So, I had planned a small party for S next weekend. We were going to have a local company come to set up an ninja course in the backyard, and have a few of his friends come over for a few hours. Last night MH realized that he will ahve to quarantine for 2 weeks after his work trip next Monday - Wednesday. So we can't have a party at our house. So I quickly changed everything to this weekend. Of course the ninja course people are booked so it's just kids playing in the backyard. I am sad, even though I know S will have a blast just playing with his friends. But still, now we don't get the course, and I have to plan a party in a few days instead of over a week. I think we are going to plan old school games (like egg on a spoon races and things like that), and get a bunch of crap to give the kids as prizes. (it's a total of 6 1st grade boys and their siblings, all ranging from 4 - 9) Any super fun, EASY, ideas? I want it to be fun, but I am lazy. Would a bouncy house be an alternative? Someone suggested that for me this weekend, but I don’t think I will do it since he won’t have any friends over. If his buddy was here, I would. I bought a laser tag set on prime day that I was planning to let him play with for his birthday with friends, but now I’m saving it for Christmas. Any chance you could prime that for them to play? This is the set. www.amazon.com/ArmoGear-Infrared-Laser-Blasters-Vests/dp/B076T9W19V/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=laser+tag&qid=1605194350&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyS1RFVzdNOUhSSTkmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA2Mzg1NzYzR1BEOTlHNVA5V0xFJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAzMzYzMjNMTkFBNUowTDYwMzcmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

I'm a little pissed at this math assessment. They haven't been taught most of this stuff and it's making her very frustrated. I'm not allowed to help her at all. We had a 15 minute screaming match over question #1. I knew at that point it wasn't going to go well. Good thing it's not timed. 🤦

Can you imagine if my MIL and tgrimes mom got together? This would be a fun game. It could be a little competition of who can out do the other. They’d probably become BFFs or completely despise each other. It could really go either way!

I'm surprised she needs to quarantine yummeecookee. Per the CDC the infectious period for a symptomatic person is 2 days before symptoms appear. If asymptomatic it would be 14 days after the last exposure. I just looked this up because the neighbor we drive to school sometimes has a fever. He is being tested tomorrow. We were last with him on Friday morning so we wouldn't be defined as close contacts. I’ve written to the school nurse to make sure I am understanding correctly. The guidance made it sound as though they need to quarantine for 14 days after exposure to someone with a positive case. She was in contact with the person on 11/7. lahdeedah, yes she is able to do DL during this time.

Dizzy bat and races where they run to a chair and sit on a balloon to pop it. Is it going to be a nice weekend? You could buy a projector off of Amazon and show a backyard movie? Make bags of popcorn and ice cream sandwiches?

Good morning. I’m at work. Things are going well. I download the new internet edge. Then changed a bunch of settings to get SAP to work. Order some stuff. Then request MS Project to help me keep the projects straight while Boss B is furloughed. My first day back from my vacation over thanksgiving is over booked now

Morning. Kids are back to school today. S has a field trip to the grocery store to learn about the food groups. I sent her in a mask and I know mask are required there so it should be ok. Somehow all of our kid mittens/gloves have disappeared so I need to order some from target for pick up. PSA for my fellow healthcare workers: the north face is giving HCW 50% off until the end of the year. You do the verification on the website. I’m going to be getting a few things because why wouldn’t I? tgrimes I’m sorry your dad isn’t doing as well as you thought/hoped. Safe travels.

trtlcrzy, I just got new gloves for my kiddos too. The basic cheapie kinds that were $2/pair at target. I did have to laugh that I noticed they still had the “tech” thumb and forefinger on them so they could access touchscreens!

I just bought Cadence some gloves. She probably won't need them because Texas, but they were cute and she keeps asking for some. They'll be part of her Mrs. Claus gift.

I bought Cadence her holiday pjs and outfit the other day from Kohls. 2 days ago I did a Carter's order and got her some holidays pjs and outfit. I had completely forgotten about the ones from Kohls until they arrived. Girl will just be extra festive this year. I was telling her today that she still gets to see Santa, but that there would be plexiglass between them(and masks). She said that's probably a good idea because the last person that needs to get corona is Santa.

Cadence wants a face mask with an animal face on it. Like the nose and mouth or whatever. Does anyone have masks like this that they like?

jewels , a piñata, C loves pin the tail on the Donkey. Do you have Nerf guns? You could put targets on things and kind of make a course like that or use it as part of an obstacle course. C also enjoys limbo and it is pretty funny. Hot potato is a fun classic. I just did a big party city order for the supplies. Party is mostly Pokemon themed. So I ordered a pokemon pinata. I also found a pokemon pin the pokeball on the the poster thing. I figure since the kids can't share a mask, I'll tell everyone to keep their mask and put it over their eyes to play lol I think one of the families coming would not be cool w/ nerf guns. I just added limbo though, that's a great idea. I wound up buying a bunch of cheap prizes so instead of a favor bag, kids will get to pick prizes for winning, and I'll make sure everyone wins at least something.

Thanks for all the ideas!! I think we've got a bunch of stuff now to keep them busy and competing.
I'm gonna add a dance off b/c who doesn't love that, lol.
We are not going to do the bouncy house or movie so we can keep the "compete" theme going.

Hi, from an Uber. My mother doesn’t know I’m coming so I’ll let y’all know how pissed she is at me when I knock on her door. This seems risky with your mom. Most parents would be excited...your mom is not 'most.' Good luck! The eye dr was traumatizing. If this is what it's like everytime, I really don't know how it will work. She LOST HER SHIT when it was time for the eye drops to dilate her eyes. I was holding her arms down and she was scream crying. Afterward, it was as if nothing happened. I told her we are going to practice with just regular eye drops. Anyone have other ideas?

mwhip, how did they do it? did they pry her eye open and all that? Ours put the drop on the edge of her eyelid and told her to blink blink blink as fast as she could and the drop went into her. Very un-traumatizing.

I’m sorry it’s didn’t go well mwhip! I took C to the eye doctor about a month ago and they were somehow able to get the eye drops into his eyes while he had them closed. They just kinda placed the dropper near the corners of his inner eye. I’d say to try it that way until she gets used to the sensation of putting a liquid on her eye. Once she realizes it’s not painful then she may allow it w a full, open eye.

I think she's still traumatized from her previous experience, where they had her keep her eyes open and did it.
I took her to a pediatric ophthalmologist this time and she was sitting on my lap, then they leaned us back in a chair so she would be laying down on me, which made her freak out. The lady told her she could close her eyes and she would pull the corner open softly to put the drop in, but evie flipped out. It made the appointment last 15 to 20 minutes longer whole we convinced her it was fine.

We were done with patients an hour before leave time and I started feeling crummy so I left. As soon as I started driving home, I got sick. 😫 I think the motion did it to me. I haven’t eaten all day, so just liquid. Good thing I keep a couple emesis bags from work in my car. They were more so for the kids, but I’m so glad I had them on hand. Crisis averted. I’m on the couch and hoping the kids will be good tonight. MH has started doing a boot camp in the evenings at this guy’s gym, so I’ll be solo for about two hours.
