That's what pulled down HealthSouth - nonexistent assets were reported on balance sheets all the way down to local assessors. It was a 2.8bn tax scheme and a few executives went to jail for it.

CNN is reporting that McConnell is encouraging the GOP to NOT challenge the results on January 6 He’s a bastard, but I don’t think he wants to be remembered as the guy who orchestrated the demolition of our democracy. Just the guy who let Donald Trump ding it up a bit so he could get his way 🙄

My god, I feel better because of Mitch. The world is ending

Once Covid is under control I want to have a big freaking inauguration party I was just thinking about watching all the Saturday election results celebrations. I want to feel that joy and celebratory spirit again. Do we know if there was ever any spike related to those gatherings? I haven't seen anything but I clearly remember reading an article this summer saying that there was no increase in infections related to the racial justice protests in June. So I imagine probably not. I can only speak for here but I did not see anyone not wearing a mask. Even a lot of people in their cars with the windows down (like me) had masks on. And that was a lot of people bc it was about 80 degrees.

That was really interesting. I didn’t realize they were so popular all over. I don’t know why anyone would want to drive one of those big honking things unless it was a functional choice. What’s the point of you never use it to tow or haul crap around? So, so many huge pick up trucks sitting all day in office building parking lots near me. It looks ridiculous. I do not understand the truck culture here at all. I live in truckville, so many trucks but if you can't park it, within the stall lines, you have no business driving it.
Also 4WD does not equal 4WStop. So many trucks in the barrow pit when it gets icy.
If you need a step ladder in addition to the running board to actually get in the truck you dont need it.
I have lots of truck feels, including you really shouldnt be compensating shortcomings with your vehicle.

I am currently on a crusade about the size of pickup trucks and how dangerous they are. I am gonna call him. “Hello mayor secretary Pete. I need you to bring back little trucks.” Ffc: we own that exact monstrous truck in the photo, right down to the color. And it is often loaded up with bales of hay, animal feed, etc. So they do have a purpose. 🤷♀️ Eta as for the people who drive these things just for the hell of it, that I don't understand. It's like driving a mini school bus, although the multiple cameras do help.

My late H had a huge Toyota Tundra but he was a solo contractor and hauled his construction trailer behind it frequently. I agree that if your livelihood is not dependent on a pickup truck, it is silly to have.
I will say I love my Toyota Highlander because I'm tall and I like the space (plus you know, 3 children under the age of 5) but don't love it for environmental purposes. That being said, I can't imagine going back to a sedan at this point because living here has made me appreciate AWD so much. I know there are sedans with AWD but I do admittedly feel safer in my SUV given the majority of SUVs and trucks around me.

It’s complex, but these cars are just so dangerous for everyone else on the road. People driving them purely for ego are putting other people and the environment at risk. The other argument is that these massive trucks are just not prevalent elsewhere in the world and people manage to haul things fine. I know regulation can be a sore subject, but I really think the government is going to have to step in at some point because people will (understandably) be too nervous to own a smaller car purely because everyone else has a huge one. It’s a vicious cycle, but the blame isn’t really on the individual purchaser- just a larger culture that has gone unchecked.

But also if it helps, it’s not necessarily about SUV vs Sedan- MH has an AWD SUV (CR-V) that sits on a car frame, which is much safer than one that sits on a truck frame (like the Pilot).

I teared up a ton during the DNC so I can definitely imagine a virtual inauguration still being an effective emotional experience. I would love to see something done later to honor our historic VP Harris. I think it’ll be better, tbh. The DNC and election night were done so well and they tailored it to us at home. I’m pretty excited to see what they do!

And if I have to park it, I go to the back 40 of the lot where I can do a pull through because it's like parking a tank. 🤣 And I hound him weekly on the gas mileage.

I once drove a huge SUV for a camping trip as we rented a car for some extra packing space (we have very little cars) and then they didn't have any midsized SUVs left by the time I got there. I pulled it up to our house to load it up and my neighbor was out front and asked if we got a new car. I was like "SIR I'M SO SCARED." He legit laughed at me.

I drove a small pickup for some time in college (dodge Dakota). But you know, I lived on a farm, had horses, and was studying animal science.
Now I have a small SUV with over 300 hp because I like to drive fast.

The blind spots are a huge issue when it comes to kids. The statistics are very very alarming. Clearly we’ve found a niche that I just cannot shut up about, lol.

It seems like some of the environmental names are rolling out.
Gina McCarthy for EPA Jennifer Granholm for Energy
Hopefully Haaland for Interior is coming soon.
ETA: Whoops, McCarthy for domestic climate czar - she was formerly of EPA.
