In true to her WI roots Molly said at the end of race, “drink a beer for me” to her family watching from home 🤣🤣

Anytime they show anything about the Canadian soccer team today I start crying.
The host on CBC this morning said something about Sinclair rallying the next generation back when she started and now the next generation was on the field with her today and seriously I’m just a ball of tears and emotions.

Race walking is on. I know I could not do it but the announcer just called some guy the “greatest walker alive” and I’m laughing. There is so much flopping back and forth in this sport. If you know what I mean. It’s amazing - it’s 50k! That’s over 30 miles 😳. They kind of look like they’re slow jogging to me, though - I’m not really sure what makes it walking. One of the realtors on Million Dollar Listing is or was a competitive race walker, and she WALKS 7 minute miles. I think the rule is that you have to keep a foot on the ground at all times? That’s what H and I were speculating when we were watching. But then some guy looked like he was picking up his feet so IDK.

The heel to toe movement, I believe. I just googled because I had to know lol. Apparently one foot has to be on the ground at all times and the front leg has to be straight as the other moves past it. You can get penalized or eliminated if you don’t do those things. Even so, some of these guys still look like they’re running to me! Okay glad to know I was correct!

There were definitely some guys not keeping a foot on the ground!

One of my favorite things to do is guess the rules of sports that I don't know just based on what I see. Like, I could look it up, but I get a weird satisfaction figuring it out on my own.

I'd like to see arm wrestling be an Olympic sport.

I just watched her dives on YouTube, the female commentator made a comment about how a lot of young divers don’t have the leg strength to jump off the platform with enough height, my mind immediately went “hello, ever watched gymnastics lady?” 😜 — I realize gymnasts have momentum going for them, but still. Anyways, INCREDIBLE. I hope this girl is able to excel in diving for a long time.

Look, vollyball again! LOL
I really enjoyed the women's marathon yesterday. Those women are all amazing. I really wish they had been able to have the crowds cheering for them, but what fortitude they all had.

As tired as I am getting of volleyball (it's always on!!!), I had to look up why some people on teams wore different color shirts in indoor volleyball. It was making me crazy.

The woman’s marathon was awesome. I can’t believe I got sucked into watching it but of course I did. The heat and humidity they ran through - wow - quite literally I would die. So impressive and great to see USA medal.

US indoor women’s volleyball team plays in the gold medal match tomorrow morning, so you’ve got at least one more match that will be on lol.

She did great! What a way to wrap it up. I would've been pretty intimidated walking up to the line against that team.

The artistic swimming is just ridiculous to watch. They make it look so damn easy and fluid.

We just watched the rhythmic gymnastics and the Russians coach was just awful. The Averina twins competed and one of them had a knot in her ribbon. Any flaw is a major point deduction so she didn't make the podium. Her coach was visibly pissed at her and totally ignored her during scoring. It was painful to watch.

You can't even tell they are taking a breath when they come to the surface because they look so relaxed as if they weren't just holding their breath while doing a routine underwater for the past 30 seconds. I'd be gasping for air by the time I came up.

She's a legend in every sense of the word. I hope Nike is feeling an extra big middle finger for the way they treated her, too.

Oh my gosh I was so scared for Sifan Hassan in the 10,000 meters when she was on the ground after winning - it felt like so long for the medic to get there. I can't even imagine where any of the women running that race found the strength in that heat and humidity.

I’m arguing with people on Twitter this morning about the disaster of the equestrian part of modern pentathalon. It was hard to watch and legitimately animal cruelty.

Many comments say that pentathletes are not trained well in jumping, typically have poor form, and put themselves/their horse in dangerous positions. Many are saying these people aren’t equestrians at all and felt the horse simply refused to do something unsafe. Then the whole hitting the horse for not performing was an extension of the already poor treatment. It’s a mess.

They are jumping 1.20 meters for this, which leaves little room for error and can be quite dangerous. This is the kind of thing that totally fries a horse and can get a person killed.

They mentioned the height of the jumps being high and contrasting with the skills of the athletes. Ugh. The history of the pentathalon is the skills of an 19th century soldier. Maybe …we need to move on?

They should also probably require a minimum amount of training and experience with riding.

It seems really outdated at this point.
