This is a combined TTC thread for EVERYONE currently TTC. Whether you're a first timer, a many timer, or an old timer come on in and pass the time as we struggle through WTO and the dreaded TWW.
As this is a combined thread there will be talk of LC, losses, and IF struggles. If any of these are hard for you please just let us know in your first post and I'm sure the lovely ladies on here will be happy to add TWs to accommodate.

Month/Cycle: 20, iui #3
Timing:
CD/DPO: cd 7
Symptoms: so many hot flashes. I hate clomid.
RRCS: trying to stay positive. My dr said we could do 4 iuis before moving on to something else, but we can't afford ivf so I don't know what else we could do. Hopefully #3 is lucky!
GTKY: Do you do new years resolutions? No, I would never be able to keep up with something for that long.

shellsncheese are they changing anything this cycle? I was on 100mg clomid so I get the hot flashes. They increased to 150 mg of clomid for our last iui and I had 3 mature follicles, so we continued that for this one. Our issue is low sperm count/morphology so I'm not sure what else would help.

Makes sense. With H, he started taking vitamin C - recommended by RE, and that increased his Sperm count. Although, his SA was considered “normal” - but since I had that one Fallopian tube, they were trying to increase my chances as much as possible. He’s been on a fat soluble one we got on amazon. He’s taking something like 2kmg of that still. Mostly for Covid related reasons now. But it did increase his sperm count.

RRCS: DH was on the fence the last 2 months from the loss trauma, but he's fully on board now - so hoping this is our month!
GTKY: Do you do new years resolutions? Nope. I have goals that are 5-10yrs out, but no yearly resolution type thing.

Month/Cycle: 1. I’ve stopped bc and my period is a monster. I have an annual appointment next month where I hope to put together a ttc game plan. Last time we needed metformin bc of pcos.
GTKY: Do you do new years resolutions? overall I do not do resolutions because I don’t stick w them. I am at the point in my life where if I have a goal, I need to put together a realistic plan to achieve it and that can start whenever I am willing to sit down and make the plan.

Month/Cycle: 12
Timing:I thought we did really well and I think I ovulated. Trying to wait a few more days before testing.
CD/DPO:42
RRCS: I think if we don't have luck this cycle I am going to request to start femara.
GTKY: Do you do new years resolutions? Not really, I have small goals and thing to focus on. One year it was taking better care of my skin, another year flossing etc. This year it's long term plans. I want to set up a will and get life insurance outside of our work policies.

Month/Cycle: 2 AL
CD/DPO: CD6
Symptoms: n/a
RRCS: I went to my doctor for Prescription refills and ended up doing AMH bloodwork and getting an antral follicle count ultrasound scheduled, which is on Thursday, just so I have a general idea what I am working with as far as should we do IVF again goes. I have an appointment with my OB later this month to talk about why I keep miscarrying and what we should do next.
GTKY: Do you do new years resolutions? I don’t really do resolutions, more like yearly goals, which always seem to be a work in progress.

shellsncheese has your doc mentioned trying injectible hormones instead of clomid? I switched to injectibles after 6 cycles with clomid and no success. I used Gonal F. I ended up doing 4 cycles with Gonal F, I did get pregnant with 1 cycle but had a very early miscarriage (like 4 weeks 4 days). Anyways, if you cannot move to IVF, maybe this might be an option?

Month/Cycle:
Timing: 12th cycle? Really I don't know.
CD/DPO: Well, I have finally moved on to IVF after almost a year of TTC using clomid, then gonal F. So my doctor has me on birth control until Jan 10. I go in Jan 15th for my baseline appointment and from there he will tell me when to take medicines, dosages, etc. I think the egg retrieval will likely be end of January. Purchased the donor sperm yesterday, and scheduled delivery of a SHITTON of medicine.
GTKY: Do you do new years resolutions? Not really. But I did set a goal to cook through an entire cookbook by the end of 2021. MW got me Ayesha Curry's 'Full Plate' cookbook. So I will be focusing my efforts on that in 2021.
Anyone else currently going through IVF? It's.....really overwhelming how much there is to juggle!!

I pulled out the papers she gave me at my first appointment. She showed the order of treatment they usually do, and it has "injectable gonadotropin with iui" as the next step before ivf, but I remember her telling me they usually skip that and go straight to ivf since it has a much higher success rate. But since I'm not wanting to do ivf right now maybe we should try that? I really don't know anything about injectables or what it does.

I asked about it recently and was told they are moving away from it unless you have diminished ovarian reserve. Reason is if you are growing follicles successfully on oral meds, injectables only increase your risk of multiples, not success. It is much harder to control the number of follicles and you are more likely for smaller follicles to “catch up” to the dominant one before IUI. She told me they wouldn’t even entertain the idea with me bc of my PCOS.

My fertility doc said that sometimes some women just never get pregnant with clomid and that they see some better success with the injectables since they are more “natural” (it’s a synthetic hormone I believe). I was started off in a very very small dose and monitored from there. My follicles did not really respond well to clomid so maybe that’s mother reason I was switched.

I did IVF in 2014, FETs in 2017 and 2019, then spent most of 2020 on oral meds and timed intercourses/IUI. I have noticed a definitely push of my clinic towards procedures that limit risk of multiples. I’m sure that is the primary reason for moving away from injectable IUIs. Because I do think there is a population of women who might benefit from them, it’s just riskier. And as a clinic, I think they chose to reduce higher order multiples among their patients. For example, they used to transfer 2 embryos without a thought. Now they seriously consider only one and have a discussion with the patients. They are more likely to cancel IUIs when your follicle counts get higher. For me, when I asked about injectable IUI (my lining was shit on oral meds) the doctor told me no. She did ask for my reasons against wanting another IVF, discussed mini IVF, pros/cons etc. But I could tell she wasn’t budging on her decision. She said it was a choice they made as a practice.

She did ask for my reasons against wanting another IVF, discussed mini IVF, pros/cons etc. But I could tell she wasn’t budging on her decision. She said it was a choice they made as a practice. That all makes perfect sense. Every cycle I used injectibles (I didn't do IUI, I did at-home insemination), we monitored carefully and my follicle count was never high enough to cancel, though it was always a part of the conversation. I also think my age played a part in being more aggressive, since I was 38 when we started, 39 now.
The thing I am thinking about now is - whether we want to transfer 1 or 2 embryos, when we get to that point. We have 1 DD (5), and this will be our last pregnancy, so we are contemplating transferring 2. I haven't spoken to the doc yet about if they will transfer 2, but I want to reconcile with myself what I want. I do understand the risks of transferring 2....but given my age and our original family planning goals...I kinda feel like.....go for it?
