tgrimes glad your Dad is home! How is he feeling? He's very tired and weak. He looks like shit. If I can figure out how to spoiler pics, I'll post some. Right now he's using his walker and doing pretty well. He still needs help sitting and standing. I should be hearing from home health today so I'm hoping with some physical therapy, he'll eventually be back to just needing his cane, like before. I've talked to my mother about moving closer to either me or my sister. She's come up with a million excuses. It's itme though. If my dad can't drive in a few weeks, they'll need to do something soon.

Morning all. B has found some Holiday Countdown option on our cable provider, there are games, videos of crafts and Christmas music karaoke. He's currently belting out Jingle Bells. It's 7.38am. Me and Julia are just very

tgrimes Why do they live so far away? Are they near any family? They met in CA and lived here several years before having us. As soon as I graduated high school they moved back to CA. My uncle lives nearby and they have a sail boat together. However, my parents haven't gotten on that boat in several years. My dad can only get on the dock when it's high tide, otherwise it's too steep. The thing is, they barely see my uncle. His wife passed away a couple years ago and he spends all daylight hours at the dock. Anyway, my sister and I think my mother believes it's some sort of status thing to say she lives in CA. IDK. Don't get me wrong, the view is gorgeous and the weather is nice. But is it really worth all that to not be around your kids/grandkids?

How many pizzas do I need for 6 7 year olds? 2? 3? 12? I was thinking 1 pepperoni and 1 cheese. But I always worry I'll run out.

tgrimes I hope they eventually realize it'd be better all around to be close to you guys. Maybe you can start bragging about how hip and desirable Houston is and if your mom feels it has prestige it'll convince her. 😉 I hope PT helps your dad. klong11 2 sounds reasonable to me. nam2013 how are things going with baby girl? vino lolz.

I've never taken a full week off for TG before. I just have to get through today which should be manageable.

inthekitty My parents lived in Houston for 14 years. My mother hates TX though so who knows if she'd ever move back. They lived in OK for 5 years and every time they go back to visit my sister they complain about the tornadoes and cold weather. Mom told me last night she should just shrivel up and die already. Good talk mom. Way to be dramatic.

tgrimes I hope you can talk some sense into your mom about the move. I'm glad you get to take him home, hopefully he can improve more there since no one sleeps in a hospital. I'm assuming a home health nurse would come by regularly to check status on him and watch his wound? Thank God it's Friday! Everyday this week, our Christmas light guy has sent me a text that he would be by later that day, or the next morning to start. Wednesday and Thursday were really windy here, so I wasn't surprised he didn't show, but the last I heard from him he told me he'd be here around noon yesterday. By 3, I sent him a text that I assumed he wasn't coming and I was bringing the lights back inside and he needed to text me when he was actually on his way, so I'd set them back out. I haven't heard from him. If I don't hear from him by noon, I'm sending a shitty text that I'm going to look for someone who can show up to put the lights up because by now, everyone will be booked. I originally talked to him about this right before Halloween and told him he could do them anytime after Halloween, as long as they were done by Thanksgiving.

mwhip I'm assuming wound care would be the doctor. He staples all the way down to his shoulder. He basically got a whole face lift on that side. LOL. We left a msg with the ENT because the hospitalist said the staples should come out today. I think home health will be speech therapy and physical therapy, but who knows.

Update on my SIL (text from brother): Just talked to the nurse. The doctor was in seeing her. She had a fever last night but is under control. She's on 2L of oxygen, breathing is better, Dexamethosone is working, still waiting on Covid test results, probably another day and she cane come home, required to quarantine for 14 days.
My brother is feeling achy again and I asked if my SILs doctor would order a Covid test for him and he said he isn't worried about that right now.
I can tell he's stressed and annoyed, so I'm not pushing it. I know he will be smart and stay safe. My nephew who lives in Texas, was supposed to come home today for a week for his college graduation party, so they won't get to see him now, and I know that's bothering him.

mwhip, he could just be stressed and tired and that's why he's feeling achy. I'm surprised they are already sending her home, though. I hope they both recover quickly. Sucks that they can't see their son though.

Sucks that they can't see their son though. So true, I'm sure he isn't sleeping well. He had told me that Monday, he felt achy and was super tired, but then felt better Tuesday, so he may just have a bug as well and the stress isn't helping. I'm just going to back off, I know how he is. And I know he listens to what we say, but is focused only on my SIL and her health.

I’m glad your dad is home tgrimes. Poor guy, those pics look rough. I know older ppl tend to get set in their ways so understand that you mom is resisting a move closer to family. I really hope she could eventually see the benefit of it though. @klongoria, I also agree 2 pizzas would be fine.

Not much going on for me. It’s the last day of B’s quarantine so I’m happy about that. I’ve been doing some online shopping this morning - both for Xmas gifts and myself 🙃 I see a lot of retailers are starting BF sales and doing free shipping. 💸

Although I would probably do 2 plain. or maybe have them do the other one half peperoni half plain We had 12 kids (half 6/7 year olds, half 3/4 year olds) and ordered 4 pies. We had a full pie left over. Only one kid asked for pepperoni.

Is my kid the only weird kid who prefers meat lovers? Cadence prefers pepperoni, but would probably eat the shit out of some meat lovers. Mh doesn't order it because of me, though.

I would do 1 cheese and 1 that is half pepperoni and half cheese as jewels suggested klong11. I'm glad your dad is home tgrimes. It must be so hard to see him like this and have your mom's bs dramatics on top of it.
