Morning! Spring break is over here and we are back to reality. Our trip was awesome. All 6 kids got along insanely well and the adults had a blast too.
I had little reception there so I read occasionally but wasn't able to post.

S is remote this week, and his teacher had her baby 2 months early over break so they are trying to piece together subs. I'm listening to it and they are trying... but obviously she didn't do lesson plans before unexpectedly having her baby so it's quite chaotic.

Break is over but today is an in service day for the teachers. M starts back tomorrow and J on Wednesday. I have my extra kids tomorrow so I'm trying to get all of our laundry done and stuff put away.

I don't know much more than that. I am hoping everything is ok with them. I love our school and our principal, and I know they are doing their best. But it still stinks for the kids.

Morning.
I’m at work this morning. I have a full day of patients, but so far it’s smooth sailing, so I’m not complaining.
I have some appointments to make when I get a chance now that our benefits are active. When I get off we have to make sure Mh has everything packed in the uhual so he can leave first thing in the morning. I was planning to cook, but now I don’t think I need that extra task with having to do that this evening. Guess it’s going to be a pizza night.

Morning! No easter Monday over there? We do over here, so everybody had another day off. I made the easiest blueberry rolls, they looked stunning and tasted delicious!
My grandma visited my parents and since she’s fully vaccinated, she feels comfortable enough to see me and the kids which was nice. She’s doing okay, sad a lot of the time, but also enjoying the freedom she gained after losing my granddad. He couldn’t be home alone, so she couldn’t really go anywhere.
Sushi tonight 🥳.

Happy Monday. Glad you had a good time jewels! To start off spring break we're ditching the kids and leaving to Portland today. I'm hoping for a nice walk and good lunch.

It's actually been much smoother today then I thought it would be. I think it's b/c they have the reading helper who has been in the classroom leading things. I think she is basically showing the sub how things go.

I spoke to H's speech therapist and she would like him to be evaluated by the palate team at Texas Children's Hospital. I messaged the ENT for a referral and am hoping he'll do the referral quickly. We also agreed to move H to the elementary school for his therapy in the fall. It will be more of a pain for me since I'll have to miss work for his sessions, but I need to do what's best for him.

We were given back an extra snow day today so we are still off. I thought they would announce we were going virtual this week because there were 85 new covid cases just in children this week in my city but nothing so far. We had a great Easter yesterday. Today started with my freaking fire alarm going off again. Fire department was back and now they think the wiring is the problem since we replaced all the smoke alarms last time this happened so we left a message with a few electricians. The boys are tired and I’m Hungover (thank you new White Claw flavors) but we may go to the park later this afternoon.

Good morning! MH and Josie are back to school, but Charlie is off off so we’re de- Easter-using the house and I’m trying to shift through his heavy sweaters and sweatshirts to bring out some lighter things. It’s a very slow process because I am totally exhausted from this weekend.

Have any of you had your kids see a developmental pediatrician?
I had B evaluated back when he was about 2.5 and he didn't qualify for services at that time. They said he was borderline. He's now seeing the therapist that was recommended by my pedi for PCIT therapy, but honestly, his issues aren't really behavioral, and I'm not seeing much of a difference. From the start, I've just thought he's less mature and I'm wondering if I made the wrong choice for who to see for him and if a developmental pedi would make more sense, in case there is a reason he's behind in maturity?
I am also trying to get him in with a pediatric gastro. He still struggles significantly with the potty and I think a lot of it is due to ongoing stomach issues he had in 2019.
Anyway, I'm interested in any experiences with a developmental pedi and if you'd recommend it?

jewels I don't have any experience with either, but it sounds like it wouldn't hurt to look into a developmental pediatrician for him.

jewels a developmental specialist (my field) pediatrician should be able to tell you more than a normal pedi. It can’t really hurt, even if it’s just to rule out things. If you can find one, IMH specialists are trained especially for kids 7 and under. We did the reverse with ds, I was 95% sure ds’ food issues where not due to anything physically, but we had a pediatrician rule that out. They referred ds to a developmental specialist, we never persued at that point, he was to young for CBT and he’s doing a lot better now.

Hey! It’s 89 degrees today, which is basically unheard of in early April here. The girls played in the sprinkler and I had to turn on the ac because it got too hot in the house. DH went to see his grandma this morning, for the first time since the pandemic started, because it’s her 96th birthday. He said her dementia had gotten really bad. I went out and bought a new tree to replace the one that the rabbits killed last year. Planting it wasn’t too bad, the old one came out pretty easily. H has soccer practice in an hour. The kids didn’t have school today, either. klong11 I hope your bro is doing better. jewels I don’t have any experience, but I think it would be helpful. Maybe post on the GD board, I’m sure you’ll get some good input there.

What a miserable day. I've basically vomited from 5am - 4pm. So horrible. I've made it over the hump though and I'm feeling ok.
My brother is back home, they pumped him full of fluids, steroids, and meds, plus gave him some rxs. He's also able to use his cpap to help him breath throughout the day at home. So things are looking better for him, just not sure how long he'll have it.

Sorry you were feeling so crappy today klong11. Im glad your brother got to go home and hope be feels better quickly. jewels I know you don't do much on FB, but is there a local moms group you could post annonomously on? Get some dr recommendations and see what others have done? Evie had her rheumatologist appointment today. I told the nurse that we can't continue the shots, that Friday nights are awful and traumatizing for everyone. She talked to evie about it and we came up with some other ideas to keep her mind off it, plus ordered the Buzzy Bee. She has an appointment 5/4 with a psychologist, but that is so far away when shots suck so bad.
