I feel like I haven't slept at all and my child is back to coming to my bed randomly in the night. She talks in her sleep and lately cries in her sleep, so of course it wakes me up.
Fun times!
What does everyone's day look like?

inthekitty are your girls taking english or western riding? I'm trying to decide if I wait to hear back from the one ranch or reach out to another. The other option is strictly english riding, whereas the one I'm waiting to hear back from has both options.

Add me to the exhausted list klong11. We had the loudest thunderstorm last night. I have no idea how the boys slept through it. Then for no good reason, I work up at 5:50 AM (my alarm doesn't go off in the summer till 6:50). So I'm not happy, and sitting inthe office cleaning up other peoples messes.

The other option is strictly english riding, whereas the one I'm waiting to hear back from has both options. I honestly have no clue. I'm going to go with western because we live in the PNW and that's how we do things. Hyah! I'd probably focus more on location/price/feel of the place (are they nice) than the type of riding. And thank you for the reminder. We've been on vacation mode (going back after a 4 day weekend today) and I completely forgot they have to help with lessons today. jewels I hear you on the annoyance of dealing with other people's messes. One guy on my team is chronically behind on his work because he is full on Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (they shouldn't have gotten rid of that from the DSM) and he meddles in other people's work because it isn't enough for him to obsess about his own. He has no boundaries and routinely works probably 20-40 hours unpaid OT on a regular basis but still wastes time to nose around in my cases. I had one already this morning in which he contacted some of the admin staff to get them to change a diagnosis on the paperwork of one of my cases. It didn't need to be changed and didn't concern him, but thank you dude, for giving me more work to take care of.

Add me to the bad sleep club. I get sleep, but not of good quality so it’s like I don’t sleep. Kids also end up in our bed and they sleep bad so my body never gets comfortable. inthekitty I loathe your coworkers and I don’t even know them. From everything you say about them and their quirks, I’m sorry you have to deal with that crap on a weekly basis. jewels Are you back in the office most days? chrisy01 I may have missed it, but did you ever have your meeting about the position you didn’t want? How did it go?

Morning. Dropped M2 off and got my workout in. I’m taking a page from jewels and having a Fun day with M. He doesn’t know yet, but I’m taking him to one of those entertainment places that has laser tag, kiddie carts, arcades, etc. They do a special pricing on Wednesday’s, so I’m taking advantage of that and spending time with him before we go back to work and camp.

lahdeedah, that sounds like so much fun. Have a good time! Lolz, thanks for the validation with my coworkers. There is one I like and we've both marveled at our very...interesting colleagues. There's not one of them I would go to for my own medical care. Yikes. Working from home makes it much more tolerable, but there's still annoying crap like the situation above. That guy is a piece of work. He drives me nuts. And my boss...don't get me started on my boss. So incompetent. He just emailed me about wanting something done ASAP because he apparently promised someone it would be done today. Well thank you very much for telling someone else it would be done but not including me in the conversation when you don't actually do any work and it will be me writing the report. This case is something like 13th in my queue so I didn't plan to touch it any time soon since it's not time-sensitive.

Just got an email from the dance school. They raised the grade that students had to be to do the nutcracker. It is now incoming 3rd grade. Cadence is going to be pissed. I emailed to ask if it was a typo and they said there has been a lot of interest so they raised the age. In her defense, she is technically the age of some incoming 3rd graders. Also, why the crap are they sending me the email if she technically isn't eligible? Apparently, since she is doing the intensive workshops with the company that holds the nutcracker she automatically got the email. They did say that some 2nd graders will get an invitation to join if they see fit. So they'll be watching her during the intensives.

I know I shouldn’t complain though because prices are much higher in other parts of the country.

Beforecare is 7-9, and the boys both sleep late, so I would basically need something from 8:30-9. In prior years they let me drop off at 8:45 so it was no biggie, but this year they are being a stickler about the hours. And yeah, Jersey's cost of living is no joke. we do the cheap camp, some of the pricey camps I looked into were like 8-9K for 8 weeks. For 1 kid. Insane.

That really is annoying about camp start times. Since I mostly work from home I can usually deal with a later drop off (so far I don't have my kids signed up for any camps because $$$, we might do one or two weeks just to give them something to do but I mostly just holler at them to go to the park), but it should be a no-brainer that most parents need to be at work by 0900 so drop-off should be before then. M is also a late sleeper so making it to an early camp would be a challenge for her.

