Morning, or midday I guess. Colin's new 20in bike arrived yesterday so we took the boys out riding this morning. Col struggled for the first 5-10 minutes to control the larger bike but it clicked, and I couldn't keep up with him after that. Chase got to ride the Spiderman bike for the first time and is all onboard to offer the balance bike to the neighbors. Their son is only 1 1/2 but may be ready to st least play with it next spring. I think we'll boo then this week and put in a note about the bike. It's a nice bike, someone may as well get more use out of it.

Nothing planned today at all. I got in a few miles while chasing down Colin so I will probably get some yard work in during Chase's nap. Or just relax and take a random day off to do yardwork - I am going to lose days because I just haven't taken any.

joelies, the bike that M just got is a 20 in (she had an 18) and Cass will get one for her birthday in 3 weeks. I think that once they have bigger bikes they'll really be cruising past us. Glad that C got the hang of his quickly.

I saw my dad yesterday, he looks great! He definitely has times he can't think of the words he wants to say but overall is feeling well. He told me they'll probably just do surgery to remove the tumor and he will be out of work for 2 or 3 days and it'll be over. I wish it were that easy, dad 🤣

Today my in laws came for Cs football game. Dh has said before that he doesn’t think his parents come to our house because we don’t outright invite them. They visited us three times in Boston (when dh graduates undergrad and grad and then when C was born) and once here when I had them and BILs family for a housewarming type thing. They live 1hr and 15 mins away.

We confirmed football this week via text. Gave directions to the field and I wrote something about them meeting our cats after.The plan was to meet at the game at 11 and I assumed they would come back to the house and I’d grab subs or something on the way home. At 7:48 this morning I get a text from MIL saying “we are up and if it’s ok with you, we will leave now and be there around 9:30 to see the cats then leave after the game.” WTF! Now I’m irritated and want to get it over with so I agreed and we dragged our butts out of bed and got ready. Not an easy feat the day after a ropes course! They ended up being here for about a half an hour and stood the whole time, pet the one cat that was not hiding, and used the restroom. It was so weird. They talk and stuff but are clearly so uncomfortable.

The game was good but Cs team lost by 2 points and it was a rough loss due to an error in the play so C and another boy started crying. Apparently C was supposed to get the ball but I think he was mostly upset because he wanted to win for his grandparents.

Back to the in laws. I’m pretty sure they have zero interest in visiting us and it has nothing to do with an invite. They have been to BILs house (maybe 20mins closer) so many times and to their girls sporting events a ton. I also think it was super rude to text morning of and change it up but I need to let it go because this is the weird shit they do. I probably won’t be inviting them again.

I'm sorry wedding . That's so frustrating. I had similar issues with my ILs. It's really irritating. Especially for you with seeing the different relationship with your BiL. I don't know how people can be so oblivious to the shitty things they do at times. How does YH feel about it?

I made the mistake of letting L get the Target Toy catalog. He’s circling almost everything that doesn’t have a gun or is a gun.

inthekitty dh doesn’t care. He says that’s just how they are and doesn’t take offense. I have a harder time with it.

chrisy01 it’s not worth it. Honestly. I’ve always known his mom doesn’t like us as much as BIL and family. They are great to C though so as long as it doesn’t affect him and Dh doesn’t care, I’ll just deal with their shit.

I'm sorry your ILs were weird wedding . Mine aren't that bad but they do things that definitely have me scratching my head at times. DH has learned 'that's just the way they are' and is able to let a lot of it go, but it is so different from my family and how I was raised in certain respects that I have a hard time grappling with it sometimes. So I feel ya'.

We had a good day, but I am wiped out. This morning we surprised the kids with an 'adventure' to St Augustine to visit the Spanish fort there and have lunch, walk around, etc.

We finished up with ice cream and then came back here where the kids spent the rest of the day outside with the neighborhood gang. At one point we had 11 kids in our backyard, lol.

Dh had planned to take both kids out individually for a special dinner (their choice) this week, so tonight he and C went out for pizza. Super cute, she had the best time.

Hi all - I'm trying to read but have trouble keeping up with commenting. With my boss being on maternity leave and my second to last class just starting, I'm back to working til midnight every night.. or trying to work but likely doom scrolling.

Anywho, yesterday we had tickets for a farm an hour away and got us all in the car and had an f'ing flat. Of course mh hadn't taken care of the dead battery in his car since we rarely drive lately, so lost $70 on tickets we couldn't use. We did have a neighborhood block party last night though, which was fun.

I took car in today and ended up with all new tires from Costco and walked around target while I waited since it was rainy, it felt quite indulgent. And then on my drive home I pulled up to a light in a neighborhood and a car ran a light or something and plowed into the car in front of me, which hit another car and was scarily close to mine. I called 911 and waited for paramedics, it seemed everyone was okay, but ugh. It happened so fast.
