Aruba, Jamaica, oh I want to take ya Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama Key Largo, Montego, baby why don't we go, Jamaica
Off the Florida Keys, there's a place called Kokomo That's where you wanna go to get away from it all Bodies in the sand, tropical drink melting in your hand We'll be falling in love to the rhythm of a steel drum band Down in Kokomo
No, I'm not at a beach. I'm working OT from home but fantasizing about being far away from here. We sang this song in 6th grade choir. The choir teacher was a total school marm wench. She reminded me of Rev. Lovejoy's wife on The Simpsons. Every time it got the "we'll perfect our chemistry" part she turned down the tape and wanted us to repeat a previous lyric because that was apparently too risqué. Everyone knew the song so the just sang the lyric extra loud.

I'm not at a beach, either. Boooo One of the bosses was yachting in Jamaica for the last week, though. His wife's family has $$$.
Today's agenda includes getting new jazz shoes for Cadence and turning cardboard boxes into a barn/horse stalls for her toy horses. Fun fun.
Also, at some point I need to cut my foot open and get whatever is stuck in there out. It happened a few weeks ago, I stepped on what felt like glass, thought I pulled it out, but there's still something in there. Cadence is very excited to watch the extraction. 🤦

klong11, lolz, at first my eyes went wide to your boss yachting because my mind went to the blinds version of it. I'm sorry for that visual for you. We need to get our girls together. Cass and C would have a ball playing horses together and Mad and C could do their gross out things together like watch extractions and junior horror movies. Good luck digging whatever it is out. That sounds miserable. I bought this set of corral fencing and it's been a huge hit. Makes for a nice gift. FYI, Cass is also obsessed with using pipe cleaners for her horses to be leads/ropes/ways to hold her dolls on.

Hi. We’re on our way to the city. I need to hit up Costco, TJ’s, and maybe the mall. While en route, I need to plot out somewhere yummy to eat.
It was supposed to be a rainy day, but so far it’s just partly cloudy. I’ll take it.

Hey. I’m just about done with work for the day. A new restaurant is having their grand opening today so I will stop and get a free salad or grain bowl on my way home from work. I don’t have anything else planned for the afternoon.

Hi! The sky's just opened up to rain and thunder over here. I've got chicken in the crockpot but I don't think it'll be ready to shred and be eaten by the times it's dinner so I'm planning on another pizza night.
Aldo, does anyone else make the grandiose plans for the night time (mostly house or pampering stuff) and the by the time 7:30 rolls around I'm in bed with Netflix?

Nothing exciting here. We ran some errands, bought a new refrigerator since our freezer still isn't as cold as it should be.
We got more bad news regarding the family loss, had to have a talk with Evie about house fires and what to do, but not scare her.
We were supposed to go to a surprise party tonight for one of my friends husband's, but I dont feel up to it. I already took some nighttime cold meds and am hoping to go to bed super early.

inthekitty klong11 C really wants to watch a horror movie. I know he will get scared so I’m looking for something not too scary. I saw Pete Semetary at his age and have been traumatized by gray cats since. Any recommendations that aren’t animated?

We met my cousin’s family at a splash pad. Their son is a year younger than C and idolizes him. Pre Covid we got together every couple of months but this was the first time in over a year. They had so much fun and it was great to see them together and not miss a beat.

weddingGremlins Goosebumps 1 & 2 Ghostbusters series Poltergeist series (I thought they would scare the crap out of them but I guess the old effects don't freak them out anymore and M wasn't the least bit scared) Dolls (this is a cheesy 80s one where people are in a storm and up at this old house in the middle of nowhere and they have porcelain dolls that come alive--it's delightfully cheesy as people are terrified when they are stabbed by tiny cute little dollhouse knives, currently on Comcast OnDemand) Critters (we haven't watched this yet, but I was going to check it out because I remember seeing it when I was a kid and it was fun scary, not scary scary) The People Under the Stairs (I was watching this one night when M snuck in and watched it with me, scared me a ton when I was a kid and M had no problem with it) Child's Play series (I let M, but not C who is more fearful and younger, watch the first 3. There's some bad language and she knows my rule that if she repeats it she can't watch it. There's definitely some gross deaths, particularly at the end of the 2nd and 3rd. I tried to fast forward through some of it, but she was totally fine and never scared.) The Blob Invasion of the Body Snatchers (they were bored with this until things really started to pick up towards the end) Twilight Zone movie Cheesy Lifetime movies with a supernatural angle. I also think they'd like the movie from the 90s of The House on Haunted Hill and House of Wax. Eerie, Indiana is a great kids X-Files-esque show on Prime. It's a lot like Are You Afraid of the Dark--I've found a few episodes on YouTube. A lot of the older ones are good for cheesy scares but not too scary or gory.

