Our top contender for baby is Anthony John. My brother was Anthony and MHs favorite uncle was John and both have passed away. I don't love that the name is so common and I am not looking forward to my moms reaction. I also don't think it does with G's name. very handsome name! Is that the name of your ex? Haha. I somehow remember you having a sticky name situation with your H promising someone to name the boy after someone in his family, which happened to be the same name as your ex

So we have talked names a bit now and so far my favorite is Andy. DH doesn't like full name Andrew so I think we would just do Andy James LN or something like that. He likes Joshua James but I don't bc he would have to go by "JJ" or his MN bc DH goes by josh. I'm pulling hard for Andy. I also like Samuel & think nn Sam would be so cute. Both are precious with DDs name. looooove those!

I'm bringing this thread back because we are struggling a little. With DS it was so easy, it took us like 10 minutes if that. The two we are considering right now are: Lydia Rose Adelyn Rose I have liked Lydia for a long time, but I also really like Adelyn, with the nickname Addy. DH doesn't really love Lydia, but he agreed to think about it and not completely say no right away. I love both of those but I would go with Lydia just because I feel like Adelyn/Addy is sooo common now. Regardless, it's a gorgeous name +1. My niece is Addie and so are all the other girls in her class.

That's very cute, watermelonseed! Thea is high on our girl list. I doubt it will be what we eventually land on if it's a girl, but I think it's a really pretty choice.

That was the name MH promised his sister he would name a son if he had one. 🙄 I was not going to let that happen.

Well H and I had a top contender that we both really liked, until I found out it was THE MOST POPULAR NAME of 2017. ☹️ It was Emma. Womp womp.
I mean, I obviously knew it was common, just didn't realize it was #1 on the list. So now we're back to brainstorm mode.

Thank you for sharing this! I'm a little shocked to see Scarlett at #27. I haven't seen any around where I live but that's more popular than I thought. DS1 and DS2 names are in the top #20 but they are not tripping over kids sharing there name either though so maybe I shouldn't think too much about this. I learned my own name is still not very popular!

Oh yay I forgot about this thread! We never tell anyone IRL our names ahead of time so I like having spots online to talk about it haha.
My old list on here is no longer at all what we are going with haha.
We're team green.
If it's a girl, we have settled on Noelle Frances.
If it's a boy, I'm feeling confident saying Nolan, with either Sean or Cory as the middle name, H is deciding that as they are both family names for him and I don't have strong feelings about it.

Choosing/agreeing on a name is hard!!
I think we may go with Elliot Steven.
Steven is my husband's fav great uncle, so that part is for sure. I'm not in love with it but I know it will mean a lot to his family so I'm supportive. Plus, I got to have a family name for DS1.
What do you guys think of Elliot??

Of course we found out theyre boys 😂

It is amazing how regional it can be! yes names can be so regional, and outside of the top 15-20 the actual number of births per name can be relatively low, just because people use such a wide variety of names.

At the moment we have three in contention, but I'm still not sure any of them are my favorite.
Arden Rae or Arden Virginia Gemma Rae Harlow Ann
I don't know that Gemma sounds the best and several people have asked my how to pronounce it. DD3 sounds freaking adorable when she says Harlow. DD1 is attached to Arden.

sweetsurprise I like the name Elliot. To be perfectly honest I had to grow to love all my girls names. Despite the fact that I got my first choice with DD1 & 3. I've just never been able to immediately fall in love with a name. And I think so many names are nice, but it's weird to think of having a child with that name. Maybe I'm weird? 🤷🏼♀️

We spent our plane ride talking names and finally agreed on one! This little one will be Oliver James. (James is my dad's name so we wanted that as part of the name)

peachesncream helloerrbody teraiin I was really surprised too. But my mom and a couple other people thought it was pronounced with a G sound. Uh nope. Our last name starts with a J and I can't decide if the audible alliteration bothers me.

My gf suggested if it's a boy, Mason. The MN we have picked for boy goes really nicely with it, but our last name ends in the same sound as Mason and I'm not sure if that really bothers me or not yet

So funny thing occurred this week. If you read this whole thread you saw the story about MH wanting to name a baby boy the same name as my ex. Well my ex had his first son this week. And he named him after himself. If I ever needed more motivation to not choose that name, there it is. We still haven't chosen a name for baby officially but so far our AJ name is the only contender.

Yes, rebeccabunch, Irish names are way up there! We have a typical Irish last name and several on the list are family names. I'm torn between some of them being my favorites, and how annoying it will be to spell and pronounce them over and over all his or her life! I realize this post is real old, but we have a Kieran and I really am leaning toward Saoirse for this girl. My only hesitation is having to spell it forever and ever and teach people to pronounce it. Your lists are very similar to mine!
