This Texas—SCOTUS thing really worries me and bothers me so much. I could never have imagined this happening 4 years ago. And shit, if Dems didn’t do that against drumph. The damage of just filing this will set more flames to his base. Rambling but very disheartened today. TSwift put out a new album so I’ll be focused on that today. If it gives you any peace of mind -- all the lawyers I've heard talk about this think this is going nowhere.

I guess I’m more worried that it’s all come to this. Like wtf I do understand that point. I really hope this chaotic lawsuit filing and general bullshit doesn’t set a precedent going forward when the GOP loses.

I have never related more to a TikTok. Brought to you by me being up way too late last night fighting my ignorant congressman’s even more ignorant chief of staff on Twitter. vm.tiktok.com/ZMJq9PUFb/

I admit I'm appalled/afraid at the numbers of elected officials signing on to the Texas lawsuit. And that they have such vocal supporters.
I think we, as a nation, have to work on finding some common ground. I think there is common ground, but it's getting so lost, to both sides, in clannish behavior, clinging to silos, and valuing philosophical purity over all else.
And what I really want to do is retreat and just wait for my turn for a vaccine and looking forward to all the Disney+ shows. And that the most heated debate is 'Bucky Barnes - which is more attractive - long or short hair'?

The Texas law suit has absolutely no legal merit and will not succeed. It is alarming to see so many AGs sign onto it.
I think Biden needs to make it a priority to review some of the law bending and breaking that occurred in the last 4 years, and put some additional failsafes into place so we don’t wind up in this chaotic place again. Even if it means limiting some of his own power this term, it’ll be worth it.

@icedtea, I struggle with that a lot as well. Some things are 'just wrong' in my mind, no matter how accepted in another culture or political party.
But what's the best way to deal with that? I feel that there are a lot of Republicans who feel bereft of a political party right now (just as I often felt when dealing with the Bernie and other very hard left flanks of the Democratic party). Honestly, I'm not throwing the Bushes and those who would follow them into the Tea Party basket, for example.
Looking at down ticket voting this last time, I don't see the Democratic party doing a great job at 'winning hearts and minds' right now, and it's something that has to done to accomplish good things for all of us in my mind.

I back this - laws that don't have even moderate buy in from a majority of people just end up being flouted, IME.

I saw an interesting twitter thread several weeks ago that was along the lines of dems, for once in their lives, need to take their mandate.
When the GOP wins, they're happy to crow about how popular and loved they are and when was the last time they won a popular vote in the presidency? They only represent a minority of the country.
We don't need common ground. We need to act like we won because we did and we're disenfranchising our own side, over and over again. Our whole point is to make life better for everyone! We don't need to find common ground with people who fundamentally disagree with that stance, we just need to make everyone's life better! Maybe they'll come around when they are no longer living in dire straits themselves, or maybe they won't because they're nazis.
We need to take the win here.

If we don't win both Georgia senate seats he fuckin better be writing some EOs. McConnell hates him on principle and will just shirk him every step of the way.
There are a LOT of things that absolutely are popular with the majority of the country but never see the light of day because of that intransigent dickhead.

The myth that we just have to be moderate enough, be quiet enough, be whatever enough to get conservatives to like us and then everything will be perfect is just that: a myth. They're just not that into us. We need to realize that and instead work for the people who have been keeping the democratic party alive for years: people of color. When do they get to be considered in the conversation? I'll get off my soap box now lol Yes this. I don't mean we have to go fire and brimstone but kinda almost to that point. The state of the country is in shambles and we need strong progressive leaders who aren't afraid to taken on these bullheaded shitfaces.

Episode 6: Loved how Charlie stepped up to protect Zoe. He's quickly becoming one of my favorites. Also, that speech the President gave to Zoe about why her safety is so important? Goddamn. Martin Sheen did an amazing job in that scene.
Episode 7: just started it, but I am loving CJ's snark about how the only thing people care about it what the FLOTUS is wearing to the state dinner. Also, new favorite quote: "Did you know that people in Indonesia summarily execute people they think are sorcerers?". Dawn's obsession with tiny details and pseudo conspiracy theories cracks me up.

Sorry to be a complete AW this week, but baby byjove is 5 today!! This day is made extra special by the fact that is the first time in preschool record that she will get to enjoy the same birthday biscuit as everyone else in group!! Take that food allergies 💪
(The school has always been good about picking something else to make for her and for other kids’ birthdays I had brought in something biscuit like for her to have and the school makes all of the food, so I didn’t have to deal with getting other parents to comply, but no accommodations necessary now 🥳)

Has he always been a dickhead or is this new with Trump? Or did he grow from a small dick to a large dick? He's been a complete dickhead since he became senate majority leader back during Obama's first term, so I suspect he's always been one. I'll never forget him flat out saying first thing that his goal was to make Obama a one term president. Fuck Mitch McConnell.
