Anyone interested in doing an alcohol free or just less alcohol January? I usually do at least a couple weeks every January. I'm planning on starting on 1/2 and shooting for the whole month.

Yes! My annual tradition is to start 1/2 and I don’t know that I’ve ever made it past 1/20. But I will try again!

I’m interested! With considering weight loss surgery, I know I will be asked to clean up my diet beforehand, so this will help tremendously.

MH is now into making craft cocktails of course, but I’ve been thinking about doing this!

I would say I am in but I don’t drink anyway so it would be kind of cheating. But I support anyone who wants to do it!

I’m here! In the past I’ve given up alcohol for months at a time. I wasn’t drinking at the start of the pandemic but I started this summer and the holidays ramped up the situation and now I’ve had some hangovers and feel like crap if I drink. My body needs a cool down from cookies, booze, and butter. My birthday is in January. I’m trying to decide what parameters I want to set but I am absolutely due for a break.

I discovered a few months ago that alcohol mixes very poorly with one of my meds and gives me horrible anxiety attacks when I drink anything at all. But I'm here to support!

🙋🏻♀️
I technically already started as of yesterday, but I plan to stay dry for the entire month of January.

In!! I definitely need to chill out on the wine consumption. I won’t go full dry but I’m thinking maybe no alcohol Sunday-Wednesday for sure.

I will be. I have a meet later in the month and it kills my performance. And it's gotten too loosey goosey anyway the last few weeks.

I’d like to pop in here! I don’t really count as a dry January though. I gave up alcohol in April planning on doing a dry month or two, that turned into wanting to do a dry year, and now I’m so happy being alcohol free that I think it’s more permanent!
So I’m here! But I’ve been alcohol free since April 😊

I am interested! I have never done it before, but I never felt the need in previous years. My drinking habits have swung all over the place during the pandemic. At the beginning I started drinking more because life was turned upside down so quickly. I realized after a few months truly how much more it was and dialed it back. Now, with the holidays it’s increased again and it’s making me feel really unhealthy, especially combined with eating so badly.

Can I do a dry January with the exception of our anniversary? (1/10)

I just told H the other day that at minimum, I need to eliminate cocktails in January. We've been having so much fun making seasonal cocktails but all that high calorie liquor and sugar is not great. I don't think I can handle a dry January, but if I limit myself to just wine/beer (which doesn't excite me as much), and only drink on weekends, I'm hoping that will lead to less drinking overall.

It won’t be totally dry I’m sure, but I plan on doing a DietBet and an exercise challenge in January so I will be cutting down significantly

I should really do this. Mainly my wallet will thank me. Probably my waistline, too.
