cythe, I lived for almost 2 years straight in the Gilligan O'Malley nursing tanks and they held up very well. I wore them with Bamboobies breast pads (to hide the nipples) in place of nursing bras for the most part (though I do have a few Bravado nursing bras too). I liked the tanks more than the bras because then I could lift up my shirt to nurse LO without having to expose my belly. Tons of bravado nursing tanks and bras. In the beginning, I typically wear a bravado nursing tank and then a cardigan so the all the time nursing is super easy. FFC I never stopped wearing the bravado soft sports bra type bra. I have worn these since DS1 when I'm home. Pre kids I was a bra off right when I got home person. Now that's uncomfortable so I wear these daily. Wearing one now.

This is a good thread for me. When DS2 was 8 months I went through a 6 week stretch where I got reoccurring mastitis. It was awful and I seriously thought about not even starting the process with #3 because it was just the worst. Reading all of this stuff is making me excited instead of scared which is good.

I forgot about sleep bras. I still wear mine to bed every night even though we haven't nursed for a few months. They're like a little security blanket for my boobs.

Add me to the nursing tank club and yasss! To the target ones! I have 2 that I've been using even after DS was done nursing as my pjs! In fact I'm wearing one now. I had to get a large to contain my tatas so I've been able to use whilst pregnant. Lol! Since I've only 2 it gets washed every couple days and still going strong. This is what I wore at home nursing DS. I think I'll get a couple more. cythe , just so you're aware, your bewbs will likely get to pornstar gargantuan at some point when your milk comes in after bubs is born and will fluctuate over the course of if I recall for several weeks. I remember hubs was like laughing one day when he saw me letting it all hang out and it was seriously cartoonish huge! I was not amused. Re: bras, if you're "normal" sized you can get away with typical nursing bras. I made a mistake and had gotten bravados which comes in SML but alas the straps were too loose for my torso. I ended up having to go to a specialty maternity store and got fitted for expensive underwire nursing bras. I'm normally a 32D so needed an underwire support. I went up to a 34F and looks to almost be there soon. If you can maybe wait another month maybe to see if your bewbs would change although nursing bras seem to be stretchier to accommodate fluctuations like pp mentioned. Also don't fret if it doesn't grow much, doesn't mean you're producing less milk than bigger bewbs......actually consider yourself lucky! Mine was gargantuan and had trouble producing enough for DS, as a result he was a half and half fed infant.

I am dredging this thread up cos I noticed that the Spectra has a 2 yr warranty and it also comes with 2 flange sizes. Now I am possibly rethinking this really due to Spectra's 2 yr warranty vs. Medela's 1 yr warranty. I do have a question to those that have the Spectra or have just gotten it. Are you able to pump on one side like the Medela where there is a plug you can "shut off" the valve for one side?

duskymonkey, I have the pump at home. I'm 99% sure it allows for single pump with a little silicone cover on one of the openings, but I'll double check tonight.

I've heard good things about the Spectra both from my LC and my nurse case manager. Apparently it's even better than the medela symphony which is the one a lot of hospitals use. Apparently their technology gets a lot more milk out than any of the medela brands. So I'm definitely trying that one this time around.

duskymonkey, yes you can pump one side at a time with the Spectra. My LC demo'd it for me.

I had the Medela PISA last time which comes with a bag/tote. I'm planning on getting the Spectra this time which doesn't come with anything to carry it with. Does anyone have a bag/tote recommendation for it? I haven't purchased it yet so unsure of size of bag needed.

I don't have a recommendation since I haven't bought a tote myself, but I did find this hard-case on Amazon specifically made for the pump for $29.99: Spectra Case
If you're looking to buy any old tote, then it shouldn't be hard. It's not a huge unit, so depending on how many accessories you want to carry with it, the bag wouldn't have to be huge.

Every time this thread got a new post I was reminded of my procrastination on ordering my pump. Finally ordered it now. My only option was the Medela PISA starter kit, but I already have 2 of them so why not get a third one... lol.

With DS I had the Spectra S2. Great pump, only pain about it was I couldn't pick up spare parts in store. Everything had to be ordered through the company or Amazon. Not a big deal if I thought ahead but if I forgot a piece, I was screwed. I did order the same pump for this round (so I wasn't separating breast pump pieces) and also ordered spare parts to last me a year. I did discover that this pump works with Avent bottle and a few medela pieces as well.

Thanks ladies! Y'll convinced me + 2 yr warranty and 2 flange sizes, Spectra it will be. If I end up working on site or officially taking on a position in an office I'll be using my Medela which I have a battery pack in case I need to pump in the car commuting or something.
