Morning!
Both kids have school this morning so I’m going to have some free time 😁 Part of C’s bedroom furniture is supposed to be delivered this afternoon.
Today is (local NFL team) day at C’s school so she is super excited. We got her a cute tee to wear. They actually won their opener—truly shocking—so there is a (probably misplaced) sense of optimism in the air.

Happy Friday ladies!
Grocery pick up for me this morning. Evie and I ran to the store last night for a few things and it was the first time I've been in it in over a month. I didn't miss it.
Evie is staying with SMIL and FIL tonight, but H and I have nothing planned.

Fitting thread tittle... I just got home from a meeting with ds’ teacher (normal meeting all parents have/had one) and I got all the feels. It’s not like she told us anything we don’t already know, but I was hoping to be wrong with some things. According to the teacher he’s very sweet & sensitive. He likes his routines. He doesn’t really have friends at this point, but he makes contact and is well liked. He’s very tense/on edge and it is costing him a lot of energy to ‘keep up’ with the literally stronger boys. He has a strong will himself, but because the other boys are louder/stronger, he’s struggling. It’ll take time for him to feel safe in this group. Cognitively speaking he’s ahead of the game.
ETA sorry for the word vomit, stupid emotions are getting the best of me. He sounds a lot like I was as a kid and it was not fun a lot of the time.

A is home so we're all waiting on the bus. Then dropping J at school. Then I'm grabbing coffee and muffins and I have flowers to take to mil. She's having a rough week.

Happy Friday! Having my coffee before drop offs. N gets dropped off at 8:30 but h doesn’t get dropped off until 8:55 and their schools are only 2 minutes apart so I will probably drive around town or L loses his mind if the car sits still too long.
L is quite amusing. We have a robovac that charges in our front living room. He’s obsessed with it. I just put it back on the charger (because he messed with it last night and it wasn’t charging) and he heard the beep from across the house and beelined it through the kitchen to get to it. This happens every time and it kills me. What a weirdo.

Morning.
Friday feels is right. There’s rumors of a high profile coach coming to the school Mh was just let go so of course people are asking me about it. I haven’t told anyone at my job that my got let go because I wasn’t ready yet. They were panicky when they let the football staff go because they don’t want to lose me and I’ve been waiting it out to see what jobs look like, but with these rumors, I kind of have to say something. It sucks. Blah.
I was thinking about going up to Memphis this weekend to take the boys to the zoo this weekend to get away from just being home and now I think we should. It may be good to get out and do something to try to take our minds off of everything here.

Hugs nam2013, it’s good that your little guy has you to help navigate these things as they inevitably pop up. You can be a voice of experience if he has social challenges, and encourage him when he needs it. I actually think it’s tougher when a parent and child are so polar opposite that the parent doesn’t know how to ‘deal’ with their kiddo’s personality (like one is an extreme extrovert and the other isn’t). Memphis would be fun lahdeedah, sorry about all the speculation. Like living in a fishbowl... slenle too funny about the Roomba! When C hears ours coming she runs around slamming the bedroom doors (she doesn’t like it going in her room). When I hear a door slam I’m like, must be 10 o’clock! 😂

nam2013 That’s great that you’re getting feedback about him in school but I really hope that she also talked about a plan to ensure he feels safe, confident and included. Yes personalities will come through but it’s their job to ensure everyone is included and feels happy while in class with peers. Sorry, this got me all in my feels because I struggled with B for quite some time. We were doing everything we could to ensure he would feel confident by enrolling him in soccer, swimming etc to build confidence and I expect(ed) the teachers in his life to follow the same path.

This weekend is our city wide garage sale. One of our neighbors posted they would have bikes. I drove by when I dropped evie at school, then walked back over and got 2 adult size bikes, that she said have been ridden maybe 5 times each, for $30 each. Told H if he didn't like his, I'd sell it for what I paid.
I'm excited!

vino the teacher is great and I like that she ‘sees’ him so well. She said he’s making contact with his classmates, and will keep an eye on him. She’s hopeful that after the fall break (3/4 weeks from now) he’ll start to feel more at ease. I think Dh an I will request another meeting after Christmas break to hear how he’s doing at that stage. I just want to scoop him up and hug the life out of him. ETA and I’m sorry you’ve been struggling with b too... this is the sucky part about them getting bigger!

Hi! I think I e lost my mind. We are tent camping this weekend at the lake. Last time I tent camped I swore I’d never do it again 😂. But we waited too late to get a reservation and couldn’t get a cabin.

nam2013, I second what flamingo said that it's good he has you and you went through similar so you can understand. I agree with vino that I would hope the teacher would be working on ways to help him feel more comfortable and included.

Today for show & tell Cadence had to show her favorite snack. She chose Pringles. Mh got bent out of shape because pringles aren't healthy....It didn't say what's your favorite healthy snack. How many kids do you think are going to show up on screen with a freaking apple or protein bar? Let her have her damn Pringles and lets just be happy she didn't pick candy, cause that's honestly what I thought she was going to want to show.

slenle how cute! I get the robo vac appreciation. Buddy cleans my house without asking. What more could a woman want? nam2013 he'll be OK. He's got a great support system and is well liked. He can eventually learn ways yo relax more and be less tense. Hugs.

@klongoria I’m with you! Besides if they would ask me what my favourite snack was I wouldn’t say carrot sticks . My kid always states at school that his favourite foods are hotdogs, chicken nuggets and cornflakes. Mind you this is a waldorf school, where a good majority eats sugar free, organic and/or vegetarian... 🙈.

It feels like it took a million years to get to Friday. This will hopefully be the last day of horrible air. 🤞🤞🤞
I'm going to try to power through work so I can be done early today. I have a massage this afternoon and maybe the girls and I will watch 50 First Dates. I think they'd love it. One of the few Adam Sandler movies I like. Even though he was huge when I was in high school I didn't find his annoying baby voice crap remotely funny. But when he acts like a semi-normal human being I'm ok with him.

I would like to get some, too. We went to Academy a few weeks ago and they had a limited selection. I just hate to buy new, not knowing how much we will really use them. I'm hoping if H and I go, then Evie will be motivated to go and lose the training wheels. Plus riding a bike will be good for her knee since it's low impact.
