they aren’t doing the glucose test for me because of “scheduling issues” and “no openings” so how hard would you fight for it just in case? H is my advocate because i struggle with speaking up for myself. he’s calling my pcm to see if they can do the glucose screening. idk how important it is to push for it though. maybe wait until i get to SC and hope they schedule it? I would keep pushing. There must be a lab that can accommodate you, although I know you’re on a literal island. When do you go to SC?

speaking of pregnancy. how normal is extreme fatigue? when does it get cause for concern? never? this pregnancy is worlds different than my others. i am fucking miserable and feel like i just ran a marathon after using the restroom. i feel like i can’t move my body. I only have that kind of fatigue in first tri but everyone is different. I would bring it up - you may need iron or something else.

I have Covid I’ve been feeling like shit for about 3 weeks and went to get tested Sunday. I feel like a fucking failure. I followed all the rules, and did everything I could. I’m scared because I have asthma, and my breathing has been very ragged and labored. Idk how this will affect the baby. I’ve had a few days where my body couldn’t warm up for hours. I was shivering with my teeth chattering. My kids are asymptomatic, so I’m grateful for that Thinking of you. I also have asthma and am terrified of getting COVID, especially since I’ve had to use my emergency inhaler a lot more the further I get into my pregnancy. It’s not your fault. This illness is so, so prevalent and hard to contain.

Nonniedee please be gentle with yourself. The thing about this virus is that you can literally do everything “right” and still get it from one fluke interaction even wearing a mask and doing everything you should have been. All it takes is being near one super spreader that you don’t know about and boom! Yes masks are effective but not foolproof. Has anyone else in your household been tested? How far along are you now? It’s so scary but keep your faith and if you can’t advocate for yourself, make sure your DH is. Or ask your DD whose a firecracker 😂. And don’t feel badly if you can’t. I fight like hell for my patients to be their advocate but when it comes to my own health I struggle to stand up to the drs when I disagree with them. Keeping y’all in my thoughts. 💜

I haven’t had any fever this whole time. I’m 12 weeks, and all things considered this pregnancy has been normal thus far

@zweber - if your doctor is able to provide a glucose meter in the mean time ask for that. Unless you have one already. Ask them if that’s a compromise. I know people do at home tests and test with a meter. They’ll drink 2 sodas and test every hour. But checking your glucose fasting and after meals should give them a rough idea where you are at.

I’ll be 27 weeks this Wednesday. I’m just struggling with medical triggers that have been giving me anxiety. It’s a mess in Los Ángeles and I feel quite hopeless. I’m on anti-anxiety meds but I still need to breath through so much of the chaos in my head still.
Also I feel like my appetite isn’t really there. I have moments where I crave things but more often than not I find myself struggling with wanting to eat. I’ve been drinking protein drinks to make up for what I’m not eating. OB and MFM don’t seem too concerned because I’m gaining weight, but it’s on the lower end. I don’t know. I feel like I’m hitting walls with that.

@zweber Bedrest did that to me. After laying in bed all day for weeks, it took me awhile to be able to do normal tasks without getting exhausted. Maybe a factor for you?

miawallace I’m sorry for the worry. We aren’t doing much better hospital wise down here, and I get it.

miawallace Sorry for the added anxiety. It’s not easy. I do hope by the time you’re closer to delivery things will be better. LA is a goddamn mess right now. It’s blowing my mind how bad Cali got after having done so well in the beg.

Iron and magnesium supplements barely helped. I was so exhausted and in constant pain for the majority of that last pregnancy

Somehow I missed this thread in the beginning, better late than never? I’m 30weeks with a girl, I have a DS 6 at home, and this is my 5th pregnancy overall. I’ve been doing great & just like last time I have hypertension and gestational diabetes. I just learned of the GD yesterday. To any of you with it, what’s your suggested carb load/serving per meal? I ordered my testing supplies off Amazon and am supposed to meet with a dietician, but that appointment hasn’t been scheduled yet, it’s been too long for me to remember the suggested carb count.

Mine was 2 carb servings for breakfast, 2-3 for lunch and dinner, 1-2 for snacks. 1 carb=15g carbohydrates. My doctor wrote 15-20, but I had to stick to 15, and also had to stick to 2 carb servings at lunch and dinner to keep my numbers good.

Nonniedee I hope you’re still feeling okay-ish and the symptoms don’t worsen. What are your all’s opinions on getting the vaccine during pregnancy? My OB said it was fine with her & everything ACOG has sent down the pipeline suggests that it’s safe, obviously there’s still a lot of unknown. I have the chance to get it (healthcare worker) in 2weeks, I was supposed to get it yesterday but I had the 3rd tri tdap last week & there needs to be 2weeks between vaccines. I’m still undecided.

I just got my first dose of the Moderna covid vaccine, and I am 11 weeks tomorrow. ETA: ignore this second part, I hadn't read your whole post, it's irrelevant lol. I already got my flu shot for this year, but will get another Tdap in third tri.

Also, I put this in the covid thread, but my institution is partnering with a study for pregnant and breastfeeding women who get the vaccine. I plan to enter, in fact I am going to look into it right now.

Fack. In the hospital for bleeding at 25+3. I have a 4 cm placental abruption so they're monitoring very closely. No idea on the long-term plan yet, it seems to be more of a wait and see game right now.
