I was washing my hair this morning and felt something land on my shoulder. I freaked the freak out. I look down and she this black thing thing about 3 inches long. I was afraid it was a roach that had fallen from the ceiling or something but it looked like a slug. I screamed and brushed it off onto the shower floor.

We called one of the dumps my dad used to live at Slug City because his roommate slipped on a slug on the kitchen floor. So gross.

If you want to hear another horrible story about Slug City and his roomie I can share when it isn't so early in the morning. But I have to warn you it's a cross of Dateline and Shameless level fuckery.

Since I have been working from home for a year I am used to quiet. Having my painter here this week has been rough. She is my cleaning person and a jack of all trades. She's painted for me before but doing the walls in the double floor entry has been a challenge. She bought this ladder that she has been super excited about because it will open up other jobs for her. The problem is that she doesn't know how to use it and my house is the guinea pig. She just spent a half an hour messing with it and it is so so loud. Even when I am in the basement. Hopefully she is only here a half a day today since it is just a small section left.

I like the color better than what I had before but I do wish it was more gray. I also did a satin finish since our house is small and it will reflect more light. It does make the space look bigger but I'm not a fan of the shine. Basically I have regrets:(

100th day of school over here. That is all.

Oh and I was lugging cases of soda up to the office and my lungs said, nope time for an asthma attack. Guess how many people helped me bring everything up from my car.....yep, no one.
My lungs have calmed down and I'm sitting peacefully at the front desk now, but I've added some more names to my post-it note.

Some lady just walked in, her mask was apparently holding up her chin. And they proceeded to have a conversation about how happy they were they no longer had to wear masks.....I hate people.

I was going to ask how the painting was going wedding, hopefully the day is quick today and you feel better about it once you get it back together and give it some time. Show us some pics of before and after when its all done!

wedding I'm sorry it's not what you were expecting it to look like. I hope that with more time to adjust or different lighting or something it grows on you.

klong11 what asshats. I hope that this summer the schools open up some job listings for the fall that would work for you. Are you still looking elsewhere or did you table that for now?

Tales from Slug City

We affectionately referred to my dad's roommate as Uncle Bill. He was not the creepy uncle type, but actually a really nice guy--one of the few my dad ever associated with. Most of his friends were total sleezeballs. Uncle Bill was a HS friend of his, but also a severe alcoholic. As a kid I remembered him with a chronically broken leg. I asked my mom about it when I was older and she explained that his leg never healed because he had so much alcohol in his system his body couldn't heal. He was like Wolverine, but in reverse. He always had a leg brace on. He was dedicated to his alcohol intake.

As you can imagine, a Leaving Las Vegas style level of alcoholism takes a toll on your body. He was in bad health for years. He eventually died by nicking himself shaving and his blood was so thin from the alcohol he bled out. My mom has suspicions that my dad at the very least didn't provide aid, or helped his death along. It's also highly possible that in one of his drug-induced stupors that he was unaware that his friend was dying in the room next to him.

However, my dad was aware that Bill had died when he made the conscious decision to pull a Frank Gallagher and left his corpse rotting in the apartment for ~2 weeks while he waited for Bill's next SS check to come in so he could cash it.

I have a little to do list of calls I need to make and just some odd things I need to do today while it’s kind of slow.

I’m ready for lunch. I didn’t have anything to bring today and our cafeteria is not great so FX they have something decent today. If not I guess I can order jimmy johns.

I'm in the office today, trying to organize something that has been disorganized since before I started here. I thought it would be a 2-3 hour undertaking. I am 2 hours in and maybe 20% of the way done. I have to leave by 3 to p/u B so there is no way I will finish today. Oh well. I can't come back till next week so I'll have to finish it then.

also, random question for the boy moms - I am having trouble finding socks that fit nicely and don't shrink. What socks do you buy your boys? I keep buying socks 2 sizes too big for S, and after 2 washes, they go straight to B.

My go to are old navy, costco and oshkosh

these ones are thicker and good for colder months, he has them now and havent shrunk at all

What brands are you buying? I have bought M2 the cat and jack brand recently and I think they shrink a little, but not that much. M has adidas and Nike socks right now because I got them on sale probably a year or so ago.