The before and after care is such a racket! We signed up in Jan for one that said if you sign up early and for 6 weeks, then it's included. Otherwise $100 extra a week. J is in one this week that is 9-3, but is around the corner, so isn't a big deal. Also I'm glad it's shorter since it's so hot and it's a baseball camp outside.
Is anyone doing sleep away camp in the future? I'm wondering if I will be interested in a few years. I have a coworker that has her 9 year old for the first time, but it's like $2500 for 2 weeks😳.

The camps here are 9-3, so not even 8 hours. I have to find out what time I will need to be in for work, but I’m hoping we only have to do 1 or the other before or late care and not both. Even school here starts at 9. We are used to starting at 730, so that’s a big change. If mh can get his start time to 9am every day, then we may not need to do before care then and just after school.

When I was in 4th and 5th grade my school did Outdoor School. This was one school week each year in which we went to camp at a very nice campground about an hour away. It was so much fun and I had so many incredible memories. We got to do electives for different arts and crafts. Our music teacher came along and every night we got to sit at the amphitheater around the bonfire and sing camp songs. It was a blast. I went back as a counselor when I was in high school. Our teachers were saints. I wish schools still did stuff like this. They also bussed us to the pool in 3rd-5th grades for swim lessons.
I would love my kids to have those kind of memories. I think of the bougie kids on the Parent Trap and how cool their camp looked. I think 1 week would be enough but overnight camps are so expensive I'd probably wait middle school when I know they'd be old enough to handle it because I'm not paying $$$ to pick them up in the middle of the night halfway through.

MH took C and L camping this week. I worked today and had a meeting with a divorce financial planner. My mom is so sweet and told me she wanted me to go to one and she'd pay for it. I was overwhelmed thinking about it but LOVED her and feel so much better after our meeting!

We've just started practicing spending the night at each other's houses to get them ready for next summer. lol.

tgrimes , catching up and glad your mom is coming around and realizing they need to move. Me too. My sister talked to my dad again today and I think he realizes it needs to happen. I know it's overwhelming for them to think about having to change all of their doctors and sell the house, but my sister keeps telling them that all of us will help. Even 2 of my dad's 3 other kids. We don't like the 3rd one. Hahaha!

Hey. We went to a play this morning with MIL and then to Costco to shop and get my tire fixed. Apparently the thing punctured my tire too close to the side so instead I got a whole new tire, boo. We ended up being at Costco for 2 hours but the girls handled it well. Then this afternoon we went to a park to play. I’m on my period and I feel extra pms-y. You’d think my meds would help but I am so annoyed with the kids. It’s super nice out so I’m sitting outside in the quiet.
The camp H went to this year does 2 overnights when the kids are 8+. If she goes again next year she would be able to do that.

lahdeedah I didn’t post about it. It’s not the job for me. It’s more sustainment then project management. However less work for more pay. I passed on applying just not the right job for me right now.

I’m a day late for the camp talk but here for it. The aftercare C is at, which is also where he did pre-k, has a camp for school age kids. The hours are 7-6, which are their regular hours. It’s not a huge space and we wanted to try something different so he is doing two 2 week sessions (all we could get registering in Jan!!) at a camp 20 mins away. It is amazing and he loves it. They have a swim school come daily for lessons and then free swim in the afternoon, hiking, archery, rock walls and zip lines, so many sports. The regular camp hours are 9-4 so we signed up for before care figuring I would just leave work early. Due to COVID regs and staffing, they did away with AM care but open at 8:15. The PM care is from 4-5. Thank goodness my work is understanding since I come in late and leave early. Assuming they have aftercare next year, I’ll send him the whole summer. It’s about $125 more a week than the other camp so I’ll need to save.
There is a bougie YMCA camp that he could go to overnight as early as 9. It’s ridiculously expensive but my dad said he would “sponsor” him for a week or two so maybe in the future.

I Was just thinking about sleepaway camp the other day. My nephews started going around this age and I just can't fathom it. I don't think S is remotely ready. He has been asking to do a sleepover at his BFFs house and I think that might be first up.
But he has spent 1 night of his life away from either MH or I (and that was with my parents 3 years ago). Maybe once he's a bit bigger I'd consider it.
