. Then taking the pup to meet a potential sitter. Then apparently going to a concert w BM and two other couples. But BM has to work from like 6 am til 5pm and I dunno if we are gonna want to plus covid is feeling iffy again.

I wore jeans and a sweatshirt today. In July. It’s weird.
We have another chill weekend this weekend, before it gets crazy again. We have family visiting this week, which felt a lot safer back when the plans were made. But boy I’m looking forward to seeing them.

Bedtime for kiddos! It's storming out, which is amazing.
Tomorrow, we have a picnic to attend, hosted by our realtors. I'm pretty excited to go and hang out and chat with other adults.

I'm also jealous of those of you getting cool weather! Other than a couple of cooler days last week it's been endless hot and sunny days here. I'd love a bunch of rainy days or a big storm.
MH is working all evening so I had a long shower, folded two loads of laundry, and started a movie called Bliss. I haven't watched a movie in so long.

It’s cool here (72). But I got all three kids going (and myself) and we are at the pool.
I should have brought my coffee.

I’ve been feeling rough in the self-care department lately, so I decided to paint my toenails this AM. Of course DS2 somehow smashed my glass nail polish bottle before I could start. This is my motherhood experience in a nutshell.

I’ve been on vacation for a week. Hello, all.
Pretty glad to get out of a state with so little masking - I think things in New England are going better than elsewhere, generally. But a lot of people have abandoned all protocols, so I’m ready to get back to my mostly-liberal bubble with more (not total) masking and outdoors-option everything.
Like, we just passed a restaurant we definitely ate at last year. It was outdoors in the blazing sun, I remember clearly.
This year: they’re still open, but with no outdoor seating option.
I’ve seen several signs, “no mask required because NH is FREE!”
My eyes roll back so so far in my head.

I am definitely in the whatever it takes to keep my kid in school this year crowd.

Hey, hey! We’ve been enjoying some cooler weather this weekend too, which has been a nice change. My mom and had some overlapping vacation days, so we took the kids camping for a few nights and ended up making friends with the family next to us. It felt so normal! I can’t believe it’s August already. I’m trying not to panic about school starting up, work schedules, childcare, etc. I have no plan.

Drove out to the property and checked out our clearing. It will need to be opened up a bit more if we're going to build on it, but it has a ton of potential. Also a ton of birch and maple trees! I see maple syrup in my future! My uncle didn't wind up doing ribs, but consensus was that the dry rub on my parents ribs was better, and the sauce I made for mine was better. So I guess the "winner" depends on whether you like your ribs sloppy or not!
