Yes! Her showing the other senator how to make a grilled cheese or grilled tuna sandwich over the summer was the best. Then this too, I love this and I love her (Mindy too!). She is so personable and radiates happiness. Also, I’ve never had any kind of Indian food. My mom is anti any kind of ethnic food, unless you count Olive Garden as Italian 😂 She’s super picky about food and doesn’t really use many seasonings outside of salt, pepper, garlic, and maybe Italian seasoning. XH was pretty much the same as far as what he was willing to try. DH is more of a foodie like me and both the boys like to try new things. My 14 yo DS wants to make or at least try some fufu and soup. He saw it on TikTok, so I told him maybe we could make it if we can’t find a place nearby to buy it and learn about the culture along with the food. I’m homeschooling them this year, so he said maybe once every couple of weeks or once a month, we could make a new food we’ve never tried before and learn about the country it comes from. I love that he’s a more adventurous eater. He’ll try just about anything! I haven’t either. H isn’t an adventurous eater and the kids are questionable - seemingly their willingness depends on their mood.

Indian food (which is incredibly varied, though most places in the US have relatively similar menus) is delicious. If you or someone you know is nervous, start with some mild palak paneer. We might need to get Indian this week. We are having chicken tikka masala for dinner on Wednesday, followed by ice cream for dessert. I would like to try more Indian food once we are able to dine out safely again. Most of my Indian food experience is buffets. We tend to stick with Vietnamese and Chinese food since that is what we know, but we need to branch out.

I just love Kamala so much. I've got mine and N's matching "Madam Vice President Kamala Harris" shirts ready to go for Wednesday. I'm keeping her home from daycare so she can watch with me.
Side note: N is also very excited to see her Princess Jill on TV. I'm pretty sure meeting her in September was the highlight of our year.

I would recommend chicken curry as a starter Indian dish. Also garlic naan is amazing.

It's seriously crazy how nice it'll be to just have...people in the WH. Flawed people, as we all are. But people who laugh and make jokes, who love their families, who are capable of feeling *joy*. Yes! Her showing the other senator how to make a grilled cheese or grilled tuna sandwich over the summer was the best. Then this too, She taught Mark Warner how to make tuna salad

I started backing her for president in my mind in mid 2017 and was on the Kamala train as soon as she announced she was running. Thrilled that she was the VP pick, thrilled that she shattered that ceiling, thrilled to see the good work she's going to do. I just love her.

Ugh....the Indian food talk *drool*. It's torture for me because we have nothing within a 50 mile radius. 90 if we are talking authentic.
I make a tikka masala but instead of chicken use northern beans and mushrooms. Naan is just bomb..
Can't go wrong with curry anything.
Damnit , now I'm hungry.

Ok my son wants to pin the butthole lips on trumps face instead for an inauguration party game. Since everything that comes out of his mouth is poop. 😂 I hope I’m raising my children right.

My family growing up never ate Indian food because my parents said they are just not fans of the spices. I ended up videotaping a culture show for my college's South Asian club and had my eyes opened to all the delicious indian foods, and now we make something Indian at least a few times a month. Chicken Tikka Masala or Butter chicken are both good starter Indian foods to try, especially if you're iffy on spice. also palak paneer, which is cubes of soft cheese in a sauce made of spinach. Samosas are yummy potato filled pastry pockets. If it wasn't covid times, I would suggest going to an Indian buffet because it's an easy way to try lots of things and see what you like, without having to commit to ordering a whole plate of something. iruntodrink, I'm intrigued by the bean and mushroom tikka masala! I made a recipe for squash and mushroom curry the other week and it was soooo good.

I think we may need to get Indian takeout for dinner Wednesday night. Curries are my favorite. Our regular order is saag paneer (spinach curry with cheese cubes), baghain bharta (eggplant curry) and chicken tika masala. We like our curries spicy, even the chicken tika and our local place knows our favorite order by heart. So yeah, that's how often we get Indian food.

All that sounds sooo delicious. I need some Indian food in my life stat!! And now I’m hungry. starbuck HilarityEnsued (or anyone else familiar with Georgia restaurants) anywhere in the Atlanta area that’s good? I have an endocrinologist appointment next Thursday in Buckhead and the following Tuesday is pre-op and surgery the next day (at Piedmont in Buckhead). I live about 15-20 minutes north of Buford/Mall of Georgia if you know of anywhere around here. And I love alllllll the spices!

My tiny town won’t have anything, but I’m only about 20 minutes or so from a lot more options. With the caveat that I'm a vegetarian, my go tos at most places: - kadai paneer - garlic naan - veg samosas - veg biryani And if anyone is ever in Asheville, you should go to Chai Pani. They focus on Indian street food. Thank you for the vegetarian list! I’m pretty sure this tumor is affecting my sense of smell and taste. It’s been gradual, but I went from smelling bad smells that weren’t there, barely smelling anything, and other weird things, and meat is one of the worst things right now (it’s called cacosmia, parosmia, and phantosmia, if you feel like googling lol). All of it smells bad when it cooks, so I quickly switched to vegetarian 😂

I haven’t either. H isn’t an adventurous eater and the kids are questionable - seemingly their willingness depends on their mood. Go to The Oven in the Old Market!! Parking down there about gives me hives; I hate it so much. I do drive past a curry place nearly every day, I just need to make time to order and stop by. Apparently it is very good and they have been super COVID conscious. There are so many different places on my “restaurants to try” list for girls nights out.

All the Buckhead talk is bringing me back...a couple decades. My HS BF went to Kennesaw and I would drive through the night for a long weekend of partying there and we would always do a night in Buckhead. 🤣 Since I've already aged myself, we would go to Have a Nice Day Cafe (or whatever it was called 🤣) and Bar.

If you or someone you know is nervous, start with some mild palak paneer. We might need to get Indian this week. I always suggest chicken times masala. Not spicy and just delicious and easy. Unless you’re lactose tolerant, then the creamy sauce might irritate your stomach. And garlic naan yummmm I think I’ll get us Indian for celebration dinner on Wednesday 👍🏼 Eta: shoulda RTMFT 🤦🏻♀️

I'm jumping in with more Indian food love. We don't have any places near us to get takeout this week but next week we will at our new house so we will have a delayed meal in her honor. We make a lot of Indian food at home, there are some pretty delicious instapot recipes. I can never remember the names of all the dishes I've tried over the years but I've loved everything I've tasted. When we go out we just end up ordering basically everything on the menu.

Also sort of behind Piedmont Hospital on Howell Mill is a food truck lot that has great options. Directly across the street from Piedmont Hispital is Yumbii which is insanely good. Oh hell yes. I want insanely good. I’m going to deserve it dammit. I’m going to stop at one after my endo appointment and then again on the way home from the hospital. Thank you (and starbuck) for the suggestions!!
