Hugs cnf. I know it’s hard but remember what life dealt you this month before you beat yourself up. You’ve had a lot going on - juggling 3 kids, little sleep and a job is no joke. Hang in there.

On a less whiny note, I'm starting April trying to be positive.
30 minute interval run with Jess King (5k) 20 minute yoga flow with Kristin 10 minute post stretch with Robin Foam rolling
My IT bands are tight, which is dumb given my low mileage this past month. I only hit 66.5 miles, which is like a good 15-25miles less than I normally run in a month. But I had a nice run this morning. Kept all my paces pretty low key and just cruised. I'm really sore from the strength the last few days, so the yoga was tough but good. Stretch and foam rolling was much needed.
Planning to stick to the same food plan as yesterday. So far so good.
We're picking up more foam floor tiles for the workout space tonight. And this weekend we're going to move the treadmill and elliptical so we can put those down and rearrange the layout so my peloton bike will fit when it comes sometime in the next week or so.

sakura , i joined that group last week, actually! i'm super intimidated by the idea of finding so much exercise time every day, but i'm going to give it a try. There is a solid handful of us here following if that helps at all!

March was eh. Not horrible. Not great. I'm ready for April and spring though. Getting Chicago on my calendar for fall has me ready to go! For April my goals are:
• follow through with my hip/IT band stuff (get an x-ray; do the daily ice and stretching regimen; get cortisone shot if needed • overall stretch session daily (my doctor was like, "Uh. Also your hamstrings are REALLY tight. You looking for an injury related to those next?") • increase my (running) mileage • at least a 10 minute strength session 5 times/ week
Also, post-Easter Sunday I'm planning on tightening up my diet for the month– no alcohol, no wheat flour, no white sugar, and limited added sweetener, generally. Lots of veggie grain bowls, salads and fresh fruit. It's springtime– I'm so excited to have fresh, local produce that isn't root veggies!

March was pretty good. I had a week or so where I just wasn’t feeling it but still managed to move. I think I only missed 1 or 2 days of core. I’ve managed to make daily core a priority this year and I’m still sticking with it and definitely feeling stronger.
For April I want to continue the HCOTF calendar but I’m likely going to rearrange days because of my work schedule and with hope that the Saturday 60 returns. I’m really focusing on strength this month and going to mix in some extra classes, possibly in place of some cardio.
MH has FINALLY agreed to let me program a month for him. The long and short is that he wants to run more but keeps getting some kind of injury and not listening to me. He just wants to go hard every workout (hello old and sometimes still me) and is all over the place. His intentions are excellent but it’s infuriating to watch. So that’s what I’m most excited for this month!

We found 20# and 30# dumbbells at Target the other day and it felt like winning the lottery. I keep telling my H that I really just want a small hotel gym in a corner somewhere -- maybe after tax time we can look into a compact spin bike or something. Yes! I noticed this morning that my target was rich with heavier weights! I also think people will probably start selling equipment off as they go back to the gym.

cnf I can’t wait for you to get your bike!! Saaaaame! I tried convincing H last night to call and inquire since we haven't gotten any delivery information yet but he was very "they'll get ahold of us" about it. Bro, we paid up front, we're 2k in the hole on a bike we don't have yet. Please call them!

March went well for me. I relaxed a bit with my schedule once all my races were postponed and enjoyed an easy month before my training picks up again.
I've been in Palm Springs and enjoying the pool all week- I've done some bodyweight strength and yoga on my own just to stretch out after lounging. I bought a Commit30 planner last week so yesterday I spent some time writing in the HCOTF calendar along with my planned runs and rides. It was way more fun to do this poolside with a cocktail than in my own house. 😆

I wish we had space for any equipment. As it is I have to rearrange the living room any time I want to work out. My yoga mats live with free hand weights in a cabinet in the dining room.

Also, I finally went ahead and registered for the Wineglass Marathon. I ran a full after both my girls were born, so just keeping it true to tradition here. I also need something to focus on and work towards. It's been almost 14 months since my last race and I'm dying for that race day high.

