Yesterday we took the kids to a wildlife zoo. It was about 45 min away and they have trams aka a small truck that pulls a trailer with seats for you to see the all of the animals. It was hot as balls and we had to wait about an hour and half since they don't cram you on the tram anymore. The kids had a lot of fun.

Hi everyone. Usual WFH day. I bought a booster seat for my SIL’s car and I’ve asked her to pick up B from school today since I have a conf call at the time. I hope B can remember what her car looks like. I went over it a million times w her.
We ordered a new dining set over the wknd. Something we’ve been wanting to upgrade we’ve since we moved into this house so I’m glad we finally got around to it.

Morning! WFH today, S has no school for the Jewish holidays, but the Y is still open so he went to play with his friends so I could get some stuff done.
I completely just skipped over the holidays this year. Usually our only real involvement is family dinners and since that's not happening, I just couldn't get into it. Oh well. 2021, I guess.

Morning! I love new furniture, @yummeecookie! Show us what you bought. I think our garage fridge is dunzo. It can’t hold a chill. There’s only bread in it now so I’m not worried about it spoiling anything, but we need it, especially with the holidays coming up. I called the appliance repair company this morning, and I’m hoping it can be fixed.

Like others, it’s a school holiday. M is at camp, H is at daycare, MH is at work and I’m at the dr. I still have to work today but at least I’ll have the house to myself.

Anybody making plans for the holidays? I’m just assuming get togethers are not possible in the foreseeable future... hopefully my parents can come over for dinner maybe? And we can invite the in-laws for a brunch maybe? But I’m shooting for 2021... this is all going to be so weird. ETA sorry but random , jewels triggered me and my stream of thoughts .

Morning. I had lots of little things to do to day, calls to make etc. COVID numbers are climbing fast over here again, apparently the main source of infections are college age kids who are spreading it, so stricter guidelines are going back in place. For me still not strict enough, we’re heading straight back in to a lockdown again.

nam2013, we will still get together with my Mom and possibly my brothers. I'm nervous to be around mh's sister because I know they are not social distancing.

Morning. No holiday here so both big girls are at school. I have cleaning plans for the morning. I feel like my house is always worse when I work the weekends. The weather has taken a turn and it is in the 40s this morning, brr. I’m still drinking iced coffee tho. nam2013 college kids are spreading it here like crazy too. It seems like they aren’t getting too terribly sick though and now that school has been going on for a month spread has slowed. As for the holidays I have put no real thought into it because I’m trying to not plan too far ahead.

Morning. I had an early morning for work. No school holiday over here. They sent out an updated school calendar week before last and it seems that some of our normal off days will be distance learning days because they pushed the start of school back 4 weeks. Example- M’s fall break is normal 2 days, but this year it’s one off day and one DL day. I’m hoping the distance learning day is just like the spring and not an all day affair. nam2013 We haven’t made any plans yet for the holiday. None of my family have asked and I really don’t know what to plan. If we see anyone it would just be our parents/grandparents.

But the parents of that district are organizing protests and going to the school board over being completely virtual.

Schedule changes start this week and I go back to 30 hours. Woohoo. I've also decided since I'll be working an afternoon shift that I will continue to get up at 6 and use that first hour of the day to get out and walk, then I'll come back shower, get Cadence up and ready, and get my day started. This extra weight has got to go!
Cadence has SOL assessments this afternoon one on one with her teacher. No idea what sort of testing it is, since the first I heard about it was yesterday in the "this week" email from her teacher. She also has MAP Growth assessments on the 7th and 14th. I had to email her teacher about that one though because the 7th is when she's having that dental work done and there is no way she's going to be in the right mood to test anything. Her teacher is going to reschedule her MAP reading for another day. I think they are just to see where they are currently and then they test again at the end of the year to see how they've progressed. But idk for sure.

trtlcrzy Same here, the college kids aren’t getting really sick themselves. Since the majority still lives at home over here (no campuses) they are however spreading it to their parents who are then spreading to their elderly parents etc etc. I mean I get it, it sucks big time!!! But if an 8yo can deal with not being able to celebrate Halloween, his/her birthday, going to in person classes (not the case over here, but still) a 21 should be able to not go to parties/bars etc. right...? But maybe I’m old and I cannot grasp how difficult this really is for that specific age group🤷🏼♀️.

Christmas Eve is the only holiday where we typically see family. While the kids are little and I prefer Christmas day in our own house, and we started a really nice Thanksgiving tradition at home (although I do miss my family on those days). I don’t think will see them this year so probably a zoom and something creative on my part to make Christmas Eve extra special. My in-laws are podded up together and all working from home so if they wanted to come up for a long weekend for Thanksgiving or New Year’s I’d be happy to have them.

For Thanksgiving we would see immediate family. I would like to be with my family but my mom mentioned how it's my uncles turn to host and I'm not going over there and opening up my germ circle to 4 more people that aren't great at this social distancing thing. So who knows. I may be ordering dinner from Whole Foods.
Christmas Eve at DH's family is usually alot of people but his parents are being really careful since his 86 yo grandfather lives with them so it will just be them. Christmas Day is just my parents and brother.
It's all those other parties leading up to the holidays that will be missed:(

Morning.
The weekend was alright, MH and I were a little snippy at each other so it made for a long Sunday. Today he is at home cause the water is shut off at work for some reason and he isnt allowed back until we get J's COVID test results back, B and mine came back negative already so I am sure she is fine, hopefully it comes today. So he is home entertaining J while I WFH and B is on school.
Just got word that he is leaving tomorrow morning overnight, so yay for a break.

I dont know, I've thought about this a lot and thinking back to my 20's it would have been really difficult to live the lockdown life. I had two jobs (jobs at this age are retail/restaurants etc where you'd naturally see a lot of people), in school and life was all social. I think that it's easy to understand the importance of it, but not to the full extent of being an adult later in life with bigger responsibilities. This is hard for everyone but at that age you are in between the advice of your parents and making the 'right' decision for yourself so I kinda get it.

The colleges here are causing our numbers to spike as well. There are a few in Providence that have primarily off campus housing so mandatory quarantines can't really be enforced. One of the big ones did switch to distance learning for two weeks but they won't commit to just doing it and people are pissed. I'm still baffled that anyone went back to any campus to be honest.
Since we can't really have a party for C we want to take him to a ropes/ziplining course. The minimum age is 7 but the Saturday after his bday is Halloween and even if we don't TOT there will be some stuff going on in our neighborhood. Can I pretend he was born on 10/24? I feel bad doing it but they close for the season Nov 1st.

Maybe I read slow, but some of these subtitles are moving too fast for me! You definitely can't look away because you'll miss something! I sort of wish we had waited until all of the episodes were out so I could binge it. Oh well. I'm sure sports on tv will spread the episodes out for awhile.
