The next two weeks will be insane at work. If L is good this week and a little bit of next week he will be able to skip a day of school and do something fun. We are all hoping he starts behaving.
Also I’m hoping to get my final done with her tonight or tomorrow in my economics class then I’m done with school until my real classes start on May 9th.

I don't think I checked in all weekend. We were so busy. I'm exhausted and slightly sunburnt. lfig I'm so sorry for your loss, and covid stealing quality time with him. I loved the pictures you put on Facebook of him with S. So sweet! |

Morning.
Boys are at school and I’m having my coffee while watching the morning shows. Going to workout in a bit. My mom will be leaving soon.
I never finished our taxes last week, so I want to do that today. I’m so glad I didn’t try to file early because the Latest stimulus package changed how much we get back. Before we had to pay back the discount we got on the insurance marketplace for the last two months of the year, but now we don’t. 🙌🏽

So in this week's newsletter from Cadence's teacher we are being asked to drive thru at the school W-F 9am-2pm and pick up a poetry packet. 1. that time obviously doesn't work for me, so hopefully mh can find a break during his day that coincides with a break in Cadence's online school schedule to go pick that up. Know what else is being handed out at that time? The textbooks for the year. This year. Her 1st grade math and science book is JUST NOW being giving to us. WTAF? I don't need that shit now, I needed it at the beginning of the school year to use through this year. WTF am I supposed to do with it now? I told mh to tell them he only wants the damn poetry packet. And honestly, they should just be emailing us the damn poetry packet and I'll print it out myself.

I got both boys to school and went to pick up a drinking game I bought off Facebook marketplace lol. It's a handmade wooden thing. Now I'm waiting at the dentist. Mallory fell asleep so I'm waiting until the last minute to go in. I want to get paperwork done today and some yard work.

Good morning. It’s a holiday in Boston, Patriots Day, so Dh is home. It’s a bit annoying but I’ll live. Work is slow since half the staff is off for school vacation.
We had football yesterday and found out after that the other team was basically cheating. I saw the coach on their side starting offensive plays before our team was ready but I didn’t know that a bunch of kids had moved their flags to the front so there was nothing to grab onto in the back. I had noticed that a few times our team would be grabbing their flag and it wouldn’t come loose. C actually got dragged a bit and ended up with a cleat to the eye and someone else’s really digging into his shin as other kids tried to grab on as well. Turns out the boys were also grabbing their own flag as they ran to hold it in place.
Our coach had a talk with their coach and the teenage referees that were hardly paying attention after the game. They still recorded our loss and even though it doesn’t matter too much at this age, it does bother me. I don’t like what it says about cheating. And kids on our team noted some of these tactics so it’s not like they don’t know the other team cheated. I don’t know if I’ll do anything. I might encourage our coach to let the organizer know. He should be aware so they at least keep a watchful eye on the team going forward.

wedding I'd definitely reach out to someone in charge of the league. I mean, they're kids...this isn't that important, except you're teaching them life lessons about being fair. That other coach is a dick.

My H quit his job. Im stressed. I know he will find something, he isnt the type to sit around.
I cover evie's health and dental insurance, but h had her under his vision so I've emailed my HR to see about adding the vision policy.
I also sent H a text and told him he needs to get his dog to the vet and the air conditioner serviced while he's not working. These are things I would have taken care of previously but now he can.

Morning. I had dd2 her well visit this morning. Poor thing had to get two shots, she’s has been a whiny mess the rest of the day 😕. I got a text from dds teacher if it was possible to pick her up, she had been crying for over half an hour that she was so tired, so I picked her up. She was fine... (not blaming the teacher, she was right to call me).
Currently sitting upstairs with a fussy half asleep baby, whist Dh is making pancakes for dinner.

peachsmama How was the bachelorette event? Did you learn any new tricks? 😆 It was totally different than ours! And the instructor was very sweet. It was fun. All day Saturday was the Bachelorette party. We did brunch, axe throwing, drinks, dinner and more drinks. I was vvvvvvery tipsy/drunk by the time I left. My sil drove me home lol |

I decided I was done complaining about my teeth and to do something about it. I got whitening trays made and will pick them up in a few weeks. I'm tired of feeling insecure about it.

wedding not cool at all. mwhip I'm sorry his job was so rough - I hope he finds something quickly. And definitely he should do those things around the house while he's off. Including taking E to school and picking her up!

So, I've noticed that S has picked up a bad trait from me and I'm not sure how to fix it.
Many things come easy, to both of us. But, if I'm not good at something, I never "learned" the skill of working at it. I usually just procrastinate and never deal with it. I've noticed that S is acting the same way. Math and Reading are super easy for him, and he's quickly progressed above grade level. Writing is not easy for him and he hates it. So for instance if the teacher says " Use these words to write 5 sentences of at least 5 words each", he will spend half his time trying to make sure the sentence is no MORE than 5 words, write 2 sentences and then tell me it's too hard.
It doesn't help that he no longer really has a teacher, so the assignments are far less creative.
This translates to sports too. He is doing Baseball. He loves it. He's AWFUL. Like easily the worst kid on the team. He refuses to practice, telling me he practices during the weekly team practice. Last night we had a few friends over for an BBQ. The boys are on his team, so I asked them to bring their gear. Everyone was happily throwing and catching and he was sulking in the corner. I don't know how to motivate him to try.
As a side note, MH and I are not athletic, which does not help.

It was because the flag wouldn't pull off, then the kids fell with C attached to the flag and kicked him in the eye as he went down. The other injury on his shin was from three other boys piling on. Flag football gets way more physical that I was expecting! |

jewels, does he want to play baseball? Or is he doing it because his friends are? I think the writing thing is normal. If you aren't good at something, you don't want to do it. It's human nature. I would keep an eye on it but I wouldn't do anything about it at this point, especially being virtual. With C and reading he had zero interest last year and he wasn't good at it. This year, the teacher has made all the difference.

jewels I agree with wedding regarding not pushing it too much with writing while it's virtual. M is 2 years older and mostly does the minimum with writing too, but when she's in the classroom she does a much better job. They're still young and have plenty of time to learn about putting forth their best effort and having pride in their work. As far as baseball, I'm also wondering if he likes it. I struggle with activities and sports for the girls. Obviously covid plays into that, but so many activities are sports-based and my kids have my athletic skills. It seems like the few alternatives are expensive, far away, and inconvenient times.

Not much going on here. I started watching Supernatural. It's like a cross between The Hardy Boys and X-Files-- so right up my alley. I'll finish Scrubs today so Community will be my new exercise show. I had never seen the last season of Scrubs--I wasn't missing out.

On the plus side she has a very low chance of ending up like my coworker and writing 23 page reports when 5 would suffice despite constantly being asked to be more concise. Brevity is a skill. |
