I woke up with a bad sore thoat so I'm home. I don't think it's anything other than drainage/sleeping with my mouth open, but called in out of precaution.
My dad FINALLY starts radiation and chemo today after many frustrating delays!

Good morning,
The cold is back. I saw it snowed in our former part of VA last night. Not delightful.
I lost track of time this morning and barely got B to the bus in time, poor kid was sprinting. I feel bad, I hated that flustered feeling as a kid and I think he takes after me in that regard.
C and I are going to go with my mom to help her shop for some new lampshades, lol. This afternoon B has tennis and our neighborhood is having a food truck rally so we're going to do that for dinner.

Morning! Pretty low key day over here. Just me and L since DHchad to go in to the office and A is at daycare. Working and school. L has to bring in his valentines stuff next week so everything can sit and the teacher can distribute. So guess we'll be making his box this weekend M has to make his box this weekend, too. Hoping that keeps him busy for a couple hours one day.

Morning! Our school isn't allowing the kids to exchange Valentines this weekend, so no box to be made. The PTO is paying for treats so they can still have parties. wineallthetime I hope you feel better quickly. And that your dad's treatments go quickly and he responds well!

We are doing Valentines exchanges but store-bought/pre-packaged things only and everything has to quarantine for a day at school before distribution.
C has to make a box, I should probably get on that.
I also signed up to make a big Valentine for B's teacher (the PTO puts them up around the school for all the staff) so I need to figure that out, as well. Her favorite flower is sunflowers so I'm wondering if I can do something with that. Hmm...

Morning.
SSDD. I need to hit up the grocery store after work today. Yesterday when I got home, M said there wasn’t anything in the pantry for snacks. There is a few things, just nothing he wants.

We also have to take the valentines in early. I'll take them shopping this weekend to grab some. I already sent in my party donations. I have work to do and I have to deposit payroll today. It's a crisp 19° with snow. So I'm in slippers, fleece lined leggings and a oversized sweater. I love not having to go in anywhere lol. I hope this part of COVID stays forever. Every business should have drive up options lol
MJ napped to early yesterday and then again at 6pm.. and slept until 4am. We were up until 6 watching Moana and snacking, since she slept through dinner. But then she slept until almost 8. Hoping I can keep her awake until 1 or 2 today and have a regular bed time. She's cutting all kinds of teeth and has drainage and congestion from it so sleep has been a nightmare.

Morning. I think N is punking me. She stayed home yesterday but never got sick and never complained after like 9am. Woke up fine this morning and even got ready to leave without me even asking. Then as we were about to pull into the school she started crying saying her stomach hurt. I calmed her down and told her to give it a try and if it didn’t get better they could call me. I wasn’t back home 5 minutes when the nurse called, so back I went to get her. Now she’s home, writing in her journal with hot “tea” and said she’s feeling better already.... hmmm. I’m thinking it’s anxiety related even though she says she really wants to go to school and dance today. The school admin told her she could come back today if she sees better so we’ll see if she wants to do that at lunch time.

H woke up with a fever so she’s home. I emailed the school secretary to let her know that she’s out with a fever and was told that it’s on their covid list so she either needs a negative test or doc note to go back before 10 days. So both girls are scheduled to see the doctor tomorrow morning. S is feeling better and is full of energy this morning.

I have not heard. Thing about Valentine’s Day. Isn’t it still a few weeks away? I doubt we will be exchanging cards but who knows. C wants to buy his girlfriend a rainbow crystal necklace. It’s $15 and he would pay for it but I hate the idea of kids buying each other presents. Idk. I guess if it were not COVID times and we were at the mall and he wanted to get her something little from Claire’s, I probably wouldn’t care.
Dh got his first vaccine yesterday since he works with the homeless. He just has a sore arm today and is a bit tired but that’s probably because he didn’t get home until 3am. Last night was the annual homeless census. Outreach workers throughout the city literally walk around and hand count the homeless and shelters give their intake numbers for that night and the total is used to calculate funding. It’s a truly ridiculous system but every large city does it because they don’t have a better way.

I'm at the office. M's computer wouldn't turn on last night. I asked her if she dropped it or anything and she said no. I had to send her without a device today but gave her teacher a heads up. She messaged me saying she spoke to the computer teacher and he's giving her a laptop to use for the rest of the year. Praise be.
Also, her new teacher sucks. The number of spelling and grammar mistakes I'm seeing is horrible. I get everyone makes a mistake now and then, but this is almost every damn post. I watched one of their lessons this week and is was pretty horrible. She can't keep control of the class, doesn't explain things well, gives incorrect examples...it's a hot mess. One of the other mom's spoke to me about it earlier this week. She sees all of the lessons and she emailed the Principal and vice principal about it. Another mom said she wanted to give the teacher more time to adjust. Another said after the test she gave today where she reread the instructions incorrectly so they'll all get that question wrong (district wide test) she's going to reach out to the principal as well.
This blows. We had an amazing teacher and just because our district refused to work with her, our class is getting the short end of the stick. They are also sanctioning our previous teacher.

tgrimes, that stinks. Was the change due to DL vs. in-person? I seem to remember you being in the same boat as me with classes being restructured if they go to in-person. lahdeedah having food around but nothing my kids will eat is the bane of my existence. Sometimes I hate shopping/meal planning and considering what they'll eat.

I'm so over work. I want a vacation in which I don't have to think about it for 2 weeks and I come back magically all caught up. We really need at least 1-2 more people but I don't see that happening anytime soon because that would require my boss to actually do some work.
SSDD here. *Sigh* I guess I'm in the January lulls. I think we need to do something different this weekend because I'm deeper into "every day is the same" than usual.

Just finished lunch and then I have 2 work meetings. After that I am taking my sister for her covid shot. She has lupus and a few other autoimmune things and serious allergies. She was trying to get an appointment at a hospital with no luck and got one at a mega site close to our favorite hospital. I am trained in using epi pens and really good at speeding to the ER thanks to DD’s early years so I told her just take the appointment and we will deal. She can start a side hustle as a vaccine appointment scheduler. She has been booking appointments for all the older relatives and all the old ladies on her block. My mom goes tomorrow and my dad on Saturday so I’m finally feeling like maybe we will someday get our lives back.

Sometimes I hate shopping/meal planning and considering what they'll eat. No, we got all that straightened out and the class stayed together with their teacher at that time. Over Christmas break, her teacher moved to Amarillo. She wanted to continue teaching virtually but they said no. The district is on a hiring freeze so they looked at their current administrative staff to see who was a certified teacher. There were only 2 options. The current situation is not delightful.

Madison just started reading Bridge to Terabithia. I'm prepared for the eventual tears although she's got a way to go. One of the saddest books ever. She's currently watching Return to Oz and hasn't been freaked out by any of it yet. That movie terrified me as a child.

I'm glad C is having fun. I was really hoping for snow the other day. In OR my family got several inches, but we didn't get any here. Just cold. It would definitely make things fun for the girls.

The other day C and L made a snow igloo with the little girl down the street for THREE hours! They wore masks and the other mom watched them from the window. It was the best for all involved.
