I am officially old. On the 4th of July I was looking at sunflowers, and while walking down the hill, slipped on a patch of clover. Spiral fracture of my Fibula and broke off part of my Tibia; had immediate surgery and have a post op appt today. I feel ancient. Oh no! I hope you heal up quickly. My mom broke her leg in a very similar way when she was about our age. Looking at day lilies on a side hill. Flowers + hills are a dangerous combination.

Thanks everyone! Got a check up today and found out that I have 9 pins and a plate; so I'm basically a bionic woman.
I am getting a kneeling scooter and spray painting it neon purple with a glitter finish; going full glitzy grandma.

Make sure you also get a wicker basket to put on the front to carry snacks AND a bell or horn to make people get outta your way.

Peekaru Go, grandma, go! 😉 Your knee will be sore for a few days until it gets used to the scooter, especially since I assume you'll be wearing shorts or a skirt instead of trying to get pants over everything. I know it seems counterintuitive, but you actually want that skin to toughen up so no lotion on it.

Also, those scooters can tip over easily if you use it to stand up from a chair or the bed, so it's better if you can use something else to get up and get yourself steady before grabbing it.
Not that I know from experience or anything. 😝

I’m on a holiday/summer vacation schedule this month. We had a fabulous 4th (which happens to be a birthday for my kid), and now are up north in the WI world. It’s so soothing to be back here (and great for my NBA loving H). Mosquitos have made mincemeat out of us but I got some amazing whipped cheese strings and summer sausage along with the family memories. But seriously, what is the secret to the bug bites? We are wimpy in my family now.
Lake Superior is next for us. We usually hit some favorites in the town then do the scenic highway for agate hunting.

oreobitsy apply heat to the itchy bites. Heat denatures the protein in the mosquito saliva that causes itching. You can use a hot spoon but justake sure its not too hot before applying! Honey is also decent in a pinch bit obvs washes off if going in out of water.

We camped in southern MN over the 4th and it was so blessedly free of mosquitos. I think we all came home with maybe two bites a piece. Usually they make mincemeat of me.

oreobitsy - I have found that witch hazel works really well for me, especially if I apply it as soon as I discover the bite.

This was a shark tank product (I was obsessed with that show this winter and binged all the old seasons). I’ve been curious if this works. I got bit badly on our camping trip but for some reason (maybe all the allergy meds I take daily) the itching wasn’t too bad this time.

There were none in Southern WI either. Usually the fireworks there are me covered in clothes head to toe and under a blanket to avoid them.

I’ve never heard of this but I love any little gadget. I’m going to order one. I’m at the point where I’m kind of enjoying the feeling of relief when I scratch the bites.

The last couple nights we're reading an emotions book where my daughter tells me what the baby in the picture is feeling. The sad baby is sad because he misses daddy. The angry baby is mad when mommy goes to work. 😭😭

We had a storm roll through Friday night with some winds reported up to 95mph. I was still up, the power had gone out and heard the wind coming. H was in a different room and saw the neighbor’s tree fall. We gathered the boys and headed to the basement. We got very lucky with very little damage, when it could have been much worse, with very close tree falls. We still don’t have power, luckily, everyone across the street is on a different grid and we have a line running over for the fridge. My cell phone is finally picking up a signal again.
I really need to look into getting a generator, so if anyone has suggestions, please let me know.

I’m in a different state because my grandma passed away. I’m staying at my other grandparents’ house and they have a 8.5x11 print-out of my new work headshot up on their fridge.
😭😭😭 I’m having a lot of feelings. I just want to stay here and run away from being a grown-up.
