My tRump-loving, anti-mask, Covid was manufactured by a lab in China aunt and uncle both tested positive today. I mean, I hope they pull through and recovery quickly, but.....

This is such chickenshit nonsense. It doesn't matter if you think whoever wins the election should get to pick, it matters what you'll do when presented with Trump's pick.

I hate everything. I’m sinking into despair. ETA I misread Collins’ statement, so I rescind a smidgeon of despair.

That's odd, and very poorly worded. I've had a couple racing pigeons rest in and around my yard. Never felt the need to advertise their landing there.

I just put this out, I've seen it all over the internet and I hope all the languages are correct.
I'm slowly working on MH to get a Biden/Harris sign. We've never been super vocal about political stuff and at least 1/3 of the houses on our street have 45 signs. We're weary of retaliation, which shouldn't even be a fucking thing.

This is a fascinating/terrifying thread showing how Twitter AI prioritizes white faces when selecting which photo to preview

Wut in the hell, Grassley?!? His Twitter is a real adventure. I especially like when he tweets at someone as if he's sending them an email. Although, he is one of very few in Congress who run their own social media accounts so I guess that's something?

I’ve had that in a yard sign up for a few years and there are many around here. I didn’t personally figure out a way to check the translations but I’m pretty sure it’s a legit source at least.

I had to take a break from the news yesterday. It was just too much with RBG. Also, do the conservatives not realize that this will fire people up to vote more than anything?? If they hold off, both liberals and conservatives will vote bc so much is on the line.
Also, I had been in the process of booking flights to the States for April next year. I'm now going to hold off again bc I have concerns about how chaotic and violent things could get after the election. 2020 can go crawl under a rock and eat slugs. I want to see my mom.

I'm so desperate for the entry way regulations to change. I don't care about going to the States (since it's allowed I know if I needed to I could) but we want my mom to be able to visit so bad!!! It's now been almost a year and a half and she's never gone this long not seeing the grandkids. She was meant to come in June. If we could just get her tested before and after that would be doable but it not being allowed at all is so frustrating (although at this point with the way half of Americans are acting there's no way they can allow it). She has to ask for vacation two months ahead and we keep pushing it back. Right now I'm hoping for a Christmas miracle.

I've considered asking whether there are exceptions for direct relatives of German citizens (her 3 granddaughters). She was here in Dec, we canceled our trip there this summer (went to your neck of the woods instead), and who knows when she'll be able to come. Hugs to the long time eithout your mom seeing your kids. It's looking to be 1.5 yesrs here, too, which is huge when they're this young (ours are 8, 7, 4).

Ours are similar 10,8,4 and everyone on both sides still gets so much from the relationship. And obviously the 4 year old has changed dramatically and when I think about it too hard I just start to cry so I try not to think about it all. And just focus on the fact that when she comes it's going to be amazing. If it seems that things really aren't improving I'll suffer through flying alone with all three kids by myself and deal with the quarantine when we come back but that's really the absolute worst solution especially with the school holiday restrictions.

Yep, that's where I was at mentally when I was looking at flights for April. And seriously, I DGAF about quarantine when we come back. The government thought I was good enough to teach the kids at home for 4 months this spring, I think I can be trusted for another 2 weeks. I will have 0 guilty conscience about keeping them out of school during quarantine.
