I'm starting with red tomorrow and trying to make a whole day of red foods. It's just for fun, for my kid.
So far I have: - Breakfast: beet pancakes (I think they'll be more pink but whatever) and maybe yogurt with raspberry puree (probably also pink) - Lunch: Tomato soup and...? - Dinner: Pasta w/ cherry tomatoes, red potatoes, and maybe some leftover roasted beets. Raspberry sorbet for dessert.
I am kind of light on snacks but I have beet crackers and maybe I'll make beet pesto or hummus. Oh and I have watermelon.

I've never had a beet in my life. I'd be food coloring pancakes, tomato sauce pasta, and strawberries lol

I would not enjoy doing it (lazy) but I’m an artist who loves to cook so if you need ideas, I’m here to brainstorm.
Definitely order some butterfly pea flowers if you can fit blue (and purple) day.

OMG that looks awesome, he's already been talking about blue water and it looks like I can make tea with it? Do you know how it tastes? I think blue is going to be the hardest. So far I just have blue soup.

When I asked my 3YO for ideas he said blueberry pasta for dinner?

I saw that when I was trying to figure how to make blue soup. Do you know if it has any particular taste to it or can I add it to anything?

This is fun! I might do that. Yes! I'm hoping I can get him to try some new foods but he has a special knack for getting super excited about things like this but it doesn't actually translate to action.

A boiled egg?)

So far I just have blue soup. Freeze dried blueberries pulverized into a powder will work pretty well as a blue-purple coloring. Bake into things. Stir into yogurt. Sprinkle on toast. Also spirulina powder. Blue smoothies or ice cream! ETA: I see pobre covered that.

Does you son like pasta? I’ve recently started adding food coloring to pasta and my girls think it’s awesome. Word to the wise though, the yellowish tint to the pasta needs to be taken into account because adding red trying to make it well, red, came out peach/pink and legit looked like a bowl of worms. So.
I add to the boiling water then add the pasta. I imagine this could be done to other light foods, but if boiling.
Cabbage? I don’t know.
But we get greenish cauliflower so you can use that. My kids aren’t adventurous eaters so we aren’t very naturally colorful. I mean dh and I are but them not so much.

Use white/off white things with whatever your color of the day is to help the color pop more. So white waffles with strawberry jam syrup, whipped cream with red sprinkles.
Id end up doing red hot hot dogs And red chorizo tacos with red salsa and red corn chips

I make purple pasta with beet pesto and he loves it and it gets him to eat a vegetable he wouldn't typically eat, you know? Green cauliflower will definitely go on the list for green day.

I do themed dinners for family movie night but I am very lax with the ingredients since it's a special evening. Tomorrow I'm doing an Avengers themed dinner. Last week we watched Return of the Jedi so I made 7 Up floats the color of Degobah and added dry ice. I have a little bit too much fun planning these.

If you sautee red cabbage with lemon juice the purple part turns bright blue No opposite! Cabbage is an acid indicator, so cabbage + lemonjuice = pink. Cabbage + baking soda = blue This is one of my kids' favorite things to do. The butterfly pea flowers also work as an indicator, so you can add them to lemon juice for a really pretty pink/purple. We add it to lemonade:

Do you have red peppers? I'd do toast with a roasted red pepper spread if you're looking to add to lunch.

Red/pink pancakes turned out pretty good, although it took me a little while to figure out just how early I have to flip them so they don’t brown. You really can’t taste the beets much.

It’s orange day here today and we started with carrot muffins and oranges for breakfast. We’ll have coconut curried carrot soup for lunch, roasted red pepper hummus and orange bell peppers for a snack, and roasted red pepper pasta, butternut squash, and salmon for dinner, and orange cake for dessert. It’s a good thing my ILs are here so I can cook all day.
