But this did make me laugh. I wonder if they'll blame it on the intern. 😂

Jonathan Turley is on the Hill again today 🙄
I think every time they trot that fool out, Maxine Waters should be granted 5 straight minutes to just tell him off

I'm not feeling very eloquent this morning and can't quite find a representative tweet, but I am saddened by all of the heat related death in Canada and the extreme heat in the PNW and climate change and how it feels like we're on a runaway train heading over the cliff.

Don't read Parable of the Sower while sitting in the midst of a 115 degree day that could well be your future because you will despair it. I mean, its a fantastic book and everyone should read it but my timing could have been better 😂

The Florida Keys are facing imminent, and very hard, decisions due to climate change. I think it's early days yet on what happened in Surfside, and I'm betting we're going to find it was a confluence of issues, rather than one smoking gun, that led to the disaster, including exposure to sea air and water. That said, all coastal areas are going to have to deal with environmental issues sooner rather than later IMO. I would not live on coastal property, and I always wanted to live with an ocean or Great Lake view. .... “The water is coming and we can’t stop it,” said Michelle Coldiron, mayor of Monroe county, which encompasses the Keys. “Some homes will have to be elevated, some will have to be bought out. It’s very difficult to have these conversations with homeowners, because this is where they live. It can get very emotional.” ... link

The combo of the climate change news recently and the Toyota news means that we're now looking to lease a 2022 Hyundai hybrid small SUV instead of buying. The Hyundai hybrid SUVs are so new we can't afford to buy and Toyota's the only one with old enough hybrid SUVs in our range.
I've never leased before but I think it'll be a good fit for us if we want to buy it at the end of the lease. And if not that specific one, there would at least be more hybrid options available at that time.

I've never leased before but I think it'll be a good fit for us if we want to buy it at the end of the lease. And if not that specific one, there would at least be more hybrid options available at that time. I’ve leased twice now and it’s precisely because of wanting to see greater options for either hybrid or EV 3 years later after not being satisfied with the selection. I was a never leaser before. Four years ago when I was car shopping I wanted an EV but couldn’t find one in my budget that met my needs so I leased an Accord Hybrid. It was great and I routinely got around 45 mpg but it wasn’t completely what I wanted. Last year I leased a Tesla model 3. Neither H or I wanted to fully commit to an EV just out of fear of change. We are very happy with it and would be hard pressed to not buy an EV in the future. I’m personally hoping there will be more options available next time we buy. H is currently in a Tesla forever phase. He loves that car so hard. Lol.

The San Francisco Bay Area is in a world of hurt with climate change and rising sea levels as well. Namely some of our key infrastructure- SFO and OAK airports will be underwater in the future if something isn’t done soon. There’s also a good amount of housing that might be at risk and I don’t know that developers are forced to reckon with that even with new developments.

I'm really bummed about the Toyota news. After this lease is up on my Highlander, I may consider giving it up and pursuing a Subaru as I have considered before. Unfortunately the Sienna is still the only minivan that has the non-negotiables for us (AWD and hybrid) so we will be going with that when it is in stock. I try to remind myself that Toyota is also made up of a lot of people who aren't at all related to who the corporate heads are. Makes me feel a little better about it. I don't know.
