So I was going to take the kiddos to one of those drive thru Christmas light displays. I’m glad I looked at the website before announcing it to them .... 2hr+ wait times! No thank you 😑 Yup, wish mine had a wait time listed. We went 2 years ago and just drove right in. Today, once we were in line, there was no way out. We left home at 4:30, arrive at 5:14, and finished at 8:47. Had 4 kids and the dog since we were heading to the beach from there. There was no food at the beach and I was getting nervous we wouldn’t find dinner because not a lot is open here right now. Thankfully, the pizza place was open until 10. Last night my 13 year old got out of bed to say he saw the FDA gave the green light on the vaccine so could I take him to get it in the morning. Safe to say he is OVER covid. Me, too, kid. Me, too. And oh hell no to a 3 hour line for lights that you couldn’t get out of. 😳 Glad you got dinner!

Finally finished a painting project I've been putting off for a long time. One last Christmas gift done. What did you paint? A bowl. Over the years I've made personalized bowls for my family. My delightful nephew broke his last year so I finally got around to replacing it. I'll drop it off to be fired today.

Morning. Number are rocketing again, we saw a dip and than a plateau these last weeks, but not anymore. Our government is meeting today and are probably announcing new restrictions by Tuesday. The way things are looking now I wouldn’t be surprised by a stay at home order, potentially school closing, all non essential shops, cinema’s, theatres, zoos etc. closing and no guests for Christmas. Most of these are fine, I mean something gotta give. I’d feel sad for the kids if schools close & I would really hate it if my parents weren’t allowed to have the kids over anymore...

Negative to wrapping. When I was a kid stockings were always fair game to dig into before my mom woke up. So when I was up at 5 I at least had something to tide me over. We also normally just got candy though and not too many trinkets in our stockings. Every year I look forward to how everyone runs the holidays in their houses and what it was like for them growing up. Stockings are dead last in our house. Stockings are last here too. Kids aren't allowed to even go downstairs until we all go together (after me or MH turn the tree lights on and make coffee). We like a big "wow" moment haha

As a kid we got 1 gift and the stocking from Santa. The gift was not wrapped, but the stuff the the stocking was. We were allowed to open our stocking and Santa gift before my parents got up.
Cadence gets one gift from Santa and her stocking, but everything is wrapped and nothing gets opened before we get up.

I'm in bed surrounded by cats. Cadence is in the living room with what sounds like legos. Not much on the agenda for the day. Cadence has a girlscouts zoom after lunch. She's learning the dance of the bon bons from the nutcracker with Ballet Austin. Or some simulation of it that can be learned in an hour. Then I think she and mh are going to FIL's. Maybe I'll get some presents wrapped then.

We scheduled a tour of an alpaca farm in a little while. I was feeling bad we didn’t do much for C’s birthday but I think he will love this.

I finished wrapping all the kids christmas gifts yesterday. No bows yet because of where I have to stash them all. I'll put bows on christmas eve. What are y'all doing for stocking stuffers? I got C a kaleidoscope, a fidget toy, and a small Petey from Dogman plush. He will also get candy.

Stocking stuffers are usually socks, slippers, an ornament (the 2020 stink stank stunk one for both boys), candy, and a few small trinkets like water squirters, a baseball bat weight for Col and Chase's first action figure (a Batman). They usually open stockings last, which is what we did when I was a kid.
I was going to do salt dough ornaments with the boys but we have a storm coming this week that may leave Chase stuck at home, so maybe we should save it. Can I make them now and store them for a few days before decorating? I assume so but I haven't done them in years.

I've been playing Christmas sons on the piano all morning. M is ignoring me and the boys are doing pick up orders at a few stores. I'll be picking up the little green guy cake this afternoon and then my in laws will be coming over for dinner. MH is smoking some ribs & a brisket or something.

20 treat bags for L’s class done. I just need to do the finishing touches on the teacher gifts. I’m going to make Lefse during E’s nap time and L will be writing thank yous. I’m also trying to finish laundry. I also need to start on my homework. My new teacher said each week will have between 15-20 hours of work.

It's just from one of those ready made pottery painting studios. I buy the piece, paint it at home, and return to be fired in their kiln since you can't paint there with Rona. About half of our plates are ones I've made because I make a new one for MH every year. The past several years I've used the kids' footprints and handprints when they were little, and now fingerprints to make something out of it.

We told my sis and BiL our name choices when I was pregnant with Madison (I know, rookie mistake). Then they found a stray dog and named her Madeline (nn Maddie) who they then ditched it with my mom. 😒😒😒 They went on and on about how awful our boy name choice was (Augustus), then about 2 years later had a boy. They wouldn't tell anyone what they named him for 3 days. I finally lost interest and wasn't playing into the BS of caring anymore because it was ridiculous. Finally it was announced, named him August. 🤨 I was pissed at the time but now I just eye roll at my sister's pathology.

Hey. Yesterday we did nothing but hang at home. Today I worked this morning and apparently V was pissed and did a bottle strike. Not sure what her problem was but dh wasn’t able to get her to take a bottle until just before I got off work. Now I’m going to take a nap and then we are going to the ILs for supper to celebrate FIL’s birthday.
For stockings I got the big girls the same things so far: bath bomb and Lego bracelet. I have a bath book for V. I need to get a few more things, I can’t believe it’s less than 2 weeks till Christmas. Time is flying. I did get my Christmas cards so I will get them addressed and out soon.

Our town did a little Santa Claus drive-through today. We didn’t tell the kids so they were extra excited to see him! We stopped at the Italian bakery afterwards and got some rainbow cookies because I haven’t made them yet this year. I’m pooped, and looking forward to getting into bed. I started bingeing Cobra Kai last night and I love it!!

We met Cs best friend from aftercare at the playground. The fools spun around on a merry go round thing so much they got stomach aches. C threw up all over the car on the way home. That was fun. After everything by was cleaned I went to Target for a pickup order. Now I’m in their parking lot taking a break before going home. Here they are, along with his friends sister, after they got off the spin thing that you can see a bit of on the right.
