nam2013, yay for maternity leave! I'm sorry your coworkers didn't do anything, especially when you always put in so much effort for them. Glad you have a nice evening planned! Remind me how far along you are? I'm thinking girl.... Close to 34 weeks (I went on leave early this time, at least 4 weeks is mandatory over here). But I really wanted to go on a mini break with my h and the kids and now the the only option possible to do so. I’m glad I did tough . With ds I was convinced it was a girl (my grandma has three girls and so do my mom of course), with dd I was convinced it was a boy... couldn’t have been more wrong of course, so I’m clueless this time! Baby boy/girl needs to stay put for at least another 3.4 days because otherwise I can’t deliver at home. This last bit will sound insane to all of you, but is quite common over here .

Ahhh so I’m not doing anything wrong, good to know . No you aren't doing anything wrong. It's the coldness of the weather that allows them to stay for a long time. If you are in a warmer climate they will shrivel up sooner than a colder one. True life. I’ve had frozen pumpkins before we could carve them before, that’s a real disaster. I’ve also heard dipping them in bleach water after carving can help them last longer:

Friday! We are going to dinner with friends tonight and our sitter texted me this morning saying she’s sick. So mad scramble to find someone. I texted 4 or 5 others who are busy but one of them asked a friend who is free. Whew! (And she’s not a complete stranger, I actually know her, just didn’t realize she was home from college)
Trying to clean the house since Ls party is Sunday. He’s also getting baptized Sunday morning, and I’m so glad we’re combining them so i only have to host once. We’re getting a bouncy house for the kids since it’ll be a beautiful weekend, and they’ll deliver it tomorrow so we get an extra day with it. Tomorrow is going to be super busy and my brothers family is coming to stay the night so I have to get things done!

I'm at work for 1 more hour. My doctor appointment isn't until 1:45, but I don't feel like going home in between, so I may just wander around the book store for a bit, grab an outdoor lunch somewhere, or eat in my car. I feel like if I go home only to leave a little bit later Cadence will get upset, which I prefer not to do to her.
I had to move a bunch of boxes to find 1 single file. It was of course in the middle of the room we are currently using as our box storage. One day they will rent a new unit close to our new location, but they are waiting for the final lease on the new office to be signed first.
I ordered a mask from etsy that is Frankenstein's mouth. This way, Cadence can be Frankenstein AND wear a mask without losing the appeal of the costume. I also bought one for myself that has red lips printed on them so I can be the Bride of F.

Morning. DH was home yesterday from work because S had donuts with dad at preschool. Of course that messed up my normal routine. I did spend a good chunk of time in the afternoon picking up, dusting and otherwise cleaning my bedroom. The dresser just becomes a giant dumping ground so I wanted to get that under control. Of course that sent my allergies into overdrive because I’m allergic to dust mites. Then in the evening we went over to a friends house to celebrate their kid’s first birthday. That was fun but H was a disaster by the time we got home because she was overtired. DH can’t handle that well, he goes straight to yelling and threatening to take things away. So I had to take over to get her showered and into bed.
On another unrelated note, I decided to stop my Zoloft so I’ve been going through some withdrawal symptoms. For the most part they haven’t been too bad but I can already feel that I’m going to be agitated today. I think the med is why I’ve gained so much weight and can’t lose it. I also think I am better able to control my anxiety/irritability.

Hooray for maternity leave, nam2013! I was thinking about you today! You’d better keep me in the loop with the forest daycare thing, you’re basically living out my dream (I have two, this and opening a bookstore/cafe) so please let me live vicariously!

I could see you running a bookstore/cat cafe coffee shop thing. Re: forest school, there’s this silly requirement that we have to advertise for 30 days before we can officially register, basically to make sure we aren’t opening the business in someone else’s name. So, clock is ticking on that. We had an issue with the county incorrectly filing our initial documents.🙄

Hi!
Tim is at speech with X. After that, X is going to DC and we’re heading out to a little cabin where we will do absolutely nothing but read and hike for the next couple days. I can’t wait.

nam2013 and anyone else. I’ve had success covering all the cut open areas with pineapple juice. The acidity helps keep it fresher. It’s what places use to keep apple slices from browning too.

After my team meeting I’m off work early today. I just don’t feel like doing work. I’m going to veg out and do some laundry. Our original Halloween shirts were cancelled so I caved in and bought costume for me and a costume like piece for C. We are done for Halloween.

Mine too! I always have to wait til the week of Halloween or else they are a shrunken mess. Same! And the squirrels will eat them! Some say to dip in a bleach solution but I feed them to the chickens once they wilt so we don't do that. Same for wildlife.

I haven't even bought pumpkins yet because they usually go bad. Last year they froze before Halloween, so we didn't carve them at all. Evie keeps asking, so maybe this weekend I'll give in and go buy some. Don't worry vino, my attitude is back to normal, work ruins it everytime for me. I'm so overwhelmed and stressed, sometimes I'm sitting here and forget to breath.

Well we've got lotto tickets for the $75 million draw (tax free) so I'll throw some your way AND or take us all on a vacation.

peachsmama I just caught up on yesterday’s thread and I just wanted to tell you how amazing you are. To take care of your moms house and animals so she can focus on your cousin, even though you are grieving as well, was so nice and selfless. 💕

We are headed to the in laws to celebrate Cs bday and Halloween but my SIL texted that her youngest has a fever. My MIL texted back asking if she is getting tested. Her response was: she got tested in August so we are going to monitor for now. Umm..that’s not how it works. Anyway, I’m glad they didn’t just come. We are still going for the night. It should be fun.

I dislike carving pumpkins. I don't mind cleaning them out and cooking the seeds, but don't enjoy the actual carving.

Mine too! I always have to wait til the week of Halloween or else they are a shrunken mess. Same! And the squirrels will eat them! I read that you can put one of those little packages inside the ones that come in boxes or deliveries. I think it’s called a silica packet. I don’t know if it’ll keep the animals away but I have read that it keeps it from falling in on itself.

mwhip any word on the ultrasound? No, unfortunately. Her rheumatologists nurse responded to my email yesterday, that they would let me know as soon as they get the results. But I didn't hear anything today. Hate waiting over the weekend, but hopefully we hear Monday AM. Thanks for thinking of us!
