Update on pantygate: it doesn't seem to matter which panties she wears. She prefers the seamless though. Now that school has started her grabbing has declined tremendously. Idk know why, but it has, so I'm happy. She's still toe-walking though and that has gone up quite a bit. I rarely see her on her flat feet. 🤯 I'm assuming the PT stopped awhile back. Can you message the dr again?

klong11 We constantly remind E to walk flat footed, she got so used to tip toe when her knee was really bothering her, and she does it really bad in the AMs when she's sore, so I get it. Does she wear braces regularly or were you just doing the exercises for her? Might be worth a call to her doctor and have her seen again to see if something else is going on, or getting worse.

vino brain dump away! That's what we are all here for. Everyone's worlds have been upended by this shit, as adults, we can comprehend the bullshit, but kids have a harder time adjusting and need that normalcy. It's so hard and you have to trust your gut with what you think is best for her.

vino, you're doing great figuring out what's best for the kids while staying safe. It's so hard to figure it all out. Especially while you're working too! A little girl down the street is in C's class and she comes over to play outside during breaks. Her mom keeps saying she's not sure how to repay me but I'd be out anyway and I'm not working! Plus, the girl is so sweet and she makes the kids happy and not fight as much. All that to say, you've got a LOT going on and dump/vent away.

It’s September and I just ordered the first Christmas presents (for teachers will you believe me...). I made a list of alllllll the birthdays and celebrations until the end of the year and I’m slowly working down the list to get everything done so I don’t have to worry about any of those things. I’ll wrap everything, store stuff for the kids at my parents and make a gift box with stuff wrapped and tagged in a way even Ds can just grab it if needed.
And yes I realise this all sounds crazy...

@wine how are you holding up (let me know it you don’t want me asking here)? I'm hanging in there, thanks for asking ❤️. Pretty positive I've made the decision to move on but I haven't shared that with him yet. It's so overwhelming!

Pt and braces were finished a year ago(?), I think. They never helped anything. I need to start back on the pt to make sure her muscles aren't tightening back up, but they basically said it was just a habit she would need to break on her own. The more we point it out the more she does it. It became less during school, but has since picked up again.

The first day of school went ok. It was a distance learning day for everyone except transitional grades and it was more meet the teacher and some assignments to gauge where we are at. He goes in person tomorrow along with 10 other classmates. There are 6 distance learning. I’m happy for the small class size.

Guess whose wife doesn't actually want to volunteer to answer phones here, so I'm having to cover those shifts anyway. So dumb. They should have just let me cover in the first place. I knew that was going to happen.

I think I mostly caught up from the wknd and now here too. Whew I hope S liked school jewels. I’m so sorry for the sucky situation inthekitty. I gave you LT for support, but bc I like you have shitty air quality. I can’t even imagine what that must feel like to breathe.

B seems to have a lot of homework, IMO. Starting last week she had some every night. I seem to remember not having homework every night until high school, maybe 8th grade.

I definitely had it starting in first (and I know this b/c my mother saved so many of my school papers ) I remember doing reading/writing exercises and math-related stuff. We just started homework today and so far, they basically have to keep a reading log each week and choose one of the 4 books to briefly summarize and write about a connection to their life.

S said he like school ok. I did get a scare when I picked up the director pulled me aside - I thought he was in trouble. But it turns out his laptop was glitching and she wanted to let me know they gave him one to use from the center. Phew! Now I'm trying to troubleshoot the school's computer!

Also, re: homework - our school is not big on it in the lower grades and they said that this year due to the distance learning, there would only be 3 or 4 "projects" all year long, otherwise no homework.

Some good updates for me today. My sister had another round of tests and so far has no organ damage from her lupus. My mom had a zoom meeting with grandma’s rehab and they say she’s up walking with a walker and feeding herself. We were under the impression she was laying in bed doing nothing. There is a chance she can go home if we can find a live in assistant for her. DH said 1st grade was a bit more organized today. I taught my first lessons that weren’t just how to use tech today and it went well until this afternoon when I was informed I have to trade one of my 6th grade classes for a 7th grade one. I’m happy because I’m getting a class that is supposed to come back in person where the other class wasn’t and now I have 2 sixth grade classes and 2 seventh so I will be less bored repeating the same lesson 8 times but now I have to explain the change to these poor kids.

So ladies... my birthday is next week. MH keeps asking what I want. I can't for the life of me come up with a single idea. Usually when I can't think of anything, my go to is a spa day away from everyone, but I'm not comfortable with that.
We don't usually do super large gifts.
Any ideas?

I like getting a cake from my favorite bakery and just having a few hours just us. Normally we go to a movie. This year it might be a movie at home. But the key is just a few hours together. No talking about work, school, kids.

New pjs/robe? (check out Lake pajamas if you're not familiar with them, they are so soft and splurge-worthy) any cosmetic/related items you've been wanting to try? Do you have any hobbies you need something for?

Got an email today that there has been a positive Covid test at H’s school. They don’t give any other details so I have no idea who it could be. If it was someone in direct contact with H I would have gotten that info so that’s good.

I wish I had hobbies - I can’t think of any that I have anymore

One of my favorite gifts was a necklace with the words baby mine from dumbo on it with L’s name on it and a blue pearl. He gave me a new charm with E’s name in it with a pink stone. Edit to add picture