Hi hi - lazy day here, my dad and SM are coming over to measure our house tomorrow since we don't have a floor plan and then they will draw up potential addition plans..so I'm trying to get the house completely straightened, which is exhausting. My normal approach of throwing piles in a room won't work since they have to measure every room and closet😑.
Otherwise not much new here, works been pretty busy and kids had a better week at camp thank goodness.

mwhip I'm sorry for the loss, fires scare me so much. Hope Evie handles it okay. She was fine, but she doesn't know why we are talking about it. I think if we gave her more details, she would freak out and not sleep well, so we just told her something devastating had happened in the family and she needed to know what to do.

mwhip What happened? i get the general idea that it was a house fire. I dont know how to hide this, so if you don't want to read about child loss, please skip the rest of this. Trigger warning Wednesday morning there was a house fire. In the house at the time we H's cousins boyfriend, his 3 and 4 year old daughter, her 10 year old son and one of her teenage daughters. His cousin was at work and got the call that the house was on fire. Her teenage daughter made it out okay, her boyfriend and the 4 year old ended up in the burn unit at local hospitals. Her 10 year old and his 3 year old didn't make it. The boyfriend was released Friday. They made the decision today to take the 4 year old off life support. I cant imagine what Hs cousin is going through. I've reached out to her a few times, but I know she has so much going on. We sent some money to Hs aunt, the 10yr olds grandma, for her to get to his cousin since they will need things before insurance figures things out. Its just been such a sad situation. Definitely puts things into perspective.

mwhip how terrible. Fire has always terrified me because 3 of my classmates died in a dorm fire my freshmen year of college. I was a commuter so I was not there but it was awful. I knew 2 of the 3 kids that died. Then my senior year there was a fire in an off campus frat house. Thankfully, no one was injured in that fire but we could see it from the class I was in and I knew kids in my class who had been in the first fire who I was watching it with.

Oh, mwhip. I'm so sorry. One of my biggest nightmares. I'll be thinking about all of you. I often think about preparing the kids for a fire but I get overwhelmed.

It is a difficult conversation to have without scaring the shit out of them. Especially since our bedrooms are 2nd floor, so you have to tell you kid if they need to, to jump into the bushes below, if we can't get to her.

I forgot that I had planned a dinner with my BFF and the bridesmaids for her wedding at Olive Garden. We ate and chatted about the bachelorette party mostly. This isn’t happening until October but we need to have it all planned out now 🙄

Thats so scary and sad mwhip. I’m sorry. Do they know what caused the fire? Not yet. Fire investors said it could take up to a week. Its been difficult to get much information from family, they're all upset, understandably. Most of what we know is coming from Hs aunt, the 10yr olds grandma. The news reported the mom was in the hospital, which wasn't accurate, so its difficult to know what to believe from them.

C's window goes to the little first floor roof which is great, but I'm nervous telling him how to access it because my kids are nuts and I feel like next day I'd find them on the roof.

There was one that has already closed because they met their goal quickly. It's very kind of you to offer! I dont know if there will be a new one if the child taken off life support passes. The gofundme was another weird thing...it wasn't started by family since they were so distraught, but a neighbor who was also a priest, started it, without contacting family, so the 10yr olds dad said it wasn't a legit GFM. They then found out who started it and why, and all the money was sent directly to the funeral home.
