Good morning ladies!
It is freezing today. I did a Target pick up order for a few things and other than that I will be inside for the remainder of the day till I have to p/u the kids. What's on everyone's agenda today?

Hi I’m here! I think I missed all of last week.... its really crazy at work w all sort of EOY items and tasking. 😣
Had an incident w our elf this wknd when B decided to PURPOSEFULLY shake the picture frame that she was sitting on, causing her to fall. I told the kiddos the elf has gone back to the North Pole and maybe better behavior and lots of Xmas cheer will help her heal.

At the office early. I'll leave in about an hour to pick up the grocery order, then come back.
Cadence was up and logging in as I left, so hopefully she actually did it today.

My goal is to get some wrapping done today. Yesterday I was pretty productive and want to start with that energy and end with lazily knitting.

Parent update: My half sister & niece drove down from Idaho and are at my parents' house. She was just going to stay for a week but after seeing my parents she decided to have my niece fly back and she'll stay an extra week. She thinks we're past the point of them just moving closer to one of us and they need assisted living. She's going to discuss it with them later this week. In the meantime, I need to get with their attorney & financial advisor, get a list of all their bills and get a list of all of their accounts. I know my sister and I are signers on all of them, but I need account info.
Augh. This sucks.

Just finished stamping and sealing all my Christmas cards, I'll drop them off as I get J in a bit. Who by the way has decided he only goes by Jackson. If you call him Jack, prepare to be yelled at... I have tons of work to do today and need to take a bunch of stuff to the basement.

Morning. The kids had the day of from school, the teachers had a planning day. Timing couldn’t have been better after this crazy busy weekend. It was nice to just have an easy going pyjama day. My dad’s retiring in 10 days, so my sisters and put together a gift basket with a gift for each of the 10 days, just silly things (a puzzle to keep him busy, silly socks, his favorite booze). I just dropped it off, he really liked it  . I need to figure out dinner for tonight... we’re ordering in a lot 🙄. |

tgrimes I'm glad your half sister can stay for awhile, hopefully she can help convince them a move is necessary. Can your mom not handle the finances or are you just being precautionary and want to see where they are at and what they can afford? And WTF to you H leaving the house a mess again? As if you don't have enough shit to take care of!

tgrimes I hope your half sister is able to get through to them. Sorry you are dealing with all this nam2013 you are so thoughtful. Everytime you talk about these gifts, I think about how amazing it is that you do such personal things for those you love.

tgrimes I'm glad your half sister is there taking over for a bit, I hope you guys are able to find an assisted living facility for him. I'm so sorry, aside from all the tasks the emotional toll is a lot. And WTF to your husband, not ok, I'm mad for you.

Feels like a Monday. Forgot C needed paperclips for school and I'm not taking 3 kids to the store for paperclips (because of covid not because I'm lazy) so he will just have them a day late.

Busy morning, but the afternoon will be dead because our machine is getting worked on. M’s teacher assigned a project for this week so that means I have homework. 🙄 He doesn’t have homework on Wednesday, so we will discuss what we want to do for it Tuesday so we can do the work Wednesday.

Hello!
Quiet Monday...another chilly week here (kind of unusual for early Dec. here, but we'll take it!) I've been working on Xmas cards this morning and more laundry/tidying up. I have gifts left to order/buy and I really need to get on that in the next couple days, esp. stuff that has to be shipped. I feel like I've done a ton of buying/shopping lately but it was mostly for birthdays or house/decor-related stuff.

tgrimes I’m sorry that you came home to a mess. Hopefully your other sister can talk some sense into them. Is it your mom that is most against it? Or both? When we put my grandparents in assisted living my grandma fought it for a while. Grandpa, who is worse off, said he just wanted to be wherever grandma is 💓. He’s the sweetest. They finally gave in and really like it. We sold their house and all their stuff and that helps pay for it because they didn’t have any long term care insurance.

Job saga:
MH got a call Friday about a position at a school in DC. I love the area and was a little excited at the prospect, but after knowing HCOL area and what it would take to get us there, I knew it wasn’t gonna happen. Head coach called him today and I was right. 🤦🏽♀️ It would be hard to enjoy anything there based on what the salary was. He has had to turn down other offers like this, too in the past couple months.

Do you think your H would get his butt in gear to help if you told him (calmly) that you are extremely overwhelmed and need him to do XYZ? MH is pretty responsive with this stuff but when I was struggling with distance learning and maintaining everything I did this and was able to take the tasks and mental load that came with them off of my plate. |

I'm sorry lahdeedah. That area has such a HCOL. It stinks that the positions salary wouldn't allow for comfort there. I hope something comes through soon. How are you doing? I imagine this time of year and with COVID it's just extra hard. Lots of love! |
