Morning. My friend, who moved from Texas to over here almost two years ago stoped by to drop of a present! She got me a whole frida mom pp recovery kit, how amazing is that?! She also brought a very cute swaddle and sleeper, so sweet.
I put the stew on this morning, normally I’ll put in a bottle of nice Bordeaux, but I used an alcohol free wine this time round & I’m surprised by how well it turned out!
Outside following the US elections (according to Dh he’s staying up all night, I don’t think I’ll manage that), not much else on the agenda today.

I kept waking up with a racing heart last night, I must have been dreaming about the election! My sister is coming over today so that'll be a nice distraction from this terrifying day.

With all the mail in ballots and early voting I’m sure we won’t have results until sometime tomorrow.

I didn’t sleep well last night. I guess it was pre-election day anxieties. I don’t feel tired though, that must be the adrenaline. Oi, this is going to be a long day.

Good morning. I’m excited to cast my ballot in about an hour. I’m cautiously optimistic. Other than that, normal day for me including working this evening.

He’s just one of those history/social studies teachers who that will read Jefferson biography for ‘a little light reading before bed’, he wants to know everything....

I'm nervous about today. Seeing local shops boarding up their windows is just...mind boggling to me. What kind of world are we living in where people think it's okay to destroy property over a democratic vote? Even if it doesn't go your way, be an adult about it. I've seen people saying they're keeping their kids home from school tomorrow even.

Morning.
Apparently my nerves today are manifesting into cleaning out my system. I’ve already been to bathroom twice. 🙈 This IS going to be a long day. Glad I’m off of work.
Yesterday as soon as I got home, M told me that “tomorrow is Election Day and you have to go vote for Joe and Kamala”. They must have talked about Election Day at school.
Let’s see if I can turn this nervous energy into productive energy and get something done around the house.

mwhip Dh and I said the exact same thing to each other yesterday... what a world our kids are growing up in 😕. Let’s hope tonight brings some relief, especially for all of you living in the US.

H was up at 5:30. I tried to get him back to sleep but I failed. I’ve already done laundry, the dishes, cleaned out closets/drawers & I have 5 huge bags to donate.
Today M & I will be running a few errands, picking up chili’s for lunch and then ordering H’s birthday cake.

Hi - add me to the list of stressed out people today. Even though I don't think we'll get any real results today. However, my stress is causing me to want to eat all the things. I want pastries, and tons of them. Thankfully we don't have any here.
S is home today as it's an all virtual day and his other program isn't open. So I'm hearing him do his school for the first time. His teacher is amazing. So one positive thing!

Also, found out someone at my work tested positive. I haven't been near him (he works in a different part of the building) but a lot of people have, and apparently he wasn't following the protocols. so that's been fun to deal with.
I am feeling a bit like I felt in March, like everything's about to go downhill. And I'm scared.

Morning! I voted on my run, per usual, but when I got to the polls at 6:03am, there was a line wrapped around the building! I assume it'll slow down, people just wanted to go early in case they needed to wait. I was in and out in under 25 minutes and now we wait.
I started explaining the electoral college to Colin this morning and he was not impressed. And that was without bringing up it's blatantly racist roots. Thought it was so dumb. Same kid, same.

Morning. B finally slept in until 6.50am so I am expecting a semi-delightful day. It's quite warm here for November, Julia went to daycare in a light coat and shoes so hopefully we'll get out at lunch time for a nice walk.
Other than that, just finishing up the little things with the house I have some returns to do and hopefully get everything done this week. I've got to switch into birthday mode, I have done exactly nothing....

Morning. Dropped N off at school, got groceries, then voted. There were no lines so I was in and out in 5 minutes with the boys.
Now L is napping and I’m outside with H. It’s supposed to get to 70 today and the next few days so we’re going to soak it up.
Our numbers in our county are skyrocketing so I imagine N will be back to hybrid by next week which neither of us are thrilled about. I hope she will actually have something more than just a worksheet to do on home days.

Went and voted this morning at the neighborhood library. No line, in and out super fast. It was nice. It also made me a bit worried about turn out. Hoping most of our neighborhood just voted early.
Now I'm at work waiting for IT to show up so he can move my work computer to the front desk and to see if he can get Cadence's school ipad to connect to the wifi here so she can continue coming on Wednesdays with me. School decided that even though Wednesdays are their asynchronous days they still need to log in for a zoom special area. Cadence is not please with this new development. She also told me she doesn't like her art teacher this year because he makes them draw the same things over and over and she wants to draw her own things. I told her that he's just trying to teach her and she said "one day he has us draw a tree. The next time he has us draw the SAME tree, just with like leaves falling. It's dumb and I don't want to draw any more trees!"....he's hindering her artistic freedom. LOL

Add me to the bundle of nerves. I'm really tired of new scandals everyday. I want politics to be boring again and for SNL writers to actually have to work a bit to come up with their material instead of more or less verbatim repeat the POTUS. I would love the US to be run by an adult instead of a bully who has the functional capability of a child.

On a positive note, I saw Netflix has a sequel of The Princess Switch coming out soon. Cass and I are thrilled.

I'm watching Holidate. It's meh for me. I've decided Emma Roberts really annoys me and I find her voice grating. In everything I've seen her in she plays the same bitchy character so I've concluded she's always just being herself and not acting.

Some people just don’t have common sense.

I cannot concentrate for anything. At least I am holding a training later that I could run in my sleep - the prep and then the session should kill a good 2 hours.
I ordered a SAD light and I think it's arriving today. I've honestly been too busy or distracted these last few years to be bothered, but it was an annual struggle in my teens and twenties. And now the idea of a long, locked down winter ahead is starting to get to me. I don't feel sad really, just like I could happily crawl in bed pretty much at any point in the day. It's weird and I don't like it.
Because of COVID and people cancelling vacation plans, they are letting us till over up to 10 vacation days. That leaves me 5 more days to schedule now that I blocked days for the holidays. I think I may just plan a couple days of watching Hallmark movies on the couch. That sounds so amazing right now.

I cleaned the house a bit, did a load of laundry, then went to vote. They changed my Normal precinct location, but the line wasn’t bad. I was in and out in 20 min. Went to Walmart to buy some junk food because of course, and now I’m home ready to stress eat for the rest of the day. Maybe fold that load of laundry even. Lol

Random: I was bike riding with doggo the other day and noticed a t-shaped design in a pumpkin and thought it was interesting that someone was that passionate about IUDs. Then it dawned on me that it's probably a Tennessee Titans thing.
Also saw a custom plate with "DCSKINS" and the first thing that came to mind was "dick skins?" Then realized it was probably for D.C. Redskins. It'll be challenging for them to come up with a new custom plate to capture "Washington Football Team" in 7 characters since coming up with a non-racist name is apparently really hard.
