As if a boat parade wasn’t enough, people here are planning a Trump Car Parade. ON THE 75Mph HIGHWAY. I hope they all get flat tires

I didn't know if this should go here or the election thread. Either way, I agree 100% with Charlotte:

It makes me sad that America is a place where the president appearing at a memorial for a Supreme Court justice isn’t welcome. It’s wrong.
To be a polarizing figure instead of one who brings people together is just wrong.
I cannot take four more years of this. I just can’t.

I'm playing catchup, but as a Catholic abortion is a topic that frequently infuriates me. I know people that are one issue voters and only care about if a candidate supports or doesn't support abortion. I cut off a friend because she got got crazy about it. I'm probably a "bad Catholic" because I'm pro-choice, but if you really want to get into the meat of it, people aren't supposed to judging others and we're not expected to be perfect. We should be putting so much more effort into helping others that need it. I wish there would be more push for that.

It's sad that this is a thing that has to happen now. I really do think it‘s more likely that Trump will disappear from the planet, never to be heard from again, if he loses rather than stick around and cause trouble. Loser is one of his favorite insults and I can’t believe he’ll handle being one with any sort of grace.

When we took a walk today we saw a Republican for Joe Biden sign on the street behind us and 2 Joe signs on another street. It gives me a little hope for my area.

Anthony List (major anti-abortion org) and the whole time I kept thinking, if you really care about this issue, why not work on providing access to contraceptives, or child care or food security or women's health or any number of other things that would support women who want to have babies and making it easier for them to have them when they want to rather than making abortion illegal? I'm not religious but I kept thinking there are more, loving ways to work to reduce the number of abortions. And that those ways would align with their faith.

And what's infuriating about it is that when you look at which candidate's policies are most effective at reducing abortion, Biden wins. Criminalizing abortion doesn't eliminate it!!

Catholics being against birth control is another infuriating things. Statistically more use it than don't. I watched this doc a few years ago called For the Bible Tells Me So. It mostly focused on LGBTQ issues, but the main gist is that the Bible isn't supposed to be taken literally. You should be putting the message in context for when/who it was written. "Go forth and multiply" was literally written for people to go populate the earth. Like, we've done that. And if you want abortions to decrease you need to increase access to birth control. Not exactly rocket science. *personal anecdote poof*