Oh man. I don't even know where to begin (and I don't know if this the right thread for such a missive--if not, I'm sorry in advance). I mentioned in my first ever post here that I gained 50 lbs since last March (and I was already obese, in the process of losing). As of this morning, I have not lost anything. I started SSRIs a year ago as well for long-standing issues, which my care provider thinks contributed to the incredibly rapid gain (of course, locking down and eating crap for months didn't help). My motivation to diet is GONE. And I can't get to where I want with workouts alone, though I enjoy them well enough (Peloton cycling and yoga). I know that change isn't possible unless it comes from within. But I have dieted and battled my weight since I was twelve years old, and I have lost varying amounts of weight and gained it all back every time. Now, the old tricks aren't working, probably due to age and health. I will own up to the fact that I am ambivalent in other areas of my life, which contributes to the "what is this effort even worth" feeling. But I am just stuck. Working out (cycling and yoga) has made me feel better and improved my mobility. But I don't like the person I see in the rare occasions I look in the mirror, which I know isn't particularly feminist or forward-thinking. But it is how I feel. Anyhow, if you've read this far, thanks! Goals: 10 lbs by May 1st (maybe posting here will help) To do this: At least three cycling and two yogas a week no desserts during the week sandwich at lunch okay yogurt and protein at breakfast no potatoes or bread at dinner big thing of crystal light/fizzy water + cheese + fruit after work (when I am ravenous) I’m sorry you’re struggling 💔 I would argue that the reason the old tricks aren’t working anymore is that diets don’t work in the long run - not that you’re doing something wrong or failed in some way.

I ended up getting on for Bradley's 9am ride. No bday shoutout but it was a solid playlist. I'm hesitant to form an opinion on him yet because I can tell he's got some nerves still which should improve with time.
30 min 2010's ride with Bradley 5 min cool down with Sam 5 min lower body stretch with Adrian
My March goals had to be totally reworked when my tread broke so I'm not going to beat myself up over that. I worked out every day except one and had a good reason that day so I'm still happy with how the month ended. Most importantly, I never felt like I was forcing myself to do anything I didn't want to do. (Other than sometimes halfway through a core class when I realized I still had to push through the next half.)
For April, I want to start to branch into some of the other types of rides besides the fun rides. And if the vibrating tread doesn't drive me completely crazy, try to get back to some longer runs on it. I'm still figuring out how I want to balance the bike, tread, yoga, and strength classes so I want to spend April trying to find a good rhythm.

You might consider focusing on what you will be having and why those choices are good for your health. And you can have carbs at dinner

You can have dessert every night if skipping it means you end up obsessing about it and bingeing later.

I am super struggling with letting go of the idea that I need to be a certain size to be healthy. I could certainly be healthier than I am now, but a lot of this is mental! It does help to think about the fact that I have a lot more energy after lunch when I eat a certain way (which is something I never had to worry about when I was younger!). Thanks for the feedback--I'm glad I took the plunge and posted!

My goal for March was to continue to up weights at the gym and I definitely did that. Feeling so strong! I also wanted to KOKO with nutrition and I've done that too, although I could be better about making my extra calories more quality ones instead of splurges. I could be eating a LOT more food daily if the extra calories I'm adding back in didn't all go to booze or dessert a couple nights a week, lol. Anyway I'm up 150 calories per day since the end of February and am down about 2-3 pounds.
I'd like to get more running miles in during April. Not for any fitness reason but just because I like it and it helps manage my mental health. At some point I'm going to find my maintenance calories when the scale starts to go up--its probably not going to be this month but I'm setting a goal not to freak out about that when it does happen.

Carbs are your friend! My biggest food mistake when I pack for work is packing a really awesome salad for dinner and forgetting a side carb. Worst.

newspapers welcome, and I'm excited for you to be a part of this group! Such amazing support here. You're right that a lot of it is mental, but not just in the ways that you think. Reframing the work that you're doing as a positive challenge makes this whole thing so much more sustainable. It is so important IMO to celebrate the things you can do well and build off that--find habits and ways of life that you enjoy. The restrictive thing is such a negative mindframe and I just don't think the human brain is meant to keep that going for too long.

10 min core with Jess 30 min lil Wayne run with Robin 20 min legs and glutes with Robin 20 min legs and glutes with Adrian 5 min lower body stretch with Ben
Great stack today. I loved running with Robin and can’t wait for her to come back! Solid leg work and I bumped up to 30s for the last few sets with Adrian and felt strong AF. I will also being feeling sore AF tomorrow.

March sucked for me. I had a really hard month and it was hard to get the motivation to either exercise or eat well. Especially with all the Easter candy in my house. April’s goals: Exercise 5 days a week, increase my water, and focus on cleaning up my eating. We are getting ready to do another IVF cycle, and I want to lose weight before retrieval and hopefully keep going after (we won’t be transferring right away). No specific pound goal this month, just hopefully a loss.
