Ale.xa Gra.ce was born 7/13 1:54pm. 36+6, 4 lb 11 oz, 18 inches after 14 hrs of labor and 3 hours of pushing.
My water broke 9pm Weds night and we were off to the hospital. I was given antibiotics and allowed to move around as I wanted. I was worried labor wouldn't start naturally but I had contractions within a half hr. The yoga ball was nice to have during contractions. By 4am I was 4cm and needed the epidural. I slept til 6, it was awsome. The contractions felt so much lighter. Nurse checked me at 9am I was 8cm. 15 min later I was 10cm. I was getting ready to push but then her heart rate fell and everyone was scrambling around. They were going to do an emergency c section but her heart rate came back up. They gave her an hour break and stopped my contractions. That was beyond scary.
Then as I was going to push again I developed a fever of 100.4 so I had chorio. The infection was due to PROM. Needed more antibiotics and they called the NICU.
Finally started pushing 10:45, they gave me pitocin and lowered the epidural to help. The pain really wasn't bad and it was physically easier than I imagined (although I was a hot, thirsty, sweaty mess). 3 hrs later she was born. The cord was wrapped around her neck and she wasn't crying. NICU worked on her, I got to hold her quickly, and she and MH went to the NICU. They discovered I also had a mild cord insertion.
Her blood tests came back negative for chorio. She had tachypnea, possibly due to zoloft, GD, or fluid in her lungs during delivery but was weaned off of respitory support today. She also took to bottle feeding well today. She may come home tomorrow or Monday!
