So I guess alllllllllll the cereal in my cupboard including CTC is getting thrown out when I get home. Don’t be silly, check the bags first to see if they can become supporting evidence. PDQ, but also me poof

The Boulder shooting is giving me strong flashbacks to the El Paso Walmart shooting. That was really close to me, and I heard about it literally on my way out the door to pick up last-minute stuff from Walmart for my daughter's birthday. There weren't any other close stores, and there were already police officers on sight. Everything was fine at my Walmart, but damn.
I have had two true anxiety attacks in my life: the night Trump was elected, and walking out of Walmart that day, alive but totally freaked out and bawling.
Fuck this collective trauma. I have such a glancing experience with an active shooter situation and I'm wrecked about it - there are so many we have lost, or who have lost loved ones, or who lived to tell the tale but at what personal cost? Why are we still here?!
I know we're all barfing about shrimp tails right now but I had some feelings I needed to also barf out.

Hugs ktg. Columbine was my senior year of high school. This just makes me sick that things just keep getting worse.

ktg hugs For parallel reasons, I’m thankful the CTC stuff is trending and sprinkling a bit of something less overwhelming into my thoughts.

I did not see Topanga coming. 2021 is trying to keep up with 2020.

ktg it is all just so sad and infuriating that nothing changes. My aunt and uncle were at the Route 91 shooting in Vegas and my uncle got hit with shrapnel as they were running to hide. They both have such horrible lasting trauma. Like they are grateful to be alive but my aunt especially has such awful panic attacks at certain sounds and it makes me sad. They were there to celebrate her 50th birthday and she used to love going to concerts and they would go very often. She hasn't been able to go to one since. And she can't listen to certain songs or artists anymore because they played that night. It's just so sad at the ongoing trauma the survivors face after surviving such a horrific event. And yet nothing changes and it just keeps happening more and more.

It was a whole whirlwind when I saw “Topanga” top trending on Twitter and Washington Post in a snip explaining it. If it wasn’t so early, I would have gone to bed.

Some anchor on CNN is tearing into the representative from Nebraska over background check laws right now. She’s sort of inspiring.

We really needs to somehow start counting them in the story from a victim standpoint, because PTSD is real, ya'll. 10 died, 60 will face lifetime trauma. Something of that nature.

I'm feeling similar to iruntodrink about gun control. I feel very exhausted about all of it and have sort of felt like, in 2012 tiny little children were murdered in cold blood in their classroom and nothing happened. Why should I believe anyone is going to change now when it's mostly adults being murdered? I know, Congress looks a little different now. But I don't have much faith in the Democrats on this issue. Unless Biden does do an EO but it worries me to do it that way too because it will feed into the "Biden is going to take your guns!" narrative. I am not sure how much I care about that though because really just fuck all the guns.

Considering the majority of Americans support gun reform, I really need the Dem's to take the ball and run and scorch earth the NRA and GQP backers.

I’m probably being naive, but I think topics like expanding background checks (and closing looopholes) and measures to ensure better data reporting from states to the FBI/federal government are doable before Midterms. The precedents are already there and have popular support.
